Posted: Thu Dec 22, 2011 12:29 am Post subject: Robbie Staffie DOB 04 Farnham Kenns
Homing Requirements Robbie will suit a family who now want to offer a Staffie a home as he will suit a first time Staffie family though dog experience would mean it isn't all resting on his shoulders. Would love a secure garden and part time hours only please.
His Story: Robbie was found stray with a bald patch on his back which could be a past burn or malnutrition. Robbie has a very sweet nature, is a little reserved but settles and welcomes the outstretched loving hand. Now neutered, vax'd and chipped.
Advert: Robbie is about 8 years old. He is a solid stable character. He meets the majority of dogs well but can get spooked by certain dogs and yet is easily distracted and moved on. As Robbie’s confidence improves he may come off lead but for now he is easy to manage on an extender and keeps nicely by your side if you wish. Robbie travels well in the car and in fact is really settled. He isn't highly emotional so not barky or whiney. Robbie is in boarding kennels near Farnham.
Robbie is a slightly taller Staffie with a warm golden and tan brindle coat. Endearing features with his button eyes which currently carry sadness. He is in good health. If you are looking for a good mannered dog who has 'life and play' in him but steady energy, Robbie would be easily accommodated in most families. Robbie needs his forever family and a lucky family they will be!

"Please note this dog is currently in boarding kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found"
See Robbie's thread below: Watch his progress through our Rescue Referral Details: Robbie is a dark brindle and white SBT male. He is a real sweetie. He will be next for PTS if not offered a rescue place
Robbie's pound is trying to arrange transport to get him and Rico to us from Lancashire. He is now safe, in the knowledge we are behind him. _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!
Hi Lynne, Robbie is about 7/8 years old, brill with dogs seems to ignore cats and brill with everybody he met, walks nicely on the lead, has a bald patch on his back which the vet reckons is a burn which has been left to heal without any treatment, as the skin is quite thin (apparently though you wouldn't know to look at it) he said it may be prone to cracking but just to put vaseline on if it does. I really love this little lad and so did everyone in the vets xx Mary _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!
Robbie has arrived and awaits his Gatwick South friends.
Our thanks to Natalie and our other friend who gave up their New Years Eve to get Robbie into safety. _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!
Robbie and I became firm friends today. He travelled in a crate for a long journey, not a peep. He then suddenly was in a house meeting lovely people and a C.A.T. Mavies. She arched her back, and disappeared. Robbie stood his ground and came forwards with friendly curiousity. Got a touch excited when she disappeared but soon settled coming back for human attention, praise and strokes.
Then we had a journey out into the countryside for a lovely walk in nature. Lots of pictures to give you a 'feel' of a lovely friendly boy with beautiful brindle and gold colouring. Robbie was quite barky around horses, despite their calm attempts to greet him.
Robbie is now in Farnham kennels with an open social diary

Geoff beat you too it Ozmum but flicking through Robbie's diary still plenty of slots vacant...roast chicken sounds very medicinal!
Well out with Robbie again today and there he is proving himself further with each encounter. Geoff walked with him and I walked Benson as we need Benson to relax with dogs outside and Robbie proved just the perfect cool dude! In the video you will see how dog fluent Robbie is and also glimpse his bald patch on his back which really doesn't bother him.
I met Robbie for the first time at the Farnham group walk today and he's gorgeous I got a lovely Staffie cuddle and a very nice, gentle face wash with his paws on my shoulders
New walker Sophie looked after him today and she said he was brilliant.
I love Robbie! He walked so nicely and so calmly with Sophie, she really lucked out walking him! I had a little cuddle with him in the kennel. What a lovely boy!
Lovely afternoon to be out walking our dogs today. Geoff walked Robbie
and I walked Kailey and she was never far away

What a sweet and gentle soul, Robbie is. When I went into his kennel to put his harness on, I had hold of his collar - which instantly came unbuckled and fell off in my hand. He trotted out of his kennel straight for a ball in the paddock while I shouted after him. He stopped and gave me a look as if to say, "I won't cause any aggro - I'm a peaceable chap." Collar and harness on with Robbie standing calmly as he always seems to do - we were off for our walk.
We strolled along easily for a long while and Robbie was his calm and collected self the entire time. He wasn't bothered by a thing. Not noise from giant machinery or rifle pops from the ranges - not cars or dogs or people. What a fantastic dog! A steady-eddy of a dog.
I am a bit smitten with Robbie. His gentleness and easy going nature will win anyone over. His eyes hold such a sad expression. It makes me want to give him all the love in the world. And he would so deserve it.
I really do hope his forever home is around the corner. It is heartbreaking to think what he's gone through; he is a dog so deserving of a warm loving home and will prove that to anyone who has contact with him.
Hugs to you Robbie boy - until we meet again you little superstar. xx _________________ "The question is not, 'Can they reason?' nor, 'Can they talk?' but rather, 'Can they suffer?'" - Jeremy Bentham
I returned to walking at Farnham today and my what a treat to meet the wonderful Robbie. I got the feeling he is a dog in bud , just waiting to bloom!! He was having paddock time when I arrived and his eyes really came alive when we played 'fetch'. He comes across as a dog who doesn't expect too much and is really pleased with any attention.
such an honest face ....
and takes treat so gently ....
he enjoyed 5 mins helping the tree surgeons ...
...... but walked on when asked.
he comes across as an easy dog, as I said it's a bit sad as he doesn't seem to expect too much and it will be so exciting to see him find out what a loving caring home will give him!
If anyone is interested in meeting Robbie I would happily make myself available to facilitate introductions, just fill in the form .... he is a real love. _________________ Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see. ~Mark Twain
oh dear I think I am addicted ... this lad is just the bees knees as far as I am concerned! As he had enjoyed his game of 'fetch' so much yesterday we jumped in the car and headed off to the recreation ground near my house so he could have a good chase around on a long line.
he was in his element
My old boy Arnold came out to say hello and Robbie was interested but respectful
I then wondered what Robbie would be like in the house. I shut my dog out and let Robbie have the run of the lounge .... I was SO surprised how calm he was, he pottered about , never offered to try and get on the furniture and found a new pal!
he was pleased to find a ball but just lay quietly with it on the rug ....
and waited beautifully for treats ...
he had about an hour and a half 'home time' and was a real treasure. I think all the new experiences wore him out .....
going going ....
......gone ...
he was sound asleep by the time we got back to kennels (5 mins!) ... so I just sat with him until he woke up as he looked so peaceful.
If you want a dog who appears to be ok with other dogs , has a sense of fun but ultimately like to chill out Robbie is your boy. From the brief time I was with him I get the feeling he will happily sleep and mooch if you needed to go to work for a while.

I decided to take Robbie for a walk today, this being Burns Night 'n all. He was his usual wonderful self. I have become a HUGE Robbie fan.
We ambled easily along most of the time. He looked out for me while I hopped over loads of recently cut branches on the paths - he takes everything in stride in a laid-back way... Until he met a big holly bush he decided he didn't like the look of - he thought it would be more attractive with one less branch! He tugged and tugged but didn't get farther than leaving some teeth marks in it. He came away easily when I called and offered him a tasty treat.
Robbie's not into just any kind of treats... he's got refined taste. Often kibbles or biscuits just won't do. But meaty jerky type treats? YesYesYes!! Ooooh what can I do for more of that??
At the end of our walk, Robbie and I had a muddy cuddle. He really did like the attention and scratches. I think that once he's settled in a home he'll be even more of an absolute star than he's showing us. Shine your little light, matey.
Claire's pictures show just how very special this boy is. I don't want to believe he'll spend much longer in kennels. Please, someone give him a chance. He's ever such a good boy. _________________ "The question is not, 'Can they reason?' nor, 'Can they talk?' but rather, 'Can they suffer?'" - Jeremy Bentham
Robbie – <sigh> what a fabulous boy. I am in awe of his calm nature and even temperament. We had a day out today with our own dog, and Robbie was an absolute STAR.
We first had a walk around the area, so the dogs could enjoy and get acquainted with each other. They had previously been complete strangers. Robbie emitted a bit of an unsure growl at first but soon settled into his walk – and then very soon after that was bumping along quite pleased with himself that he’d found a new girlfriend – trying to steal some Staffie kisses in the woods and sunshine. He really did try to extend the paw of friendship, bless him.
Get acquainted walk complete, we hopped into the car – Robbie needed no coaxing for that (!) – and we were off for the afternoon. I sat in the back seat with the dogs for a 35 minute journey – not a peep out of Robbie, who, after an initial investigation of the car, flopped himself down and rested his head on my leg. What a good boy!
A bit of play time in the garden was next in order. Again, Robbie shined his little light. There was one hiccup with a tree branch or two that he thought would look better chewed up on the ground, rather than on the tree, but the power of Schmackos (other brands available!!) overcame that challenge pretty quickly. Perhaps he just wanted to show his manly strength in front of his new girlfriend.
And on into our house – Robbie was anxious to get inside in the warmth – YesYes let’s get in there, I say! He let us wipe some of the mud off of his paws with no problem at all. After an initial sniff around and a reminder or two that it’s better manners to keep four paws on the floor rather than two on a kitchen counter, Robbie flopped down on the carpet for a belly rub and treats. Our own dog told Robbie off for doing nothing but having a good sniff, and Robbie made a noise himself in annoyance, but the two were easily distracted with an “Oi! –That’s enough!”
Friends again and we had another walk, bumping along all over the neighborhood. Robbie wanted to stay close to his new doggie pal and his walkers. He wasn’t pully at all and was fine with other dogs we met while walking; there was one little growl at an off-lead dog facing us, but Robbie showed his star quality by coming away with his temporary pack immediately and without a second look round.
Back into the house for cuddles and some relaxation and quiet time. Robbie is really calm and well-behaved in the house. I know he would love to have his own family to lounge around with. Lots of fusses and treats and cuddles later, it was time to go back to the kennels.
After letting us know that he was happy to do the driving, and some cuddles from the human driver, Robbie snoozed on the back seat most of the return trip. It was really hard to put him back into his kennel. He does enjoy his food though, so he was busy polishing off a dish when we left him to it.
This is one first class dog. I can only hope that families are shoving each other aside to claim him. Such an even-tempered gentleman does not deserve to spend the rest of the Winter in kennels.
‘Til I can give you another hug in person, Robbie, you SuperStar, you. xx

What a super update - I just love it when the kennel dogs have 'home time'.
he is so beautiful , I love his little bald patch , it is a badge of honour that shows he has risen above adversity! _________________ Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see. ~Mark Twain
Robbie looked after our new walker today and was a true gent! His canine walking companion was uber bouncy for about 20 mins and Robbie just took it all in his stride and was unfazed.
Couldn't get a picture that did justice to this boy as I was holding aforementioned 'bouncy dog'!!
Robbie enjoyed a drink of warm goats milk with an egg yolk whisked in when we got back to my car..... i didn't want the dogs going back to their kennels and guzzling icy cold water before bed!
