Homed

Homing Requirements: Kiwi needs a stable home life where her needs are foremost. She needs a 6' panel fenced garden and exit management regime as she mustn't be allowed to get out, retention on an extender as she has prey drive. Kiwi experienced dog owners with lead management esp. around streets. Kiwi could live with another dog. Not for cats or small furries. Older children or supervised visiting young children.

Her Story: Kiwi was owned by a man who was casual with Kiwi, She got into chasing cats and sadly caught one. She came into police care and gave birth to a litter but no pups survived. The owner became homeless and couldn’t take her back. Now spayed vax'd and chipped. Kennelled near Gatwick with weekend foster periods.

Advert: Kiwi is fun and caring. She loves to snuggle and makes a loyal loving pet. Just 2 years young and still has a lot of puppy in her and is ready for fun. Kiwi needs to be trained to an extender lead. She would suit a family who have dog experience and will take Kiwi to training classes to offer her the basics whilst refreshing their own skills.

Kiwi is a wonderful slate grey colour with badger markings and pretty white socks. Kiwi is young and intelligent. She hasn't lived with children but she is gentle. Kiwi has always been loved and loads of people have come forwards to help her now she just needs that fortunate family to embrace her needs and enjoy a superb dog.

Referral Details: 14.10.11 Hi Lynne,
Here are the pictures of Kiwi poor girl,so glad you can help.
We are more than happy to keep her safe until a space becomes available for her. Kiwi is 16months old and last week gave birth, all of the puppies died in police care. Kiwi has been in police care for approx 5 weeks for killing a cat on the estate where she lived. The owner is now homeless and voluntary surrendered Kiwi over to us as he did not want the dog passed from pillar to post.

I did have Kiwi checked by a vet today she does have mastitus and they have put her on Galastop to dry her milk up also Clavucill (antibiotics)
I have wormed and strongholded her also. I will speak to you soon  Laura Dog Wardenxx

Kiwi has been on our waiting list for a month. She came into Haslemere Vets yesterday, who kindly spayed her for us. She bled a lot so we transfered her care to Gatwick (N) so she can be observed and make a good recovery. She travelled with a body bandage. Wary and concerned but her gentle vibe shone through and she enjoyed 20 mins in the paddock before bedding down for the night. Welcome 'home' Kiwi.

Not just cute, she's super cuddly too.

Kiwi couldn't believe her luck when I lost my balance taking photos and found myself being snuggled and covered in kisses with her sheer delight. She was so loving it really made me chuckle, so I'm very relieved Sharon and Charlie weren't about with their cameras.

Kiwi came for a wonderful walk today She was bouncy on occasions when you saw her just so happy to be in the midst of nature. Other times she was strolling along. She changed kennels to Gatwick (S) and has her social diary open and currently looking expectant but empty!

I took Kiwi out for the first time today.

She is a lively girl and is very eager to be out and about.  Santa

It is difficult to say what she is like with other dogs at the moment, as we were not in a postition today to make an assessment.

She is quite a big girl, but full of fun! She throughly enjoyed the warm sausages I gave her on return to her kennel!

Oh my word this girl is drop dead gorgeous and what a lovely crossbreed - what I would say is a well mixed cross. Some dogs just do not take a bad photo and she is one of them. Would love to see what a professional could do with her. Very regal and beautiful. You have to look at her, turn away and then go back for another good look to appreciate just how lovely she is ...

So sorry folks, but my visit to kennels is never complete without a cuddle fix and how could I resist Kiwi. We traded cos she loves tummy tickles.

She is in good condition, but her coat is scurfy - nothing some TLC and good food won't fix. A foster home would be the icing on the cake this Christmas too.

I decided to bring Kiwi home today as I thought she might enjoy the run.  I thought she would love a game of ball, but she wasn't that bothered.

She loved exploring the garden and she was very receptive to training with treats  Laughing

Kiwi is very excitable in and around the kennels, but is a different dog when you take her away from it.

I finally got the chance to walk the very beautiful Kiwi today. As Vicky has said before she is struggling a bit in kennels, she doesn't really like it there and who could blame her. Out on our walk she was lovely and we had a lovely walk together. She pulled a little to start with but once she had got rid of some energy she calmed down and stopped pulling. As with most kennelled dogs all she needs is regular exercise to stop any pulling! She does have a strong prey drive but as an owner of a dog with a strong prey drive its all about managing your dog, being aware of your surroundings and aware of your dogs body language. Easy  Wink

After a few failed attempts to chase squirrells she was much more reponsive to me and began to look at me for guidance and reassurance. After I praised her a few times I felt we had really bonded and you could see her tail was starting to wag more and more. I really hope someone snaps this girly up soon, she is just so eager to please!

Kiwi popped to the vets today for her first vax. She was such a good girl, she made friends with the receptionist and a couple of men collecting tablets, she got a little excited when a spaniel joined us in the waiting room but soon settled with a few treats offered as a distraction. She eagerly spotted a stuffed cat toy but again settled quickly.

She was a model patient for her examination and barely noticed her injection at all.

Kiwi came out with me today. She chattered away as we headed up the field and seemed to spot lots of things that were interesting, not that I saw a thing  Smile . The only time she really stood still was when I asked her to pose for a photo and then she was as good as gold  love1

Kiwi first for me today, a lovely girl always on the lookout for a squirrel or even a bird she'd like to chase

This little girl is such a blank canvass. She is playful and fun and into everything, but if you stop walking she loves nothing better than kiss and a cuddle. A really stunning looking dog as well. She shows no fear of other dogs and no agression, she really is easy going, a little star  love1
