Homed

Homing Requirements Buddy needs a dog experienced family to offer him a dog centre life and to ensure he continues with his socialisation and settlement outside. Buddy needs his own secure garden. Could be an only dog but may prefer doggie company. Proven with dog savvy children 6 years upwards. Not for cats or small furries.

His Story: Buddy was found in a house arrest by the police, no one claimed him. He was held for 6 months in kennels while the police tried to resolve the issue. He was transferred to ourselves and has shown himself to be appreciative of everything offered to him. Now neutered, chipped and vax'd.

Advert: Buddy came as a long lost treasured friend. Buddy had immediate bonding with all and rose to ‘Mr Popularity’ status. Buddy enjoys weekend/ holiday fostering break with another Staffie, young children and cats. Buddy can get challenged by bouncy dogs off lead but is learning tolerance. Buddy travels well in the car and is housetrained. He enjoys sharing the sofa with you and loves to sleep on the bed but may settle for less if that isn't satisfactory for his family.

Buddy is a medium Staffie, dark brindle with golden flecks, slightly longer legs. He looks in stunning health, but kennel life does take its toll on his well being.  Buddy has a warm steady temperament: he is a warm steady guy. He is easily discouraged from mouthing and has proved he can live with young dog savvy children. Buddy is a smoothie; he'll keep you smiling just from having him around. Buddy enjoys his weekend foster and has developed so much, see his blog link  on our forum.

I was so happy when I entered Buddy’s kennel today at Farnham, finally. We have met many times through his door but suddenly there I was, with harness in hand, and he so knew that was special. He gave me little licks, attempted to play with the harness and before he realised it, we were walking towards the dog mobile, on my passenger seat and motoring along the A3. I could tell he was nervous and he tried to get into the foot well but then preferred my company and settled back on the seat. He loved his head being stroked and 'good good boys'. We arrived close to the kennels and he had a lovely walk with the sun shining. Then into his new kennel with his own long run. A new start for Buddy, a lovely change, with promises of lovely walks and new friends. Later I called by to clean his water bowl as he had managed to drop food in it. He tried to break free. He is a door darter given the chance but I actually grabbed his fur on his back holding it tight and grabbed his collar to bring him back, no way was he running away. No reaction from him, many dogs would have had a go: Door firmly closed, we enjoyed a big cuddle and I carefully extracted myself!

I think we've all talked to him, given him treats and toys and tried to let him know he wasn't on his own - but to finally have him as part of the rescue is such wonderful news!  Bet he can't quite believe what is happening to him after all this time!

Cheer Leaders I met Buddy at Farnham, he reminded me of Ringo sitting looking lovingly and hoping it was his turn for some attention, such a long wait but we'll make it up to him.

Absolutely thrilled Buddy is now in our care.  Ever since entering his kennel by mistake  Embarassed I've wanted to get this lovely boy out for a play.

He is known for climbing fences though so be aware he's great fun  Laugh

We thought Buddy needed a bit of spoiling after sitting in a kennel for 6 months, so today we made him feel very special.

Buddy came home with me today.  As soon as I took his lead off and let him run around, he really came to life!  He spent a good proportion of the time exploring the garden.

He enjoyed lots of ball playing and of course treats! He did however think the ball thrower was a toy in itself, so it had to be taken away

I was able to take food off of him, and also toys.  He was very happy for me to do so, and showed no possessiveness to either.

He appears quite well trained, but he was so excited that I didn't focus too much on that today.

After all this he had a shower.  He throughly enjoyed it, and like all these staffs, loves the shampoo being massaged in  :D   The only problem was that he thought the towel was a toy!  Laugh

Buddy was given a new(ish) coller.  His current one is not suitable to a boy who is full of fun and has so much love to give.  I would still like to see a "softer looking" coller on him, as Mace has got.  (if anyone has one, let me know!)

Got a couple of short videos...

A snap shot of a "funny five minutes"

That must be an amazing feeling for Buddy, being able to run about after spending so long in a kennel. He's rather scrummy  Big Hug  Big Hug

I took new boy on the block Buddy out for a walk in the afternoon sun yesterday. He was obviously delighted to be out and about and made some really cute snuffle-y noises as he explored his surroundings. He was a real pleasure to walk  Heartfill

Yesterday I had the pleasure of driving Buddy to the vets for his castration, I had him on a seat belt harness in the back, he'd have preferred the front so spent the journey with his head between the front seats being no troube at all and watching all that went on.

He had forgiven me today and went walkies with Louise, a new favourite for her methinks

Transported Buddy back to GS last night - post snip - and I was the one transported!  So handsome, so settled on the passenger seat, so silently expressive about my driving ....

I met Buddy today and was so impressed! Bless him ... someone has put some work in because he offers his paw for treats! So very glad we have him under our wing and can't believe how well balanced he is considering he has spent such a long time in a kennel without walks.

He is making up for lost time though ... with the ladies! He was charmed by Katie and they walked side by side touching each other and when the time was right he gave her some kisses! He is in luuuurve and the feeling was mutual!

I took quite a lot of pictures today and can't choose so you will have to have them all.  I'm am posting them specially for the Farnham walkers because I know just how special he is to them. So guys, brace yourselves to feast your eyes on the Budster ...
