Been a busy week and more tests for Oz - which he has passed with flying colours, bless him! We had a guest staying from Berlin so the place was fuller than usual. Oz won his heart. His parents had a JRT in Ireland which had put him off - was apparently very snappy and too manic. He left the country convinced of the joys of JRT's. Then Oz had a long car journey to Liverpool to meet my family - who just adored him. He got completely spoiled, and I could tell that if I wasn't too careful, Mum and Dad would have quite happily kept hold of him! He is very similar to their last JRT who sadly died 9 years ago and seeing Oz happily trotting around brought back old memories. Mum said she will have a look at the site, and is tempted to consider having a RR dog....

Then to Anglesey - and Oz adored the camp site - lots of fresh air, grass, long grass and fun times together. He really enjoyed the beaches - Mark has taken some video footage of him digging at Traeth Bychan. Oz is an excellent traveller - despite the warm weather he has done well, with the help of regular stops and water breaks. We brought him some new bits - travelling water bowl, a metal stake (he wasn't allowed free reign on the camp site, but had his extending lead which meant he could walk quite a distance) and some treats which he seems to love... Oh and we have taught him to sit.

All in all, a wonderful holiday for all, and we'll be taking him back in August. We returned to London this evening, and he has settled back into his home.

A x

He must be in his element.  Couldn't wish more for him.

Changes in circumstance with Ozzie's current home have meant that he is now spending most of the day alone in his bed. He can  become 'fractious' on occassions with swift approaches.   We feel that having homed him into as a 'working from home situation' he has ended up being stationary most of the day and therefore the lack of activity may be undermining his general sense of well being. He had his hip joint removed and therefore the ligaments supporting that joint need to be kept fluid and gently exercised.

We have all agreed that Ozzie needs company and ideally company of another dog (s). He needs companionship and we are looking for a nicely busy environment for him to be included in and thrive within.

We are looking for a foster place or straight into a new home where his needs can be met with no blame placed on current owner who has come to this conclusion with our support.

Ozzie arrived here today and started off very shell shocked. To come out of a home as an only dog and be plunged into a house that has a hierarchy to sort out was a bit much for him, so he was very quiet and meek and mild for most of the day.
In the evening he came alive though (most probably because my mum made him a plate of spagetti bolognase!) and started to interact with the other dogs. He is a bit worried about my old Collie cross who pulls horrible faces at everything, even the chair. But he is quickly realising that the senile old fella is quite pointless and that obviously the wind changed and it stuck that way.
He loves my current rescue dog Tuppence (another Jack Russell) and has been fine with my cats and small animals. He just ignores them all.

Ozzie's day did not start off well. Sad He was still very shell shocked when he realised that yesterday wasn't a dream. He was very scared and still not settling with the other dogs.
So..I had to put my thinking cap on! We absolutely can't have a scared dog here!  Surprised
So...walkies time!  Very Happy This totally changed his attitude. A bit nervous when he saw he had to get in the car, but once he realised that he was going into fields then he suddenly came alive! Running round in his little wonky circles, rolling in the grass and plucking it out the ground and throwing it about in excitement. He even came off his lead and managed to keep up nicely. Obviously his spinal issues were taken into consideration and the fact that he doesn't seem to have alot of muscle tone at the moment, so for the first couple of weeks he will go on the oldies route so that he doesn't over do it.
It also gave him an opportunity to get to know the other dogs without the pressure of being in a house and in his mind not being able to get away.
Once home he was strutting about with the other dogs, tail wagging and barking away and telling everybody ALL about it!  Razz

Now he is tired and although he tried to stay sitting up and alert, he slowly, slowly fell asleep (to start with sitting up) till he could fight it no longer and now he is out for the count, laying WITH one of my dogs and much more relaxed. That will change when I make second dinners as he is a great fan of food!!!

Lovely that Ozzie is in with Emma and her pack. He has a lot to take in in one go but I am sure he will settle quickly with Emma in charge. He will come out a very talented dog.

Dog, cat, people friendly with a taste for Italian food - a perfect dog for anyone.!!!

How fantastic! It is such a shame that Ozzy had dog paradise (a HUGE park)  on his doorstep and doesn't seem to have been able to enjoy it. That will all change now  Very Happy  Very Happy

I shall bore you senseless with some pics now... Very Happy

As you can see, Ozzie was not a happy puppy when he arrived!

So this had to be changed!!! The following are pics of him out on his walk today...

This is Ozzie's route for now till he gets a bit stronger and able to do longer walks. I like to vary the walk so that I can assess in different situations. We start with the grassy path bit of the walk...

Then we go into the woods to check how he is distracted by squirrels/deer/birds...he passed by the way. No interest Very Happy

Now what is this...? Something very suspicious that was not here yesterday...

A suspicious random fallen branch...this must be investigated thoroughly...

Still not happy with his discovery...

So he runs ahead to let everyone know about it...

Come OOOOON Emma...TOOOO slow!!!!!

clearly doesn't like his walkies!!!

Actually my Spankie was so agoraphobic when I got him as been shut in for a year but a couple weeks of "forced walks" and was screaming to get out and about!
