It has just occured to me that Dee & I are paying for a 1.5GB webspace that we don't use. It was originally intended to be a personal page for me but never utilised.

I'd like to use it to further the cause of homeless dogs but I am wondering how best to approach it. The root of the problem is too many dogs and/or not enough good homes. The primary goal of my site would be to create 'new' homes.

As secondary goals I would like to promote animal welfare in general and Rescueremedies in particular (I'd also like it to make me filthy rich and more attractive to women but when I spoke with the hosting service provider they suggested this might cost more money so I'm leaving that on the back burner, so to speak.).

Ideas I'm currently considering are:

1. A fosterer's blog

A day-to-day account of dog fostering with emphasis on the positive and rewarding aspects of working with rescue dogs. This site would be aimed, I suppose, at the 'swing voters'. To persuade those considering rescue/breeder to make the right descision and to suggest to those already intending to adopt the alternative of fostering.

2. An anti-ecollar site

A collection of case studies highlighting the danger and cruelty of unrestricted use of e-collars, e-fences and e-beds. A site to attract dog owners of different types and then to promote rescue in a 'soft sell' within the text of the case studies and a 'hard sell' through banners and links.

3. A non-dog related site

I could always resurrect my old Jag XJ-S site (or something) and attract a completely different demographic and then include a 'surprise page' promoting rescue that would hopefully catch people off-guard, and so receptive, to a heavy dose of smaltz.

4. Annoying link site

Just make something to catch the search engines and include no substances only links and banners. Call it Cheapticketsfreerolexbritneysknickers.com or something. Very Happy

I haven't really thought this through (I'm just thinking as I type) so any ideas on what I could do with this site?

For those who understand internet gibberish the site features are as listed for the 1&1 Home £4.99 package here:

Be creative;

anything you can do to get people to stop and think before they rush and buy a pup from a free admag or site or pet shop/store..or follow their dream of letting their dog have a litter! they could foster first to help them decide what type of dog they could manage?..opps another failed fosterer!

If you could somehow make a site come up if searching for rescue dogs in Essex that would be great. There really doesnt seem to be much being done by the great people of Essex in the rescue world - I know a lot of people that have tried to find a dog without success.

I only managed to find Rescue Remedies through word of mouth - I had been concentrating on finding a rescue based in Essex....

Also - agility - a lot of dog owners search to find agility and flyball classes and again in my area not a lot going on....
