Hi,
Can I suggest that you "sell yourselves" a bit more when you look for foster homes maybe ?
I must read 5-10 posts a week from different rescues looking for fosterers in general or for specific dogs and they're all the same. Could you make yours stand out a bit more maybe ?
there are 2 really good "selling points" about RR fostering that are RARE AS HENS TEETH in other rescues ;)
1. dogs coming into your home for foster have already been assessed in foster for some period - if this applies to the dogs you are thinking of then make a real BIG THING of it ... say specifically what this means over taking a stray or kennelled dog e.g.
known housetraining
less likely to have illness (if come straight from home)
know a little about them
and
2. i know she's been very poorly but if she's up and running Dee is a HUGE HUGE asset - sing about her till you can sing no more that there is someone there to advise with immidiate problems and maybe use the forum for more complex support? She was totally invaluable to me (and sometimes its just about the security of having someone at the end of the phone!!).
foster homes can be tricky and very time consuming i know - and i'm not ashamed to admit that i needed help from Dee and when i had the wee terror - i'd already had several young border collies to test my fostering metal !! terriers - especially the working type are (as i learned) very different from a BC tho no less hyper !!!
from my experiences - the other rescues i've fostered for send out poorly dogs, contageous dogs, dogs with open surgery wounds, dogs with fleas, treat fosterers like dirt .... (i could go on .....)

also - what about sponsoring a kennel dog ?
RDR seem to have success with this - infact i've paid for a few nights myself before now for dogs who are "on their last night"
i think success is down to 2 things - a good piccie of the dog and 2. a quick easy way to donate "there and then" like paypal.

Aw bless you Claire but i think the biggest asset that RR has is we have a very strong and dedicated team of people who put so much into helping all our dogs.
I am probably the front person that most people have the most contact with but i would not be able to do this without the rest of the RR team who are doing the nitty gritty behind the scenes and assessing, walking, trips to vets, etc. This sort of stuff is the things that most people do not see going on every day.
So much of Lynne's time taken up with trips to vets, assessing dogs. Homechecks also take up so much of Lynne's time. Doesn't sound much to most people but the sheer amount of hours in a week this takes up are incredible. Rare that she gets a day at home and even then she is doing calls and organising plus updating and running Terrier rescue.
Jane deals with all finance as well as assessing, walking and vet trips for Farnham kennels aided and abetted by the lovely Karen and also Jess now helping too.
Sharon does massive amounts behind the scenes with keeping all adverts on all external sites fully updated. Always seeking new ways to fund raise, look for homes or fosters and ALWAYS in such good cheer and keeping us all smiling.
Katie spends lots of time dealing with emails and queries and bless her heart, time consuming job of putting all non word docs. onto our homing questionnaire. Always trying out new ideas too!! LOL
Elaine takes so much time out to take care of our dogs over in Gatwick as well as giving us excellent assessments and doing home checks for us. Another lady who keeps us going with good cheer.
Marg helps us with walking and keeping our Gatwick dogs healthy! LOL
So many other people help us in so many ways our fosterers (Judy, Belle's mum, Ang, Jilly Marian, and so many others help with transport)
Sorry if i have left any one off sure i have but just wanted to give a broad picture of what a wonderful team of volunteers and committed dog people we have.
Was actually talking about having a thread that introduces people and lets everyone know who exactly does what. Hopefully much better than i have done it _________________ Dee

Hi,
oooops - i have obviously not written this very well, i am SO sorry if I have offended anyone, i know you all work very very hard for the dogs.
I was just meaning in relation to attracting new foster homes to give out positive points about RR that maybe other rescues dont offer - thats what i mean by selling yourselves a bit more as all the rescues put "foster homes wanted" type posts up and people have alot of choice. was just trying to hilight RR extra good points in relation to other rescues i have fostered for.
I do realise that everyone works very very hard I know just how time consuming it is "behind the scenes" to get rescue dogs safe and home them. Was just trying to say you're competing with other rescues for fosterers and use every advantage you can (because i see these things as an advantage and would attract me to foster for you over other ppl).

Don't worry Claire, we are all too busy to get offended that easily But be warned, the system counts the number of posts you do and when you get to a certain number ... we give you a job to do! JUST JOKING! _________________ SHARONR - ADMIN

No claire i am also sure you haven't offended anyone but just seemed a good place to start also letting every one know how many people and what those people do to help RR.
Am sure some one can design it a lot better than me - Hint, hint _________________ Dee
