|
|
Following the success of the Charity walk a couple of weeks ago it has been decided to get a date in the diary for the next one
The conservators of the Ashdown Forest have very kindly agreed to let us hold the walk on the Ashdown Forest - I planned a provisional route on Saturday on my way back from kennels. Distance is approx 5 miles but there is option to make it shorter for anyone/any dogs unable to do the full distance - I am aware that it will be the middle of summer so have chosen a route that incorporates at least two streams so the dogs can cool off
Date: Saturday 28 July 2012
Time: 11.30 start - registration from 10.45
Place: Ashdown Forest - "Friends" carpark (between Nutley and Crowborough) http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.sr...;ax=545610&ay=128919&lm=0 - just as a guide, it is approx 30 mins from Gatwick South kennels - nearest postcode is TN22 3HY - if you are coming from the A22 then you turn left towards Crowborough before you get to Nutley - you go over a cattle grid after a little while and then you need to look out for the "Friends" car park on the left - it will be signposted on the day
Cost: £10 per dog - if you are one handler with more than one dog we would just ask for a donation for the subsequent dog/s
You can also sponsor our walkers/ dogs through our charity giving page:
http://www.charitygiving.co.uk/rrsecondcharitywalk
Refreshments - as with the previous two walks, there will be refreshments afterwards - we are not allowed to "sell" them (one of the forests stipulations) but are allowed to accept donations for them so that is the route we will go down and ask for a minimum donation of 50p per drink or cake.
This walk will be a strictly ON LEAD walk - we have been asked if we can pick up any dog mess around the car park/picnic areas but it is fine if the dogs go in the undergrowth on the walk as long as its not on the paths.
There is unfortunately no toilets but I tested out the undergrowth/bracken (of which there is loads) on Saturday and it will suffice
It would be great to see some of the faces from the Reigate walk....it was such a lovely day out for everyone & such a fantastic day out for the kennel dogs - please consider offering to walk one of them if possible
I am sure that Vicky will be along at some stage to allocate jobs to various people

Good on ya Zoe!
Unfortunately we have a staffy awareness weekend penciled in that weekend so won't be able to make it. Maybe next time! _________________ Doin' it for the staffies....

Well, I'd struggle to better the hill from the last walk but seeing as you've asked so nicely I'll do my best
Joking apart, the route is "undulating" BUT there is a short cut back to the car park that will at least avoid one of the hills if anyone want to take that option |

A 'CARDIAC' hill is a must for any self-respecting charity dog walker!!!
NOTE TO ALL: It's much easier when you have a lovely staffy that you have taught to TUG... _________________ Doin' it for the staffies....

Would love to come but that is the day of the Olympic road cycle race, and I think it might be virtually impossible to get out of Kingston.
Just a warning to everybody - lots of roads around Box hill and in surrey will be closed on that day. |
