Young Kiwi had a lovely sunny walk today. Her coat is looking shiny and she had a spring in her step. Kiwi loves to explore her surroundings and had lots of sniffs and checked out all the rabbit holes. She ignored the noisy dogs barking in their garden and watched the squirrels with fascination. She is an adorable young dog and has such a lovely, cheeky way about her. She is a clever dog and works things out quickly, sits for her treats and can even give a paw. Paws crossed for her foster of forever home soon. _________________ Four Positive Paws

Fruity Kiwi came out today for a stroll and to share my cheese sandwich. Kiwi doesn't actually stroll; not when spending so much time in her kennel. She is a lively walk and makes full use of the extender to explore and enjoy her time.
Video: Kiwi Walks and Rolls
Video: Kiwi Enjoying her walk
She is a sweet dog and searches, incredibily interested in everything. I couldn't imagine Kiwi off lead and if she was she'd chase wild life definitely. Once stationary Kiwi is very connected, especially if you have a cheese sandwich to share.

Wow, Kiwi gave me the most enthusiastic greeting ever todayand gave my face and ears a good wash while I popped her harness on (thanks Kiwi) We had a lovely walk and Kiwi was relaxed and walked nicely on the lead while pawsing to watch the birds and some rabbits. Kiwi has one of the funniest little faces that makes me smile, she has a lovely cheeky look about her. We had to stop for her to have a good roll in the warm leaves, what a little wriggler she can be, showing off in the sunshine. Kiwi is a sweet heart of a dog with real character and an inquisitive mind teamed with a loving nature, what a catch

Young Kiwi was an angel on the lead again yesterday. Happy to stroll and enjoy the sunshine and sniff and explore the grassy banks and fallen piles of fallen leaves. She has an amazing sense of hearing and notices the birds in the trees and even the mice and foxes, yes, they were out basking in the sun too. Kiwi is naturally inquisitive and loves investigating her surroundings. She saw the sheep today with their lambs and she was mesmerised but after a short stop to take in the sights and sounds she was happy to move along and check out more blades of grass and bushes and trees. She is a little darling and I continue to keep my fingers crossed that she will find her home soon, she does like her creature comforts _________________ Four Positive Paws

Young Kiwi is on her Easter holiday with me and is certainly enjoying herself. Kiwi is a young dog with so much potential. She is bright, learns quickly is able to make good choices when she meets new dogs. She seems to quickly assess an approaching dog, keeps calm, sniffs the ground and this has had a very calming affect on the dogs she has come into contact with so far enabling them to acknowledge each other calmly without any ott play and I have been able to stop and have a brief chat with dog owners to tell them her story and to increase awareness of RR which is an added bonus. She travels really well in the car and is quite happy to settle down for a nap until she gets to her destination and has learnt really quickly to wait quietly until I have both leads on her before popping out of the car. She learns well with or without treats because she tunes in and listens to you, she sits nicely for her dinner and offers a lovely little discreet paw too. She had a much needed rest and sleep last night under my duvet, she is a snuggle monster and was happily snoring within minutes. Kiwi stayed in my room for a couple of hours while I popped out to work last night and she was calm and relaxed when I returned and she has been totally non destructive. I have books on my shelves, fluffy angora cushions and teddies lying around and all she wants is the duvet and a sleep. This morning we had a lovely walk into East Grinstead and she met a few people and said hello and only jumped up once because the lady had food in her bag (always the optimist)
We were lucky enough to find a coffee shop open so early (7.30) and although dogs were not allowed in we were kindly allowed to go in to get a take away coffe. Kiwi sat nicely and then had a lie down while we waited and I had another opportunity to share her story and talk about much needed doggie walkers for RR . The lady in the shop has asked for some info and I will pop in with a poster and info later. What a lovely person We then sat in the sun and I had my coffee while Kiwi watched the world go by. On the way back we saw some squirrels and birds. While Kiwi has a desire to chase some things she has improved immensely and can now mostly stand and watch the wildlife and then move on calmly - not with cats though The walk was calm and relaxed and she was ready for some breakfast and a nap when we got back. She is a very clean girl too. Despite spending months in a kennel environment she prefers to do her toileting outside. I have taken some pics but annoyingly I now have no signal on phone to post so will send asap. One of Kiwi enjoying spring daffodils and another with the tulips. Keeping everything crossed that this stunning girl will be picked and matched with a home of her own soon.

Kiwi is a real delight. She gives so much in return for simple things like a fresh bowl of water, a healthy meal, a nice walk and of course a sofa and a bed with a duvet to snuggle under and some cuddles and snuggles. We met quite a few people when we walked back into East Grinstead Town Centre yesterday afternoon and Kiwi gracefully accepted admiration and a fuss from them. We also met a Labrador and a Beagle who she said a polite hello to. We then went to another coffee shop where dogs are very welcome and sat outside on the terrace where we were brought our coffees and Kiwi was brought a fresh bowl of cool clean water on the house she was happy to have a lie down and observe her surroundings, people eating and laughing and a lovely view of the church and the grounds. We then had a window shop where she was admired by more people which she laps up and then home for some lunch and a much needed afternoon nap (Kiwi, not me) After a long nap Kiwi had her evening stroll. She is walking nicely on her lead and likes to have the opportunity to stop and sniff or watch the birds. Kiwi enjoys a mixture of walks that have included fields, EG town centre, high street, the suburban estate where she is staying and the park. Kiwi has enjoyed her NIP (nowhere in particular) walks - that are just a gentle stroll, giving her the chance to take her time, take in her surroundings and enjoy an unhurried harmonious time with the person that is walking with her and to enjoy that special togetherness between dog and human. Kiwi also enjoys a SIP - somewhere in particular walk where the pace is still tailord to her and we arrive at a destination especially if it is the coffee shop for a fuss and a drink. Kiwi enjoys calm play time and loves her dumbell that she can have a good chew on but mostly loves her cuddles and her snoozes as you can see from the pics that will follow

Kiwi slept very soundly on Friday night and had a lovely lie in yesterday. She really is catching up on some much needed sleep. She loves to bury herself under the duvet and stretch out completely and then have a good snore. Kiwis morning walk was around the roads and pavements and big grass verges where she enjoyed sniffing, exploring and having a good old roll. Home for breakfast and another nap. Kiwi had another walk into East Grinstead at lunch time and she was petted and admired by some lovely people. We popped into a big charity shop that sells furniture and she really enjoyed nosing around and got plenty of attention from the lady that worked there. The nice lady has taken details of our website and I have given her some info on RR. We had an unexpected surprise as a big black lab came trotting into the shop minus a lead and owner but luckily with a collar and ID tag. He made a bee line for Kiwi and they had an excited greeting, Kiwi was polite but probably would have preferred a calmer introduction as the other dog wanted to play but we were also surrounded by vases and china so not a good idea. We quickly found the owner and Kiwi helped me choose a sofa by testing it for sleepability and softiness. We then popped into the pet shop at the top of town to say hello and to get some healthy safe chews, boy did she like it in there, she managed to 'borrow' a chew off the shelf to taste test it chose to lie in the middle of the shop to lie down and munch (not discreet by any means) such an attention seeker We managed to leave after she had checked out what was on offer and then home for some lunch and a DVD while Kiwi caught some more zzzzzzds. We had one short walk in the evening before tea and yes, you've guessed, another nap. This morning we've had a short walk and after breakfast and a morning snooze Kiwi is now enjoying some doggie company with Benson my Mastiff cross for some calm recreation and games. Benson is only 3 and Kiwi is still a youngster and despite a couple of moments where they were a little over enthusiastic while playing with each other they were able to choose a toy each and have a chew and calm play with the toys rather than each other. Good manners and good self control from both dogs which is great to see and experience for me and the dogs. The play was just a little high level for their stage of introductions and was over stimulating them. Far better for them to be calm around each other so they can enjoy the company. Kiwi has enjoyed exploring a pyramid toy with a treat in it, a kong, a busy buddy, an empty toilet roll holder, empty egg box and a knotted rope. Good toys for her to explore, use her nose, chew and tear but no balls so she keeps her mind occupied and balanced and doesn't practice chasing. Kiwi was happy to play with her toys and leave Benson to play with his - so polite and very good doggie etiquette too. Benson is happy to share too and allows Kiwi to 'steal' a toy and then he will happily take her one. There are lots of toys, none with squeakers so they have plenty of choices and there are no resource issues with them. They are both a bit tired now and I think they are both going to have another snooze. Fingers crossed for Kiwi finding a home soon. She is a fabulous girl.

Kiwi had a relaxing day yesterday and was tired out after her play session that she shared with Benson. Benson and Kiwi get along nicely and it is such a shame my other two would not be so happy to share their space otherwise I would snap this little bundle of love up right away. If you look closely at the previous pic of Kiwi with the white tulip, the sign behind her says, 'spreading smiles' and that is just what this little girl does. We were out on our evening walk when we bumped into a man having an evening stroll and he stopped and said 'what a lovely looking dog', She certainly is and she also has a look on her face that is a mixture of young innocence and mischieviousness, I can't help but smile when I see her face and she has made me laugh out loud on more than one occassion this weekend. She has seen a few cats over the last few days, the first one she saw she sang a lot and the cat just sat there looking unimpressed and after a few minutes Kiwi decided to give her voice a rest and get on with her walk. The second time we saw a cat it legged it and again, Kiwi sang a bit, pulled a bit but was able to stand still while I gave her a slack (secure) lead and she was able to walk away but she was on the lookout for a while. The third time we saw a white cat, sitting on a driveway, we walked past from the other side of the road and the cat stayed put. This time, no singing, just some rumbling grumbling while she walked on which was much better and showed that she is developing much better self control and trust in her walker. My little one was the same and with time is now able to ignore them. Kiwi has learnt some new things during her stay. She has learnt to walk up and down stairs nicely, wait for her food bowl to be put down and then eats, she can give a paw lift and can give her paw too. She is very capable of walking nicely on the lead, she is able to walk past people in the street without jumping up and get a fuss while she sits or stands still. What a quick learner she is. Kiwi enjoys calm walks and calm games and activities to help her relax and enjoy herself. She has enjoyed a variety of walks from 10 to 20 minute toilet break walks to being out for around an hour with time to sniff and just meandering along. Sadly she will be returning to her kennel tomorrow but she has had a much needed timbreak with lots of creature comforts and plenty of snoozes, some calm doggie company and lots of cuddles with me. I think I can safelty say that young Kiwi has had a very happy easter

I have been lucky enough to take Kiwi for her walks both yesterday and tod.ay. Yesterday I had an enthusiastic greeting in her kennel and she was happy to have her harness on and get out for her walk. Kiwi loves to have a roll on the cool grass and we also saw some sheep that were in a field but fairly close and at first she was mesmerised, then she had a chat and told me how much she liked them and then walked on and carried on with her walk. Kiwi walked really nicely on her lead again and we had a lovely relaxing chilled out walk. She really is great company and regularly checks in to make sure you are still with her, bless her cottons
Today, Saturday, I had a brief but amazing pamper session with Kiwi in her kennel. She was soooo excited to see me and happy that she wasn't being left out (only Monty in today as all of our dogs were out on a very special sponsored walk) and I got the works - a full facial (wash with her tongue) while she gave me her version of an indian head massage - a Kiwian head massage. She was gentle and thorough and as we walked quietly out of her kennel ready for our walk she lookes gorgeous as usual and I looked like a yettie Kiwi walked really well on her lead again and loved exploring the freshly dug holes made by something or other. She is a naturally inquisitive girl. We had to walk past more sheep in a different field today and same as yesterday she had a good look, had a brief chat with them and then carried on with her walk. Kiwi always puts a smile on my face and no matter what, she gives me time to appreciate the good things in life - the Kiwis of this world and reminds me of how much dogs in our lives give us, so unconditionally and how much she would make a lovely pet dog for cuddles, walks, love and affection and all the usual creature comforts _________________ Four Positive Paws

Had a lovely lovely walk with Kiwi on Monday. We had a fun walk that was short but packed with lots of things including having lots of rolls on the grass, stops to sniff and explore, a few belly rubs and a good look at a donkey that she was rather surprised to see and then had a good chat to make sure the donkey stayed put and gave her the chance to take in the scene and move on. Kiwi walked really nicely on the lead and was her usual lovely self. _________________ Four Positive Paws

Kiwi was the last dog to be walked yesterday so Helen walked her and I tagged along with my GSD Herbie as he'd been in the car for a little while
We found a new circuit so did that with them both - they walked beautifully together - took absolutely no notice of each other but walked along next to each other - Kiwi really is very comfortable in the company of other dogs and is a genuinely sweet girl. The time that Dawn has spent with her has been invaluable - she has blossomed into the lovliest girl |

Kiwi has been wagging her tail a tad too much to try and attract every vol. dog walker into her kennel with a lead..so her tail has broken down and 4+paws has taken her home for time under the duvet to rest that tail or at least to give it the free air it needs..2 weeks should do it Lets hope her home comes soon! _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!

I took Kiwi out for her walk yesterday and she looked at me with those big brown eyes and then at her tail and back to me again as if to say, please could I come home with you for a few weeks while my tail is mended. How could I say no to her? So, we completed our walk with Kiwi jumping into the back of my car and settling herself down for a nice snooze on the dog bed. Kiwi travels so well in the car and just curls up as quiet as a lamb. She is getting plenty of rest and relaxation and some nice walks too. We saw some horses being ridden today and she stood quietly while they walked past us. Kiwi had a good look at some rabbits in the field that were fairly close and she watched mesmerised for a minute or two and then walked away with me to find something else to exlore. Kiwi is such an inquisitive girl and she is learning to explore calmly and is such a loving young dog. Fingers, toes and paws all crossed that Kiwi will find her forever or foster home soon. Oh and her tail is looking better already. What a love she is Pics to follow when Ive fixed the camera _________________ Four Positive Paws

Thanks for putting a smile on my face with your last post Or should I say an even bigger one as I do spend a lot of my time smiling at Kiwi. We had an interesting walk this evening. Not sure if there is some sort of cat convention going on tonight or if the word is out that there is a beautiful young dog in the Close and they've all come to admire her I parked up and having double checked the immediate area I opened my door and Kiwi looked very focused on something and as I looked around there was a cat, just popped out from under a parked car rolling around in front of us and showing off to Kiwi. I shut the door, shood the cat away. Kiwi was excited and looking to see where the cat had gone but was happy to carry on beside me for a stroll. We then saw 2 cats on a driveway that were not prepared to move so we had a chat with them when we passed them. Just about to go into the front door and Kiwi is looking up and has noticed something of great interest and yes, you've guessed it was another cat on the garage roof Kiwi is not a fan of the cat but I think the cats seem to be attracted to her (who can blame them)? I am very proud of Kiwi and how she has improved so much. I think it is safe to say that she would not want to live with one but she is becoming a little better on the lead when she does see one (or many as she has done this evening). Little Babycakes has had her supper and is now completely snuggled in her very own room with a sofa to herself with a big warm quilt and I even think I can hear some snoring as I type this post. What an amazing young girl she is. _________________ Four Positive Paws
