Current Status Available

Homing Requirements: Bruno would love a Lurcher or collie experienced family. He can display throat noises when initially pulling on his lead. Bruno requires his own secure garden. Bruno the Collie is precious around toys or comforts but easily managed by offering attractive substitutes. Non confrontational management: Bruno needs a person family who engages with him and attracts him into an activity. Can be sensitive around control on grabbing collar.  Bruno the Lurcher can open lever doors. Would love to live with another dog. Not for cats or live in children.

His Story: Bruno was abandoned by his owners in kennels. He moved into our care and has endured a long period of kennelling. Bruno needs his energy levels controlled with regular running exercise as any Lurcher. Bruno is neutered, chipped and vax'd. Now fostered with another dog in Gatwick Area

Advert: Bruno is a character, always with a smile to greet you. He is a little opportunist opening lever doors, but generally well mannered in the home. Bruno loves his walks, loves the sofa, pulls only at the front of the walk and is off lead away from roads. Bruno needs managed intro to strangers in the home. Bruno enjoys the company of other dogs. Bruno was fostered with tweenagers and adores their company...and their cuddles. Bruno travels well in a car secured or crated.

Bruno is a lovely Lurcher x Collie with heaps of character! Bruno mixes with dogs well outside though occasionally will try to herd but is soon bought out of it. Fosterer's quote "A man's best friend, he is loyal, lovable, soft and cuddly, great on lead and off, has good recall, loves his food. He can bounce a ball and catch it himself, loves to sleep downstairs.  He is Mr Magic terrific dog!! Bruno will work with his master and in friendship he is a fabulous companion.

Bruno's thread below: Watch his progress through our Rescue
Referrer's report: Bruno’s owners put him in boarding kennels while they went on holiday and never returned. In the kennels he was quite nervous to start but after lots of hard work from our volunteers he has learned to trust people and now loves going out for walks. He is well behaved with all our walkers but has not been around children at all.He has been walked with several different dogs and there have been no problems either on walks or in the kennels although he has not been loose with any other dogs. He is said to be around 3 years old. After a change in his environment he may need some more confidence boosting exercises but he does make friends quickly and once he trusts people they are friends for life. xxCelia

I was 1 of the many walkers who had the pleasure of taking Bruno out across the fields when he was in the stray kennels.  He was always bouncing around at the front of the run saying 'take me, take me' when I walked past his kennel with a lead in my hand.  Always very excited to go out and settled down nicely once he knew where he was going.  He'll always sit in front of you for a treat wherever you are, inside or out, think he's a foodie!  After his lovely walks, he would go back in his kennel and run to pick up a squeaky toy and dive in his bed.  Another lovely boy whose thread I will be watching willing him to go to his forever home very soon.  Good luck handsome boy.

Bruno joined me in the paddock this afternoon..a really lovely 'easy' dog. His brindle is coming from sighthound/lurcher. His fur type and tip of the tail white and collar/ mane definitely takes you to collie.

His energy is calm and placid; curious and kind. So took to Bruno today..his owners must have fallen on hard times or separation..bet they had him from a pup..you feel he has been a loved dog. We'll enjoy his company whilst we have the pleasure of helping him As always my pictures aren't the best but attempt to capture his character

Bruno gave me  a warm welcome into his kennel, not sure if he is used to a harness, over head no problem but he still wasn't too keen on hands under body, he is however bribable. A treat with one hand while I reached for harness fixing and we were soon harnessed and he was ready for the off.

Lovely responsive boy he found the tennis ball Kenny left behind and proudly carried it most of the way round before we lost it. I gave him a good stroke all over while we were out and that met approval so I think he'll soon look forward to the harness = walk

Bruno is easy enough to harness now but I don't blame him if the 'snip' put him off for a bit!

Had a lovely walk with Bruno, he does pull a bit but he's excited to be out, he seems to be getting used to traffic too only if he doesn't hear them coming up behind does he spook a bit now.

Here's the lovely boy sitting nicely for a treat

Bruno hitched a ride on Wednesday to the vets for his first vax and check over. He was a little fascinated travelling in the front seat and when I first switched the windscreen wipers on did the typical collie thing of trying to catch them with his mouth. I drove trying not to use them and when I really needed them I distracted his attention On the way home he was too busy lounging around and enjoying his belly being rubbed and giving little licks.  Sounded a bit chesty on the way back which I and the vet hadn't picked up. We'll keep an eye and I'll give him Milbemax  on Sunday once we know he has settled after his vax.

I took the lovely Bruno out today for the first time. I was expecting him to be very lively and a bit pully because he is a CollieX but I was so pleasantly surprised. Bruno was a lovely dog to walk, easy to harness and easy to walk. He is interested in everything (especially the sheep  :D ) and he is great company. When we stopped for a cuddle he was a little star, not a jumpy up dog but just enjoyed a good cuddle. A lovely, easygoing boy but with a good bit of cheeky Collie in him too.

Who could resist that face?

When I spend a day at the kennels I carefully select my 'lunch' companion which involves a drive to the local co-op purchase of sandies and enjoyment there of then a lovely walk. Bruno was my companion today. He settled very well in the front of the van..waited for me and what a welcome I got on return. He eagerly downed a chicken pastie then helped me with my cheese and onion sandwiches. Sussed him out as a 'foody'; typical lurcher..he will be very busy in your kitchen!

We then enjoyed a lovely long walk..the first picture needs explanation...

The second picture explains

Bruno the scardy custard..very wary of the horse and would not got towards but skirted around the edges to get passed.

The rest of the walk was fun..

Yes Bruno now has his lurcher collar on; his cough wasn't noticable on his walk so improving and a more affectionate intelligent and curtious dog you could never wish for! Roll on Bruno's homing..

I got to take Bruno to the vets on Monday, such a good boy in the car, much as he'd have liked to sit in passenger seat he sat in the back nicely and waited calmly but expectantly while I first popped home to pick up the notes I'd forgotten then at the vets to be called in.

Bruno is now on Antibiotics and Anti inflammatory for his cough and had his first monthly Advocate (always want to call that Advocaat  Rolling Eyes ) lest lungworm is involved.

Poor Bruno I am sure he thought he was going somewhere more exciting but no back to the kennels we had to head.

He isn't to mix with other dogs.

I took him out alone on Tuesday he didn't cough until we were heading back towards the kennels, I'll try a shorter walk today.

The vet isn't worried unless he goes off his food or/and becomes quiet, with Bruno this will be very noticeable  Wink

Well, I think that Bruno has two new fans :D

One of my dogwalking friends came up with me yesterday and we walked Bruno with Ricci.  It is so sad that he is still in kennels - there is absolutely nothing wrong with this boy that I can see - loves his walks and such a happy, cuddly boy Embarassed

You'd never guess Bruno is one of my favourites!

Lovely walk with a very calm Bruno, walks nicely on lead ahead but not pulling.

I was down to walk Bruno today as I specifically wanted to get to know him better a I thought he would be my kind of boy  Wink As it turned out Jilly Allen walked him and both of us were bowled over by him!  I have just started sorting out his photographs, but as a taster here is couple to wet your appetite...there will be more to follow!  Bruno gets my "Best in Show Male" award today and I reckon he has Jilly's too!

I guess after my recent kennel visit I am just a little bit smitten by Bruno so ... he was my natural choice for D for Dog's "Dog of the Month for July"! He will feature on their forum and his details will be included in their newsletter which could find him his home.

Heartfill

Fingers crossed that he will be homed before then!
