Here is the adorable Smiler. He was standing on my foot and was trying to talk to the camera saying... Where is my family - he so deserves a home |

I thought Smiler was a bit down in the dumps last week and I knew a game of ball would cheer him up so he came home for a play in the garden. Smiler loves going in the car and was as good as gold in the back. He was delighted to be let off the lead and even more delighted when I produced a tennis ball. We played fetch ( Smiler is brilliant at this) for ages, Smiler stopping to have a rest and a chill out when he needed to, exploring the garden and enjoying the freedom to roam. He came in the house and had a snack of meatballs and a carrot and then went out for another while chilling out in the garden. He really is the gentlest dog letting you take the ball from his mouth and being so careful not to catch you with his teeth. He looks up at you with his big brown eyes for guidance and reassurance all the time, delighting when he does the right thing and pleases you. A kinder, loyal more affectionate dog you would be pushed to find.
On arriving back at the kennels I decided to take him for a walk (and more cuddles) before reluctantly leaving him in his kennel to have a rest.

| By the time I got back from my walk with Michelle yesterday, all of the Gatwick South dogs had been out. Having some time on my hands, I decided to take Smiler out into the back field for some extra tlc - he has been tugging at my heart strings more than usual of late. We had a short walk and then settled down in the shade with Nina and Molly nearby. Smiler is a very affectionate dog who loves nothing more than treats, cuddles and belly rubs. In return, you will get the gentlest staffy kisses, loyalty and love. |

Smiler took me out for a lovely calm, gentle walk through the woods. We stopped only for cuddles as Smiler was just enjoying being out and sniffing around and smiling up at me.
I just love this boy!
best photo I have taken of Smiler - I love this......

I got the rare (because he is so popular) opportunity to walk the gorgeous Smiler yesterday, he had quite a bit to say as Minnie was with us and she is not only bigger than him but vocal herself so she needed telling . Smiler is quite distractable though I few changes in direction and he got the message and trotted along quietly (well quieter )

| As Smiler didn't go out on the charity walk I make sure he had an extra long stroll in the sunshine for over an hour with Molly and Taurus. All 3 dogs had a lovely time walking round the fields and Smiler was his usual calm, well mannered self. My favourite all round boy who I am hoping will have a forever home by xmas as it is so cold in the kennels for the dogs in the winter and he is our longest resident |

Meand Smiler again today. So used to the dogs running as soon as they were out of the kennel but Smiler takes his time and I nearly ended up tripping over him!!! He strolls along at a gentle paceand isno trouble to walk at all that probably why he gets out more than the other dogs as he is such a pleasure to stroll around with. He desperately needs his forever home as he has been in kennels too long so my Christmas wish is that Smiler will get that home that he so deserves and a big bone with a bow round it on Christmas day |

Smiler was my first walk of the day on Saturday and what a treat we were in for. Zoe (gsdlover) lead us on a new walk which took us over (and under) stiles, down country lanes and across fields. We even encountered a herd of cows on the loose and a very stressed man trying to catch up with them.
And Smiler loved every second of it! He had a real spring in his step and it was an absolute joy to see.
This boy tugs at my heartstrings every time I see him and is never far from my thoughts. He has been in kennels for as long as I have been walking and that is well over a year. Surely there is a comfy sofa somewhere out there with Smiler's name on it? |

Can I be added to the Smiler fan club please?
Nina had very kindly offered to drop me back off at Margarets but she had one more dog to walk so I gave Smiler his second walk of the day to keep her and Hero company.
It is absolutely beyond me as to why he is still looking for a home - he really is just the most adorable boy - you couldn't ask for an easier dog....in the nicest possible way, he reminds me of a little old man - he trots along on the walks, is soooo easy to walk its untrue - he would make the most fantastic companion for pretty much anyone......
I am sure that I walked Smiler at my induction which means he has been in kennels for far, far too long - I can promise you won't be disappointed if you decide to offer him a little place in your heart (and on your sofa ) |

I had the pleasure of meeting and walking Smiler today. What a great boy he is. He's not a puller, and likes to have a sniff around. He was such a gentleman when I had to get over stiles, and waited pstiently until I was over safely. At the end of our walk we sat down for some treats and he rewarded me with some lovely Staffy kisses and sat on my lap. I have always loved looking at Smiler's thread but never thought I would actually meet him. _________________ A dog's love is unconditional |

Smiler was the dog of the walk for me today. In fact he was probably dog of the walk for Ladylou too as we swapped dogs half way round. Purely because he was such an easy walk. He doesn't pull, he waits for you to get over the styles and he is just the perfect gentleman checking in with you as he snuffles on his way. He wasn't phased by the other dogs on the walk, but does like his own space. He loves a cuddle and sat calmly with Ladylou while she took a call. In fact, he was happy just to chill, relax and be close to her.
Smiler also has a massive fan club amongst our walkers - you ask anyone of them and they are routing for him to get his forever home and they cannot understand why no-one has offered to adopt him.
Smiler has been with us since July 2010 - in fact he arrived with us on my birthday I believe. So that is almost 18 months in kennels waiting for a foster place or a home of his own. For some reason he is being seriously overlooked.
Walking Smiler today was pure and simple ... a pleasure and the pleasure was all mine and Ladylou's ...
