Look at this lovely email we have received :
Dear Dee
We are so pleased to have little Winnie with us and thankfully she seems to have decided that we are pretty OK too. We took things very gently with her at first, letting her do her own thing which was mainly sleep and eat for the first forty eight hours! However, by day three, there was a waggy tail, rolling over for tummy tickles and then she decided that it really was about time we learnt to play Winnie style.and her tail has hardly stopped wagging ever since. She is such a fun little dog, loves her walks, her food, exploring the garden and brings a smile to our faces on a daily basis. We now have three baskets around the house - Minnie's, Nell's and a spare, all of which Winnie has decided are hers! She has a very endearing habit of checking up on us when we are working in the office - she comes in, gives us both a quick sniff as if to say "Oh, that's alright then, you're still here" and then takes herself off again to find a good sunbathing spot! She really is quite a character and a delight to have around - it's hard to believe that she has not even been here a month yet, it seems much longer.
I took her and Nell to the Cotswolds for a few days this week to stay with
my brother and wondered how she would feel about being taken to yet another strange house. No problem at all - she took it all in her stride and loved sprinting around his garden with Nell, new smells, great fun!
Attached are some photos of Winnie and Nell when we took them out for a walk earlier today. In time, I am sure that they are going to be good friends.
They are very polite to each other and seem comfortable in each other's
company, enjoying joint sniffs and playing with a ball - guess who let's who win! - no prizes!!
I do hope that Valerie will feel reassured that Winnie is happy and being
well looked after. She really is and I'm not just saying that.
Thank you once again for all your help.
Caroline
And her are a couple of those very pics :

Sadly Minnie is having goes at Nells the old collie and it can be nasty. We have concluded that Minnie really needs to be an only dog so Caroline and Mark will foster until we can find a good forever home for her. _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier!

Aw bless just had this update from Caroline :
| Quote: | Hi Dee
Well, Winnie has now been with us for just over six months and is very much part of the family. She is such a character and makes us laugh every day with her antics – I like to think that we are making her laugh too. After a few tricky months, she has really made herself at home and Nell seems to have forgotten about being attacked thank goodness – they have recently even started drinking together from the same water bowl with not a growl to be heard. I thought you might like to see some photos I took a week or so ago of Winnie, Nell and a very large bone!
With very best wishes to you and Lynne.

Little Winnie has now been with us for eighteen months and so I thought it was about time for an update. It would be fair to say that she was not without her challenges in the first six months so when she kept attacking our resident soppy Collie Cross, the lovely Nell, and threatened my husband when he got too close. However, it was love at first sight with Winnie and we really, really wanted it to work. And so it has. A lot of time and patience has paid off.
She seemed to think that I was “her girl” almost from day one, but got to realise that if she wanted me, then there was a man and another dog who were part of the package! When Winnie is pleased to see you or thinks that whatever meal she fancies at that particular moment is a bit overdue, she dances. I have been treated to this for ages, but for the first time, Mark came home a few weeks ago having been out all day and got the full-on dance routine. He was secretly rather chuffed, - he to whom all dogs and children normally gravitate had finally achieved the highest accolade!
Winnie has been on holiday with us to France a couple of times, the last during that really cold spell over New Year – when we were in the car, she spent her time on my lap, wrapped up in a fleece in her basket because it was just too cold in the back. Well….she is very, very small and it was very, very cold….not that she’s pampered of course! The dogs went everywhere with us, including restaurants. To anyone who thinks that it’s too much hassle taking dogs abroad, France is a doddle - we had no problems anywhere. Off to Northumberland in the Autumn to enjoy lots of lovely walks on sandy beaches – Nell and Winnie both absolutely love beaches.
At nearly 15, Wins is still fit and well, enjoying her walks, food and mooching around in the garden flattening my flower beds. Sadly, however, she started having seizures about six weeks ago. She has had various blood tests which have eliminated any organ problems and she is now on a relatively gentle drug to open up the blood vessels in her brain in the hope that this will help and we will not have to go onto to anything a bit more heavy duty. Thankfully, no fits for the last couple of weeks.
It sounds like doom and gloom, but it’s not. In true Winnie style, she seems to have taken all of this in her stride and is still our feisty, fun little girl with a huge zest for life. We love her very much.
A huge thankyou to Lynne, Dee and all at Rescue Remedies – we think you are all pretty amazing. |
