Homing Requirements: Percy will suit Jack fans. He is off lead and fluent with dogs. Not for cats or live in children: supervised around visiting children he is super. Percy could easily live with another dog or as an only dog. Non-confrontational approach.
His Story: Percy was found stray and homed without homecheck in with very young children. He nipped a child whilst unsupervised and was returned. Terrierrescue took him on to our books. Percy found his home and settled quickly with his owner who had no qualms about offering another terrier a home a year later. They lived happily together but their relationship broke down. Percy's owner is broken hearted to rehome Percy, but feels he is the easier dog. Percy is currently fostered by her parents with their Labrador. Percy is neutered, vax'd and chipped.
Advert: Percy; read Perfect! Now let’s just frame that with the words Perfect Terrier! Percy is an easy terrier in our books. He meets dogs well outside and most dogs well inside the house. He loves people/children with the exception of post-persons! Letter cage required as Percy can offer post shredding service on entry! Doesn't like fireworks, will hide. Loves the car and rides on the back seat with a harness. Busy tinker!
Percy is a short legged black and white Jack. Black and white does sum him up in the sense he has predictable elements. Once you know Percy, he is easy to read and befriends visitors after initial welcoming. Management is about recognising his clear body language and a harmonious relationship ensues. Any Terrier fan knows terriers are their own people.
If you are interested in re-homing please complete Our on line Homing Questionnaire so we can ensure our dogs are matched and will suit your circumstances/lifestyle.
Watch Percy's Thread below: See his progress through our Rescue Referral Details: Percy was found stray and unclaimed. He was homed for several months via the pound but apparently he nipped a child when 5 children were with him without an adult present. He was returned to the pound
Percy is a little love about 13/14" to the shoulder; lovely vibration, as you can see from his photos. I walked him through the woods and it was an absolute pleasure other than I could not get a head shot. 34 photos later I more or less managed it. He has been in kennels for 2--3 months. He is neutered but we will be getting his vax status up to date.
He has his own personality. He saw his kennel and put his feet down..so I carried him in and we had lovely cuddles as a consequence. _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!
Percy, Percy what are you doing here? Once again you scratch your head and wonder how such a super little dog ended up in kennels. He is an absolute treasure. Walked him with Buddy and they had a lovely, busy time. Percy is an easy easy boy to walk but it is heartbreaking to have to lift him up to get him back into his kennel At least it means plenty of cuddles for this lad .

Percy and Buddy walked together today but didn't take a huge amount of notice of each other - possibly because Buddy was having a huge sulk with me
As he trots along, Percy does a wonderful impression of a crab - a very slanted trot, almost as if his back legs are moving faster than his front ones. His markings are quite remarkable - very handsome but danity little chap.
On our return he decided to flatten himself on the floor and go no further so I had to carry him back to his kennel. I left him with a chew and treats which he seemed very pleased with.
Can any dog be happier to be out of his kennel?? I think not! Dear Percy was overjoyed to leap into the warm car when he snuggled into the bedding and slept all the way to meet his new foster family....would the meeting go well, would he like his new foster sister.... - this is the result:
The dogs had a wonderful off lead playabout, chasing each other madly and just having fun. Percy was very responsive to his name and sat for treats. He is SO happy and his foster family seem delighted with him.

Have just had an update from Frances and it seems Percy is being a good boy still -
"Percy is such a good little fella. He travels well in the car, is house trained, and good on the lead, (When settled I will try off lead as he seems to have good recall in garden) and good with other dogs. He has fitted in so well with our family, it is hard to believe that he has been in cold kennels for 2-3 months! He gets on really well with my boys aged 10/12 showing no aggression towards them. When he arrived he had to try everyone's laps and loves lots of cuddles. He does get on with my Labrador but does get protective towards his treats resulting in a small growl if the lab gets too close (which is understandable as you know how greedy labs are!) Percy just wants to be loved and hopes his forever home comes along soon. !
I am hoping to walk with Percy later this week so will take some more photos
I had the pleasure of meeting Percy on his walk this morning! Very hard to get a good photo as his pals were dashing about and he didn't want to be left out, standing around for a photoshoot .
He is doing really well and Frances is doing a great job at establishing some firm house rules before Percy establishes his own Percy greets other dogs very politely - even Rigsby tolerated him so he must be very non confrontational - and he and Izzy the lab have got on well although Percy could probably be just as happy as an only dog. He adores attention and cuddles and is quickly becoming attached to his foster mum.
He is clearly very intelligent and trainable, responsive to his name and food orientated. His true terrier character is emerging and he does need boundaries to be set and maintained so that he doesn't take advantage (as any self respecting terrier might!
He really is an adorable fellow and deserves a home to call his own so that he can continue to blossom.
Just received a really positive report on Percy . He is now sleeping quietly through the night and accepting the "no we dont bark at 4am" rule!! He has been fantastic with the children - they dont pick him up but he comes to them for cuddles and will jump up into their arms.
He seems totally accepting of other dogs and will happily play with them although is also happy to amuse himself. He is only tiny with a big heart and he is hoping his permanent home will find him soon!
Today I bumped into the delicious Percy on the common... in fact, he was faced with about 12 dogs all at once because we all arrived at the same time including Rescue Remedies dog Bruno who was rehomed in November!
Percy greeting a new friend very nicely -
The weather was pretty vile so pictures arent great but Percy was a star, loved meeting all his new friends, walked beautifully and Frances reports he is being a star house guest and settling really well! He is really flourishing in foster and is going to make some lucky Jack Russell fan very very happy!!
Lindsey jumped in the car to meet Percy as soon as her homecheck was passed.
Frances and family have helped him so much prepare for that moment...Percy is now homed. _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!

I would just like you to know that Percy and I got home safe around 7 he slept in a bed on the back seat all the way until I stopped for petrol about 6 miles from home at which point he decided to try the front seat (normally not allowed).
Following a good look round the house and garden, a bite to eat and a short walk, we settled down nicely for the evening, Percy was still trying very hard to keep his eyes open when Dee phoned but he soon gave up the fight. He behaved impeccably while I ate my dinner and stayed on the sofa on his own while I had a quick bath.
We have just had a game of ball, Ollie (JR X Lakeland) and Stella (goodness knows what but a real sweetie) were never interested in balls (only soft toys) so I feel a trip to Pets at Home for several small squeaky tennis balls is imminent!!!
Our thanks to Dee for the introduction and Fran for being a wonderful foster mum, rest assured all there will be plenty of updates and pics through the forum and if there is ever anything i can do to help you know where to find us
I am so pleased for you both! I am sure he will settle quickly and be a very good boy!! We will miss him at the common but delighted to know he has found a wonderful forever home....lots of updates and piccies please!!

Percy settled in a treat last night, no attempt to get on my bed went straight to his bed (in the bedroom) and not a peep til I got up this morning despite both the foxes and the local cats making a row.
Making himself at home in the office this morning, was sitting on my bosses lap for ages (I got a great pic but unfortunately no public server to upload it to) and he is now curled up in a little squashy bed under my desk, good as gold.
