Hi there - thanks for the initiative Sam  Very Happy

I don't know much about art exhibitions and that's very much your world, but if you are going to organise an event to raise rescue awareness and RR's profile then TinaD & I will help you as much as we can - both in spreading the word beforehand across the dog forums, our members, adopters and on the actual day/night.

I guess in choosing the 52 dogs to draw you should perhaps consider a good mix/variety of different colours, sizes, textured coats, characters and breeds so that they are all represented. People don't often realise that sadly you can find any breed you seek in rescue.

I am sure you will have the best eye to identify from the threads which photos give you the better material to work with.  It would be nice if we featured some of our longer term rescue dogs and we could highlight at the exhibition the length of time in kennels waiting for forever homes and perhaps even what that cost financially to rescue actually is. Many do not realise how much it truly costs to process a dog through rescue.

We could also put the history of each dog under each picture at the exhibition with the date they arrived in rescue and the date they found their forever home.

Then again ... do you want to highlight the plight of the Staffies alone and make it a campaign for them?!!!!

Please drop me a p.m. if you need further input and I can help you in any way.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

I think a selection of breeds, sizes and colours would be best for this purpose. Perhaps the best way to choose would be to look at the mff gallery - now I am moving way out of my technical comfort zone Shocked so someone more knowledgable might need to come in here!

I think the starting point would have to be the best pictures to work from and then work back from there? Presumably if the pictures are in the public domain there is no copyright issue and if any of the chosen ones are dogs that have been rehomed, it would certainly add extra interest in any auction to follow.

Bonesey, this is such a fantastic thing to do - thank you Exclamation

There are copyright laws on any photograph even in the public domain, you cannot take a photo and publish it elsewhere. However I will not be "copying" these photos - they are for reference only, the composition etc will be my own... I will also have asked permission to use them even for reference as it is polite to do so!! So will need to liaise with the mods. on here. (A very interesting point too - copyright remains with the artist/ or photographer wherever it is displayed)

That's fine, I am happy to contact the person/s who took the photographs where possible to get their permission to use them and log/track the permissions.  Plus I am sure a lot of our walkers would be happy to agree to theirs being used. We also regularly take photos for the dog ads and these can be used.

Sam, you just need to identify the material you want to work from and let me know which photos they are and I let you know when I have the all clear.  We should work to get 6 at a times so you are not held up and always have the next one ready to do.

Ok can I start with the little terrier Chleo "Gatwick 2 years" ? - just reading this thread has makes me boo - I have a lakeland /pattie X and I don't know what it is - she gets ignored. She is sweet and loyal and a bit complicated - she stands patiently whilst the white teriorist is tickled and cuddled but she rarely gets a tickle. Is this Chleo's problem? So sweet yet still to find a home yet would be a loyal friend? Anyway I digress she deserves to have her portrait painted. Can I use the photos Sharon?(bit fuzzy - sorry not a criticism - I'll manage!!)  S x
