1st June Monday

Picture of the day

Ruby nears day of release ... into Jilly's care

Sad Story of the Day Crying or Very sad  Panda came into our care today found stray covered in puncture wounds which were infected and bald patches on him; obviously sleeping on concrete. Found with an aggressive dog who had to be put to sleep .. who had obviously attacked Panda. Lovely licky nature, so don't think he has been used for guarding. He was over weight, but has slimmed down nicely. Kennel owner not charging us for his keep. Good vibes with people and dogs; she wants him to go to a good home. She has been waiting for a rescue to take him on for months, but no action.

Fun Story of the day Wink Woman said her dog used to go mad when she took it to Richmond Park in spring..Why? Its name was Coco and when the cuckoos sang he couldn't work out who was calling him.

2nd June Tuesday

Picture of the day

Alfie what does he have to do to find his family! Another day in kennels Alfie..tomorrow that Questionnaire may arrive!

Sad Story of the Day Crying or Very sad  Winnie arrived today. Found stray in season 1 month ago. Was very distraught in kennels but begining to settle. Highly emotional and her demeanour just shouts - this dog has had so little given to her in her short life...she is so needy, she is so bereft. How can you just abandon a dog who so obviously is so dependent.

Fun Story of the day Wink Met Phoenix a tan and white staffie cross, one of Niall's dogs again today. He was in the kennels for a brief spell. This time he bought a charming little friend with him, Ruby. We offered to neuter them both as they are now a couple and will be going to live together. They spent the day in vets in the same kennel and like 2 little love birds, they travelled in the same crate home.

5th June Friday

Picture of the day
Rodders The tallest of the Brindles; The funniest and see that backside sway on greeting!

Sad Story of the Day Crying or Very sad  Every sad story is a Staffie story- which one tonight? Wallace the 6 month pup left tied up outside a shop; Tanzy the 8-9 month Staffie who was abandoned a few days after she had her pups; or Carli who has sat in a kennels and no she wasn't sold and noone came forwards after 2 weeks  so she is on the list to be put to sleep, as no money in her! ?The others sold could pay for her delay. Can't see how the person runs dog business is can deal death. Sorry very angry tonight!

Fun Story of the day Wink Tim our vet has revised our costs to make them affordable for us. Is now coming to the kennels every fortnight to vax. dogs to save the dogs a long journey and us time; is taking leaflets on to their stall at the local summer fair next weekend. And has offered to put our websites linked to their new website being launched next week!

If you want to cheer yourselves up, have a look at the 3 guestbooks on each of the 3 websites. It often does the trick for me.

6th June Saturday

Picture of the day

Yes Murphy..our little man. Our kennel staff would be bereft if his home came up, but celebrating would last thru to the next day! love4  Mr Personality!

Sad Story of the Day Crying or Very sad  Very difficult times for us...we can not continue to save the number of dogs we do as funds have vanished in large kennel bills. Also kennels are now filling for the summer, so may God hold our hands whilst we have to say 'sorry we can't help, this dog must die for want of a rescue space'. Rescue Remedies has been the last hope for soooo many dogs. Totally dependent on movement of dogs into homes to bring our numbers and bills down and allow a chink for another. Oh for a benefactor!

Fun Story of the day Wink Little Roxy came out of her kennel with the air, "for Godsake come on, I've been waiting for this". Jumped into the car, eyes set on the front window; so keen to see the journey behind her so her little life could blossom.

Diary now on front of Rescue Remedies to attempt to reach the public as to the woes and joys of the Rescue. Terrier Rescue email hasn't been working for a week hence quiet front on terriers..hopefully now sorted.

7th June Sunday

Picture of the day
Been thinking of Jaspa a lot today as if Eddie goes into foster Jaspa will become my next foster. Lovely boy.

Sad Story of the Day Crying or Very sad  Sad day for us as it has taken Dee, Secret Squirrel and myself so many hours to get terrierrescue email working. There must be a new word in the english language relating to "rupturing your spleen" when computers and their software problems remain out of reach! All functioning as of 2.30 pm and questionnaires for terriers flowing again!

Fun Story of the day Wink Dee and John rescued Missie 18 months ago. She was a very damaged (emotionally) Dobie. It has taken great patience to bring her through in winning trust of any description. John has put a lot of time into offering her activities and training. Yesterday he went a little bolder and introduced 'down' as a concept further to 'sit, click and treat'. Missy achieved it but didn't quite grasp what she had achieved. She then enlivened, moved to different areas performed a posture and immediately sort eye contact and rushed over for 'treat?'. Oh yes she got in on the 4th. Dee said she watched with tears rolling down her eyes to see Missy relating and trying so hard to earn that treat!

Beginning to work on statistics for 2009. Bits and bob day but no movement; no homings.Organised neutering runs for this week and foster movements. Heavy week ahead at least 7 dogs for neutering.Panda, Suki and Oreo (staffies we are supporting) Deakon, Bobby, Bella and Rosco

8th June Monday

Picture of the day
Marli so controlled, good with people, children and so good with dogs. A lovely lively personality

Sad Story of the Day Crying or Very sad  Oh Bobby his energy is so high, so desperate to please but quite random in its attempt. He needs a garden with a mature couple to offer him the time and skill to express and tame his energy. Get the impression he has never had this opportunity; walks were probably a weekly trip to the park of leaping up for sticks and jumping at his lead. Bobby you are just at the start of your journey..may have to take him in as my foster as he is young enough to blend with dogs but very unskilled for his age. He needs the work NOW

Fun Story of the day Wink Walking Alfie with Simon and first statement was 'hum just a kennel dog he has lost his personality being locked away for 2 yrs...I said nothing inwardly smiled. 10 mins into the walk and Alfie had done his business and began to relax into the walk. Turns around and smiles..Simon engages.  10 further mins and Alfie is showing Simon all his training..which paw this one or this one? Cuddles develop at the next step and Alfies sad loving eyes impact on Simon. As we approach the kennels its 'Such a lovely dog can't believe he has been in kennels for so long.

9th June Tuesday  (Neutering day)

Picture of the day

Buster has had a miserable life so far and just when he thought it couldn't get worse...Janet scooped him up and offered him 'dreams and joy' Buster moved into foster today

Sad Story of the Day Crying or Very sad  A dog warden called me today with a dialemma, a young 18 month old staffie bitch found stray with a lead, collar and muzzle on. She was picked up by the police and had a swip at a colleague on collection in her terror. Kennel staff afraid of her, she is reactive to dogs. Dog warden says in her view she is frightened but what rescue would take her on; who can offer her the time, skills and love she needs. Very unusual for a staffie to be growley around people so is she being judged whilst she goes through an ordeal? Does she follow thru and put her sleep or give her longer time with very little chance of a rescue place coming up in the height of summer. We have so many dogs all I can say is call me tomorrow and we can talk it through further.

Fun Story of the day Wink Always so lovely to call in at Gatwick and Croydon kennels and met volunteers ... PaulaK and Liz (Just Springers) there with Alyson, Elaine and Tina at Gatwick ... Ali, Jessica and Marie in with Emma and Liz. Lovely buzz for the dogs.

Dee hard at her record keeping today

Dogs IN

Into foster homes Buster and Ernie
