Hi there
Fingers crossed and hoping to see you both. We don't have any librarian requirements (book sales) tomorrow, but we will find something for you to excell at as usual _________________ SHARONR - ADMIN

Some blue sky, some fluffy white cloud and a little breezy. So far so good, fingers crossed
Paste tables packed, suitcase packed, posters printers by the bucket load. 1st time I've cooked liver cake (had to liquidize in the garage as Tex wanted to attack my domestic appliance)!
Lilian (TinaD's mum) will be with us today _________________ SHARONR - ADMIN

Hi everyone
Well the weather was kind to us afterall - can't believe we've managed 5 weeks on the trot without rain!
We had strong competition this week with a double gazebo next to us with tombolas and soft toys (another dog rescue) followed by the arrival of a dog biscuit supplier van all kitted out with professional wares.
Today's highlights ... we had some lovely visitors again this week. Our fundraising photo icon, Moss, put in an appearance and the lovely Belle and her mum spent the afternoon with us and entered some of the dog show categories. Once again, we were thrilled to have their support.
TinaD's dog, Lucie, got many compliments as she is so well training and TinaD entered her at the last minute into the Fancy Dress Dog Category - sporting a pink RR bandana, pink harness and guess ... the pink/white rabbit ears ... she came in with a rosette in 5th place.
We also had several enquiries about dogs, one of which was a lady who had lost her black lab Jet (male) and was thinking about homing another. I told her about our former Jet, now Jess and she got a little twinkle in her eye - we will see, you never know. Posters were also freely given and enquiries for the liver cake & biscuit recipes made
Tracey the event organiser also made us very welcome. She has said that next year the whole event will be held in one massive field instead of split between two with the dog show being kept separate. We would definitely give it another shot next year.
Well we did the best we could and we raised ... £103.50
Our next fundraising events will be: Parklife Festival/Dog Show, Haverfield Road, Mile End, London, plus
Burgh Heath Companion Dog Show, Burgh Heath, Reigate Road, KT20
Both on the 26 July 2009 _________________ SHARONR - ADMIN

I would like to add that although £103 doesn't sound like an awful lot-especially compared to some of the others that we have done-this really was a FANTASTIC effort! The dog show was in a smaller field than the main fair (which had rides, stalls and an entertainment stage), behind a large hedge and was not visable from the main field, which meant that the only foot traffic we had was really the dog show people.
I actually said to my Mum this morning that we would be lucky if we made £50, so to have made over double that was fantastic. Mum did a great job manning the tombolas (she gets better every week!!) but the star of the day had to be the lovely Sharon who took the initiative and with just a box lid and some dog biscuits/liver cake, went around the whole fair touting her wares-a la 1950s cinema usher!! She managed to sell nearly every bag (we came away with 5 bags of liver cake) and SUBSTANTIALLY increased our takings.
As Sharon said, we had competition from other stalls selling/doing the same things but i think we did better than most of them. We had some kind donations and a lady even donated her dog toys that she won in the show!! We appreciate all of these displays of kindness!!
It was lovely seeing Belle and Angela again-Belle actually won a rosette!!!!! And i was so happy to see Moss (and Paul and Annie, of course!!) I LOVE Moss!!!! and i seem to have bribed him very well with my continual gifts of Liver cake and biscuits and got some LOVELY cuddles off of him Paul and Annie brought more stuff, some lovely crystal glasses and a bottle of bubbly (*hic*)
Although the money doesn't reflect it, we actually had a good day xx |

Well done, everybody, sounds like a great day and the image of Sharon with the lid selling the liver cake - - well
Tina, I would be very happy to buy the left over liver cake off you, if you could freeze and then post? I will reimburse you the postage. I am on my last bag and Jaspa loves it |

Well done to the whole team!
You guys were really up against it being in a separate field and with competing charity and comercial stands. I think that all your hard work is reflected in another great total. Don't knock it! It shows how hard you all worked to raise every penny of that money. Believe me, we know how hard it is to resist your sales techniques!
It was lovely to meet the beautiful Belle, we have seen her photo, but she is even sweeter is real life. Well done Lucie for parading in bunny ears, she is such a good sport.
Thanks too to Tina's Mum for voting for Moss in the photo competition.
We will not be able to come to the next couple of events, but wish you well with them and will catch up with you guys soon. |
