Given that Buster was a dog and that a pitbull is a dog they're bound to share some DNA so they're on to a winner there.
So their argument was shaping up to be that he had pitbull in him so he would have been killed anyway. Words fail me.
I have wondered at challenging Battersea over the trades description act... ie Battersea Dogs' Home... But I can be quite literal in my understanding - ie a home is somewhere you live not somewhere you get euthanased if your face doesn't fit.
Lynne you didn't fail him. He was failed by an organisation that is out to make a profit from misery and which hides behind words like 'home' and 'assessment'.

I couldn't agree more, Battersea have failed a beautiful dog who deserved better I for one will never support them again and have told them so.
But, rescue remedies is, like rochdale a safe haven and without the wonderful work you do many other dogs wouldn't be given that second chance they so desperately need. |

To be fair to Battersea they do an amazing job doing what they do. We went looking (Mum and I) before we knew about Rescue Remedies to Battersea.
They rescue and rehome an awful lot of dogs every year, and without out these huge big brand organisations there would be even more dogs out there for Lynne. Because of their resources Battersea rehome about 3500 dogs and cats a year.
They have had huge problems with dog who are in their words 'gifted' to the organisation especially in recent credit crunch times. I guess there comes a point where everyone whether they are a big organisation or a little one simply cant save everyone.
Battersea are vital in their role of rescuing dogs who otherwise would end up in the same condition that some of the poor guys that Lynne goes and finds. If they rehome over 3500 dogs a year can you imagine how many are coming through their doors.
The 'baddies' are not the people trying to help, whether they are the big guys or the little guys who sometimes have to make a decision about who they can possibly help. They are the breeders who sell their puppies to people who are not checked, and the people who buy these beautiful creatures without thinking about what a fourteen year commitment really means. They are the people who advertise on websites 'wanted staffie for free' - without thinking of the vet costs, the feeding costs and the care for the dog if you want to go away as well as the amount of time you have to give to your animal to make sure that it has a happy and balanced life.
What happened to Buster and others like him is heartbreaking and tragic, but it isnt the rescues that cause the deaths.
Sorry for the long post, I just feel that we need to make sure that support is given to everyone who cares about these animals - little rescues like Lynne who to be fair is a specialist rescue with the range of very special critters who come through her care, and the big guys who deal with the massive volumes. No one is better than the other. Sometimes you just cant save them all you just have to do your best.
Poor poor Buster, and all the others like him. But please lets not blame the people who are helping.
