Zebedee 1 yr Staffie Gatwick (S) W Sussex Kennelled
His Story: Zebedee was found stray and bounced out of 2 homes. We have taken him on and he has responded to training and has become very special to us all.
Salient points: Young Staffie full of affection, but had few skills before he arrived. Now walks well with other dogs. Needs secure garden, older children or visiting younger children.
Advert: Zebedee is a young Staffie. Eager to please and not really sure why the world reacted like it did to his fullness of heart and "delighted to meet you" routine. Zebedee is now learning how to walk nicely on a harness or/and halti. He has learnt how to meet dogs nicely and is learning not to fall upon people like a rash! Zebedee is still young and so needs an active family who can reassure, involve him in constructive employment and carry on his socialisation programme. Zebedee is neutered, vax'd and chipped. Currently in kennels in Croydon area.
So Zebedee is on his way and Zebedee will be matched to his new family so won't be bouncing homes again! He is a fabulous lad who seeks direction and has become calmer and realised people understand him, love him and positively enthuse in him. He is brilliant, bright, positively bashful!
Please visit Zebedee's individual thread, in Dogs needing homes in our care on our forum to find out more about him and follow his progress.
If you are interested in re-homing please complete our homing questionnaire so we can ensure our dogs are matched and will suit your circumstances/lifestyle.
"Please note that this dog is currently in kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found".
Zebedee 's thread below:
We have taken over Zebedee's care as of today. Further details to follow but here are some pictures of the lovely lad. All neutered, vax'd and so ready to go. He is already a favourite with our Rescue as he has been cared for and walked being within Croydon kennels

So glad Zebedee is with us now! Now he can get more walks and socialisation. I have taken him out walking with our gang already and on the lead he has been mixing well with male and female dogs. In his kennel though he shows more of a problem with other dogs. He is another one who has lost his voice a bit but still manages to make enough noise to let you know that sitting drinking tea at the cafe was much less fun than walking! Loves his cuddles and giving you a good face wash.

I walked Zebedee today. Absolutely adorable little thing, oooh so cute! Really quite small and a bit thin too, poor little lad! He also seemed a little bit nervous and unsure of things. All he needs is a loving home with someone to feed him up, give him lots of cuddles and assurance, and he'll be the loyalest loveliest friend back to you. As it was I got some lovely cuddles and face washes!! He even has an 'endearing' habit of wanting to give you a kiss as soon as he's had a drink of water.... gets that extra sloppy-ness into it, mmm, lovely!

Yes...Zebedee is regaining his weight now due to a nasty tummy bug he picked up that he just could not shake for a while.
All is back on track now though and he is eating well. Give it a couple of weeks and he will be back to normal.

Took Zebedee out today and mostly had a lovely walk except his natural exhuberance did not go down well with the stately Tiger Lily. They soon settled their differences though and walked alongside each other nicely. It is a joy to see this boy coming along now. I'm sure with lots of good experiences and a bit more maturity he will improve all the time. Mixing better all the time so long as it's sensible. Didn't have time to stop for cuddles today which was a shame as he gives such lovely staffie licks.

Took Zebedee out 1st today as he hadn't been out for a while, really settled in the kennel now, got the harness on quickly with no fuss.
He really is an eager little dog, doesn't pull just keeps the lead taut. He will 'sit' well if a car approaches, isn't fazed by people, traffic, livestock or cyclists.
He got plenty of fuss and attention at the halfway point which he responded to well by making a big fuss of me

Donna walked Zebedee today while I walked Tammy. He was bouncy at first in his excitement but soon settled. Very focussed at the cafe when he realised there may be bits of a ham sandwich on offer for good behaviour. He did lovely calm sits. They walked back side by side interacting minimally but nicely. Zebedee got a bit more interested once Tammy said hello to Bobby.

Zebedee again came to the cafe for lunch. Walked nicely on his halti although did protest a little. Made friends with some workmen at the cafe and managed to get some chips for sitting nicely. Walked quite quietly back afterwards. Lots of lovely face licks for my daughter when he got a chance, but luckily she is quite used to that

BusterEmma asked if I'd take Zebedee out today as he appears to be suffering a bit of kennel stress. He was keen in the kennel but sat quite well when he realised I was putting a harness on him, not a halti.
On the walk he was very good, he kept the lead taut but didn't pull hard. He responds well to commands, ie wait, stay & sit, he is eager to get where he's going even if he doesn't know were that is.
At the halfway point I watered him and gave him a few treats, he'll sit and paw for you happily, but his favourite trick seemed to be taking a big drink, then shaking his head all over me followed by licking my face and neck
On the way back, we stopped and spoke to girl asking directions and Zebedee behaved perfectly, didn't jump up at her, just sat and waited. He's still not fazed by cyclists, joggers or vehicles.
I'll try and give this chap a bit more attention, maybe even get him for the day next week.

Zebedee was getting very frustrated in kennels. He is such a people-dog that the fact that he could not interact with his favourite past time was sending him crazy. He started to show signs of kennel stress and I am afraid that is something that is just NOT allowed with us!
As luck would have it, we have just had some new funky kennels built in the orchard area of the kennels and these are spacious and in full view of all the comings and goings of the kennel working day.
He is like a changed dog. He is happy to chill when he is not being exercised and even at exercise time he is not pacing looking for people because he has constant interaction with them throughout the day. When they walk past they say hello and he gets extra cuddles which suits him fine. When he goes out in the field he explores and sniffs about and is far more relaxed about life in general.

Great news that Buster has something to cheer him up

BusterI saw Zebedee in the new kennels this morning looking eager, so he was first walk of the day. He's definately more chilled in these kennels and he was harnessed up in no time.
On the walk he was great, taut lead, no pulling, stops and waits on command, sits on command.
We did another 2-mile walk today, so he's had some decent exercise this week, I've promised him a day out next week so that'll give him something to look forward to over the weekend.

I gave Zebedee a walk today to make up for walking past his kennel so often the past few weeks!!
Wow, if anyone wanted a dog for cuddles and laughter, Zebedee is SOO your man. He's so unique and makes me giggle so much. Very exciteable at first but this just adds to the fun in my opinion, I don't actually find it difficult to get his harness on. Just more fun He loves his cuddles but isn't too overpowering; instead of some of the intense face washes I've received from others, Zebedee is just content to ensure he has at least one paw on you (but preferably two!), and gazes lovingly into your eyes. Who can resist that? He gets all the cuddles he wants Definitely a people dog, will adore yo whoever you are. Gorgeous little guy.

I took Zebedee out today when it was was quite warm and muggy, so the walk was cut a bit shorter.
I didn't get to take him out for the day last week as he'd managed to cut his foot and wasn't allowed out for a while, so I tried to make amends today.
On the walk he was his usual self, nice taut lead, no pulling. He was more attentive today and kept checking back to make sure I was there, on several occasions he walked next to me intentionally bumping into my legs just to let me know he was there, when we stopped to talk with a workman Buster made a fuss of him then sat down quietly.
At the halfway point we had a big fuss, and as usual I got licked to death!
Another great walk with the little fella.

Lovely long walk with Zebedee - his foot is all healed up. He is so sweet how he keeps checking back to make sure you are still there when you are walking along. Zebedee is slowly improving his social skills all the time. If he was out and about on lead or at training classes he could come on in leaps and bounds. Needs lot of good dog experiences. Sweet little boy though - always keen to say hello , give a thorough licking and have a cuddle.

BusterSue & I took Zebedee out 1st this morning, he was keen in the kennel but not too much enabling me to get the harness on him quickly.
On the walk, keen as ever pulling on the lead a bit, but well behaved.
At the halfway point we had a big fuss session, lots of face licking and climbing all over my lap. He met a lady who is a regular walker today, she made a fuss of him and gave him a couple of biscuits, Zebedee behaved like a true gent, sat there quietly and didn't jump up once.
On the way back he was still keen on the lead but not too strong, a lovely walk in the sun

Zebedee was my 1st walk today, it's a lot easier as his kennel is away from the paddock area, it doesn't interfere with the running of the kennels.
I got him into the harness really quickly today, he was so well behaved. On the the walk he was really keen as usual, but he never pulled hard, just a taut lead. We bumped into a regular walker along the way who dropped him a couple of biscuits, and as usual he behaved perfectly.
He is great fun as a companion, he loves making a fuss of you as well as being fussed himself.

Met Zebedee today..didn't have time to walk him but had a cuddle. Such a lovely lad now happier in the new kennels but knows how to play it to get attention!
(Change of name as former has bad associations in our rescue)

ZebI took Zeb out for the last time today We did a long walk up the front gates of the school, he was on a harness and was great.
At the halfway point I watered and fussed him, at one point he sat up on his back legs, resting his two front paws on my arm, as I was stroking his chest, his eyes started to close as if he was going to sleep, just wish I'd got a video recorder with me.
I can't believe he hasn't had a chance in a forever home, he came close recently but was pipped at the post by another needy dog. His time will come, hopefully soon, and he'll get the home he deserves.
Good Luck Fella

Zebedee was the first to jump into my car yesterday. As quiet on the journey well just a little chatter with Winnie. He has lost weight and is now back on his naturediet and should soon pick up again.
Lovely lovely boy..."Scream! How comes you're still with us?"

Took Zebedee for a walk yesterday - lovely to see him again
He has matured so much now. So loving, he just adores being stroked. He seems to be taking the move in his stride but at the moment it is all new and exciting for him. Such a lovely boy.

A lovely walk with a lovely boy Lots of cuddles which he so enjoys. Every time I see this boy I can't help but think how far he has come and just how much more he could come on in a home environment. Stability in kennels has helped him mature but now he needs a home to really bloom.

Tom and I caught up with Zebedee for the first time today since he's moved kennels. He was very excited to have us both in his kennel and grabbed the harness just like he's done before to try and start a game of tug! I immediately let it go and not long after he dropped it, realising we weren't playing.
After that he was pretty good about letting us get the harness on and sort his lead out. Had a really good walk - he was interested in the sheep and trying to stare one of them out... then got bored of that game and wanted to get on with his walk. Never hung about for long, though still kept looking back every so often to check we were still there and coming back for a quick cuddle. Well he did insist on walking in front. And happy to go for a run too.
Such a lovely dog, he really would make someone a fabulous friend.

Poor Zebedee is not putting on weight despite lots of good food. Painfully thin back end But he is happy to be out on his walks and see people
Such a lovely boy. Took him to the pub for lunch and went to the bar to order and he was so keen to say hello. Helped me with my chips and bread crusts - no problems with his appetite. He is so loving and has so much to give - I so hope his turn comes soon

walked Zeb with Alison and Ky. He behaved well and when we sat down was far more intersted in climbing on my lap for a cuddle than interacting with Ky. He is very thin, and the kennels are working on getting some more carbohydrate down him.

Zebedee was engrossed in the 'Jolly' ball today. I left the paddock to change my camera battery and my absense wasn't noticed. However I called him over and on went the lead and off we went for a walk. Discussed his diet and tummy with Sue..the challenge always is to settle his tummy as he can have diarrhoea. Sue is still trying and now has further info. from Emma. Zebedee took the 'Jolly' ball into his kennel and it was in his bed being played with as I left..not that he noticed !
We are giving him some pilchards on trial also.
