Terry Red fell Terrier 18 yrs plus Market Harborough
History: Rescued from an overflowing Yorkshire pound Stray unclaimed
Salient Points: Older Terrier who presents as an easy mixer. Full faculties and in good health
Advert: Terry is a smooth haired Red Fell Terrier A "Fella" who fell onto his feet! Terry came out of the pound to join a his foster pack of 8 Westies and fitted in as though he just needed to hang his coat on a hook and be 'at home'. He is happy to flow but also responsive to 'No!' Neutered, needs chipping, has had first vax; wormed and flea treated. Enjoys his walks, his food and companionship.
Although Terry is an older dog his hearing and vision are in tact; he walks well and is alert and looks to his foster mum for approval and direction. Happy with the Rabbits and probably would be fine with a cat. Just a super duper Fella. Isn't currently presenting with any issues. Isn't demanding by nature. Oh Terry where is your terrier!

Poor ole thing - lets hope he just saw the whole episode as an adventure holiday.
Made me think of reclaimingrebus's cautionary tale about leaving your dog with others and no new tag when you go away - it could have turned out so much worse

OMG ... can't believe that and to think he could have lost his life! Will happily take his ad down from all the websites/forums and put up homes wanted ads for the kids!

Spoke too soon, owners have decided they don't want him after all. You know .. don't you just love and trust people!

They've had a dog for (potentially) 18 years. It goes missing, then is thankfully found (very unlikely for a dog of that age). And then you decide you don't want him! I really hope that family don't go out looking for a young dog now!
Hopefully he finds a nice sofa to curl up on for the rest of his life soon.

How could they Still, by the sounds of things he is better off where he is. Fingers crossed the perfect home comes up for him soon.

Absolutely stunned by this tale.
These people should be reported and BANNED from keeping any animals ever again!
My elderly Jack is around 16, (he's a rescue so not entirely sure - he was 'middle aged' when I got him) and I can easily fill up when I look at him crashed out in his basket knowing he hasn't got too long left.
I would take that dog in a heartbeat. Do you think he would be ok with a young jack who likes to pester A LOT? Also have 100 chickens, geese, turkeys, rheas, llamas, horse, cats..... Do you think...?

As you can see I have revised his age... one thing we learned was that he was actually 18 yrs. I shall send you his fosterers contact details to discuss further. Thank you HelenC.
(HelenC is close friend of our rescue homechecked etc. )

He's here!Got in 10 minutes ago with the lovely old fella!
He was met at the door by Elvis & Spud. All tails wagging!
He's peed round every corner in the kitchen and sniffed out all leftovers in cat and dog dishes.
He walked right past the cat and didn't bat an eyelid - astonishingly neither did the cat!
Elvis has decided it's all too much excitement and is back in his basket. Spud is facinated, but is being really good.
We are all really tired and are going to bed now.
Will update and post pictures tomorrow.
Thanks Lyn.

Still Alive!!!!Well we all went through the night no problems. Think it was 3am when we finally settled. He slept under my arm on the bed until he got too hot, & moved to Spud's basket (which he's never used, because the duvet is much comfier...)
He came with me on the bird rounds this morning and walked through pens of squawking birds without even noticing them! He came into the rhea pen (small ostriches) and again took zero notice.
Walked past the hen with chicks - nothing!
He's pacing a bit, but understandable considering the past few weeks. It's not affecting his appetite though, he's just demolished a tin of grub and helped Elvis & Spud finish up theirs.
I'll take photos soon!

Sounds and looks like Terry is settling in with Helen just fine!!!
Terry crammed into a basket that's too small for him. There are 3 in the kitchen & it's first come first serve so he's ended up with the small one tonight!

Oh boy, have I got an update from Helen, Terry's mum ... !
| Quote: | Hi Sharon!
I am almost breathless with excitement.....
Have just got home from the local fete - with dog show.
Ring one was posh dogs where people held their bums and noses in the air. Ring two was what they referred to as the 'novelty' section. How rude!
Terry (who has now properly been dubbed Crusty, because he's just a lovely crusty old dog) and Elvis were entered into the best male veteran class (over 7's) There were 7 dogs in it, Crusty came 6th (I so didn't realise he had a front tooth missing....!) and poor old shaky Elvis was 7th. Crusty did get 3 tins of Chum and a special rosette for being the oldest dog there though, which was lovely!
My Animals In Distress dog Spud was 2nd in the handsomest male class, he was also 2nd in best rescue dog section (Crusty was 6th, poor old shaky Elvis got a 'special')
Last class - 'Dog The Judge Would Most Like To Take Home' There was a field of about 14..... I entered Crusty - HE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We were only there for fun, but when she pointed at us and said "First" I thought I was going to cry!!! I am so proud of my old man!
Enclosed are some pics as you know how rubbish I am at putting them up on the site - please feel free to tell the whole RR world my crusty has a red rosette!
Lots of love Helen x |

Such a lovely tale - I have tears in my eyes again I am so happy that things have worked out for 'Crusty'. He really does deserve the loving family he has finally found
Guess he is one of those that will always be 'the special one'
