So horrible, my stomach is still churning :?

Have spent most of the afternoon making training treats for little Lucy.  It was sooooooo disgusting.  My very good friend (well she was until today) offered to make the liver cake (because I'm veggie and don't do any meat, let alone liver ooozing blood!!!!!) at her house ............... it was the first and last time  Confused

Buying the stuff was traumatic enough, but the smell of it being processed up raw and then, cooked  tongue6

Everything had just calmed down inside me after going and picking up children, when I had to bring it in from the car to put into the freezer and OMG I'm churning all over again.

Not sure I can ever bring myself to do it ever again  Sad

Wink The secret is to go to one of our fundraising events and buy up all the bags Tina D makes, put them in the freezer for future use. It is painless Wink

Evil or Very Mad However, you will have to fight me for them.......... Evil or Very Mad

I am not sure i like this thread!!! Karen STOP telling people to buy liver cake off of me!!!!  Laughing  Laughing

You are right Net, it is disgusting!!!! When i was reading your post i was thinking "Yep...Yep...YEP!!!" I know the feeling! Raw pureed liver is possibly THE most disgusting thing ever! I am veggie too and when i first started making it, i only had a stick blender and kept getting splattered with it!  puke_l It is much better now that i have a normal food processor (allbeit a small one!) but the smell is vile!!! The dogs love it though!!
Net

It was a stick processor thing she used - I had foolishly taken round a food mixer  Rolling Eyes   I realise now it would have never worked!

I would pay lots for some that has been ready made - you must make loads of money, or do people not actually realise it's true value  Wink

My friend - she does have a name, it's Alison - has heroically now said that because she didn't actually physically throw up she would make it again  Shocked

Isn't she great  love5

Anyone got any variations on liver?  I tried tuna as well, before the liver.  Not quite so bad and the dogs seemed mad for it too.  Dunno if it is the smell of the garlic that made it all worse Confused What do other people use?  Powdered or fresh?

TinaD ... seems you have competition, but I bet they don't add the secret ingredient you do  Wink
Tina D

I would happily hand over my dog treat making crown!!!!  Very Happy  I use powdered garlic in mine but that is because i ALWAYS forget to buy fresh garlic!!! They don't seem to mind either to be honest. My neighbour uses a tin of pilchards instead of the liver as you don't have to blend it, just mash it with a fork. You can also use hot dogs for training (but they probably aren't as good for the dogs!)

If you/she plans on making them on a regular basis,  would HIGHLY recommend upgrading from a stick blender! It makes the whole process nicer and quicker

I'm sticking to my bandanas.....  Cool

Shocked Not saying another word on the subject in case I get into some more trouble a lose a valuable supplier Wink  Wink

Another veggie here.  I have read the receipe that was kindly posted and definately decided against it.  Moss relies on Tina to be his supplier. I am happy to pay for his liver cake fix.

I picked up 11 packs of liver today (all that ASDA had), not to mention two chickens and 5 packs of bacon. It will be a fun-filled, DISGUSTING day for me tomorrow, making biscuits in preparation for Paws in the Park etc!!!

Guess you got the short straw sweet pea!  The bagging of 52 bags of bird seed and the labelling of ... I dunno how many, lost count, fell asleep with boredom ... bags of kibble was a breeze in comparison Laughing But we both know that it's great really cos it's all in the name of our wonderful RR rescue doggies so well worth it  Wink Saw their gorgeous faces at the kennels today ... swoon for each one every time!

It was Terry pratchett who said that being nosed by a dog is like "having a piece of defrosting liver lovingly pressed against you " - and yes, it does!

I was thinking of having a go at making the liver cake for Cooper but now I'm not so sure... Is he worth it?  Wink
