Simba Jack Russell 02.09 Sidcup Kent

Simba is living with his older brother and litter sister; a westie and a cat.  He isn't doing too well hence he is looking for another home. Needs to find his feet. Hoping a foster will appear for him  Sad

They are coming soon! Smile

Simba is coming into our care this week Rigsby is his 'champion' and dealing with arrangments

Simba now in foster! Smile   He travelled well, whimpered a little to start with but soon settled.  He loved to explore the garden and sniffed the guinea pig runs and hutches but showed no interest in taking it any further...what a star!

The resident dogs were not overly impressed with Simba but this didnt diminish his enthusiasm one jot.  He just wanted to play and play....and did I say play?? Smile   When he as given a telling off by Bella, who is the resident canine boss, he was very submissive although within seconds he went back for more.  He is an absolute darling, a really gorgeous little man and I would think they will queuing round the block for this fellow!! Smile

Here are some pics of the man himself:

Gorgeous little chap, sincerely hope the queue forms quickly for him.  Very Happy

Just to say Simba has short legs and may even have a bit of something else in there.  His tail is very thick and quite long.  He's SO handsome Smile .  Apparently he has settled well in his foster home and is sussing out the sofa for comfort Very Happy.

According to Simba's Vax card he is was born on April 5th so is only just 5 months old Smile

Simba has been a very good boy.

He has been clean in the house.

He's settled with Bella and Jasper - although he seems to be trying to suckle from her, something that Bella finds a bit disconcerting  Shocked

He spent a peaceful night - starting off in his bed, but then somehow was on my bed this morning (at 4am!) wanting to have a cuddle!  So he was let out for a wee, and then back to bed and he snuggled down next to Jasper and went back to sleep until 7am when the alarm went off - the others know about "snooze" but he doesn't judging by the vigorous licking of my ear!

He has shown a bit more interest in the guinea pigs this morning, but comes away when called.

He's a lovely little chap, who will make someone a very nice companion.
Helen

Simba has calmed down a lot - the manic chasing of Bella has stopped.  Mainly because she decided to play with him yesterday and he got fed up of being bopped on the nose by her paw and squished!!

He was allowed to mix with Jasper and Bella while I popped to the stables last night and when I got back he and Jasper were laid on the back of the sofa snoozing - no visible damage anywhere - which was good.

We met a horse on our walk last night and he was very good, he just watched the horse go by without comment.

He is a lot more interested in the guinea pigs now that he realises they come out of their hutch into the run in the garden - the pigs are not phased by him at all, in fact, he got a bit of a rude awakening when Jellybean bit his nose as he was pushing it through the wire!  He backed off a little after that Laughing

House training is still very good, although we seem to be sticking with the 4am wake up call!!

Wonderful news.

The gorgeous Simba came for a visit today after a trip to the vets.  All snipped and dew claws done plus a little manicure so now in tip top shape.  He met Cleo and Mabel and was very respectful and impeccably behaved - which is more than they were as they gave him a demo on how to destroy yet another sofa Smile   Pottered in the garden and came for LOTS of cuddles.  He really is a dear little fellow!! Smile

Hey little man, come and join us -

Do you like it up there?

Think I'll just explore the garden -

I like being stroked! Smile
Helen

Many thanks to Polly for springing Simba from the vets!  I had a frantic phone call from them asking me to pick him up as he was howling the place down, so Polly stepped in.

I had a very subdued, sore little boy at home last night - he was very clingy and didn't really know what to do with himself - at one point he fell asleep sitting up and ended up nose diving the floor!

He's a lot better this morning and has been allowed the run of the house with the other dogs today.  So hopefully, all will be peaceful!

I think he would benefit from a home where there is either someone home most of the time, or he has canine company as he really does enjoy company.

I hear that Simba is progressing really well and being a near perfect house guest! Smile   He has healed well from his vet trip, settled in really well with Helen's dogs and met everyone on walks with enthusiasm without being overly boisterous.  Even his house training is nearly 100% so long as you read the signals and act accordingly.
Helen is teaching him 'sit' and working on his recall and he is learning not to jump up when Helen comes back to the house.
Overall he is a little star!! Very Happy
Helen

Just a little update on Simba.

His character is starting to really come out - he can be a cheeky little so-an-so when he wants - the other day, I think I spend an hour telling him "no", "get off", "don't do that"  Laughing  On the flip side, he is a very loving little dog and loves to snuggle up to you and give your neck puppy snogs.  If he is really sleepy and snuggly, he will suckle on your finger too - so sweet.

He has now learnt the "snooze button routine" in the morning, and now doesn't stir until the alarm goes off for the third time, which is when it is time to get up.  He is also sleeping pretty much through the night without a wee-break.

He's been to the stables and met all the horses - he was fine with them until they came over to investigate him, then he had a bit of a bark, but was quiet when told.  He also got lots of fuss from the girls at the yard.

He has been to the vet for a post op check up (he had been neutered and his dew claws removed) and was a good boy - his stitches come out tomorrow/Saturday.  I bought him a toy rabbit in the vets and he has great fun playing with it.

Last night he was a little star - as the weather had dried up and his wounds were healing nicely, I decided he was OK to take down the bridle path for a run with Bella and Jasper.  He had three off-lead runs for just 5 mins each.  Each time he did a perfect recall to come back to me to go back on the lead - he was a little gem  Very Happy   So I will continue with this and just make the length of time off the lead longer and longer and continue with his recall training.

His sit and stay is coming on really well too, and he is starting to learn "paw".

I will try and get some more photos of him, but my camera is not quick enough to catch him - all I get is blurred tail!!

I could meet you this weekend and could take some more pics of the lovely Simba?! Would be great to see him running around off lead.  Well done Simba - what a clever boy! Very Happy

Met this boy this morning for a walk with Helen and her dogs.  What a fabulous little man he is  Very Happy!! He is the happiest little fellow with the cutest face and has progressed beyond belief with Helen's care and help from the resident dogs - Bella and Jasper.
His recall is great, he met joggers, cyclists, horses and other dogs and took them all in his (bouncy) stride.  He was off lead virtually all the way and showed no inclination to stray.  He is friendly, charming, fun, charismatic and a wonderful all round superstar.  His housetraining is almost perfect, he has learnt about lie-ins at weekends, he is just fabulous!! Smile
Can you tell I quite like him?? Smile
Here are some pics from this morning's walk -

Just a quick update, simba is settling in nice now and playing more each day.
lt took a day or so for Jake to leave him alone but they are playing well together now and
they walk together nice and sit before crossing the road, someone said today "what nice pair of well behaved dogs"

xxlynne

Having had the pleasure of meeting Rich and Jake...I couldn't be happier for little Simba.
Helen

Brilliant!  Glad to see that he has settled in well and that they are getting on.
Rich

Simba has settled in well and is good friends with Jake now. He is such a happy dog, when ever he wakes up or just every now and then, he comes rushing up to you all excited to say hello as if you've been out.

He keeps Jake busy most of the day playing out in the garden and down the woods on Saturdays they stay close by and can be off their leads all day now, he is everything l hoped for and he follows my son Alfie about everywhere.

faster than a speeding bullit, well my phone camera

hide and seek

sunday morning treat
