Sammie Cross bred 14 yrsSammie was sadly put to sleep today 17th Dec 2008 ..Dee will share the circumstance.
| Quote: | Very sad news.
Valerie called me at tea time and shared the news that poor Sammy had been taken ill yesterday. After tests and scans it was found that he had a mass on his spleen that had ruptured.
He was helped peacefully on his way this evening.
Valerie is such an amazing lady. Said how happy she was that she had taken Sammy on and believes that he was very happy with her.
There is no doubt at all in my mind that Sammy was delirously happy with her. They were always out and about and he was so loved.
She did share the fact that Sammy was never a good guard dog as he was too deaf to hear the door and greeted everyone at the door like a long lost friend.
So sad for Valerie but what a wonderful time Sammy had with her.
Please all spare a thought for them both | Dee
Here is his description in foster He was saved by Many Tears end of September and they cared for him for 6 weeks...Sam is the nicest guy you'll ever be lucky enough to meet! At a mere 14 1/2 years young he is scruffy, gorgeous and quick to learn! He is very active, and loves to walk, play and please.
Sammie is a real ladies man, having a whole harem of beautiful women at his beck and call. Because of this he takes his time to make sure that his male friends in life are not too much competition!
Sam's owners very sadly could no longer keep him, due to old age, so he is now looking for a loving new family where he can learn new stuff and have great fun!"
We took him on the 11.11.07...remembrance day and thanks to Dee's research we were able to home him the next day
Dee knew I was collecting from Many Tears and Sammie was her plea...oh yes yes yes he didn't deserve to be in kennels though in Many Tears he got the very best care they could provide. Here is their write up..
"22-9-07 Sammie is a 14 1/2 year old cross bred dog. He was taken to the vets to be put to sleep - not because he is old and suffering but because his owner lost his home and thought no one would want an old dog. Sammie is house trained, good with the grandchildren he had met and seems good with other dogs but will chase cats. He is a very sweet fellow who deserves a chance. He has been castrated and had his teeth sorted too.

Sammie has arrived in Richmond and is mixing with 7 terriers. One tussled with him in the first hour he was in; obviously he presents as entire male being newly neutered..he took it in his stride. His left eye is opaque but good vision with the other. Sooooo lovely he'll soon find his home in fact Dee has a home check lined up!
