Rosco Staffie 1 yr if that Croydon Surrey

Rosco was facing certain death in a northern pound..our fund raising event in Bordon on Sunday has allowed us to save him.  Well done Karen and Tina D. He comes into Croydon kennels this week
xxlynne

Rosco is a young Staffie.  He is small in stature and the classic stockier type.  He has an extremely attractive energy.  He is fun and has that seductive walk which denotes business; excitement; applied purpose and 'frolick quality'. You can see how his legs go every which way. (Not sure he didn't have a wee dram before we set off)! He likes to hold the lead in his mouth, but doesn't damage it.

Not captured well here, but better than the first pound photo.  We will get more ....

I love that last picture of him, he's got such a cheeky look on his face....

Good luck Rosco and thank you to all the people who raised funds to enable Rescue Remedies to save him.

Rosco

So I collect ed Rosco as well on Saturday, courtesey of you guys who stepped into rescue him and Deakon

I put him in the crate in the back of the jeep as he was SO overjoyed to see new people! more confident than Deakon and a real "hello world, everyone is wonderful" type staffie.  He travelled very well and made the most of the breaks with cuddles when we stopped. Highly affectionate, didn't mind when he and Deakon bumped into each other at the pound and was delighted to get to his new home. He seemed a little overwhelmed with the concept of "being let off the lead". and raced round like a lunatic! He is the most beautiful chocolate brindle boy, leggy and smiley.

Definate heartstrings tugging for both - he is the same colour as my bitch and Deakon is the same colour as my old staffie girl.

New walker Jessica took Rosco today. She will  probably post when she is registered.  He was a bit of  challenge at first - liked to play with the lead so we took a chained lead. Didn't manage to get a harness on him at first but eventually he settled enough to try again but a 2 person job. He did settle nicely though on the walk after a while. It is early days for him and I'm sure he will come along fine with a little bit of regular training and consistency which he will get at the kennels.  Not great interactions with Saidie at the cafe, needs some work on socialisation.   Loves his fuss though and he is a lovely looking boy which his photos don't seem to capture.  Very huggable.

Hi Jessica here, as alison said I took Rosco for a walk today and he was great company! I loved walking him. I think I struggled a bit with getting the harness and lead on him which was my fault, he wanted loads of cuddles and affection and I came in and started trying to put the harness on without saying hello! My fault - won't happen again, After about 5 mins I gave him some affection and then he stopped chewing the lead! Hurrah Success. He loved sitting and leaning against me at the cafe and sat on my feet which was sweet.

The last picture makes him look much smaller than I thought. What a lovely looking boy Exclamation

Rosco was great today he had a nice walk. He is so loving he would just love to be cuddled and stroked all day long. He's very energetic and I think once in a home with those regular long walks and routine he will be such a great dog. I think he responds well too hes very trainable!

Yesterday Rosco had a pleasant journey to the vets..the snip! and travelled back strangly more excited than when he went. Wouldn't make too much of the holding the lead. He obviously has done this and making a thing of it will make a thing of it. No attempt to chew through on either parts of the journey. Really lovely energy, and that look he melts you with his smile!

Rosco had a nice walk out again today. Held onto the lead for a while but settled. Seems almost like a security blanket for him.  Typical good hearted cheeky pup with a touch of naughtiness thrown in.

Don't know what was more of a feat, capturing the delightful Rosco on camera or Lynne?!!! LOL! He is a super little dog, just the right size and proportions and his coat is glorious.  Really in superb condition and a very pretty face.  So much wants to please and so ripe for a cuddle.  Lovely boy.

Rosco

Took Rosco out today, eventually. It took me some time to get the harness on the boy as he seemed to want to play with it rather than than wear it! Rolling Eyes
Once on the walk he was fine, he did try to tug the lead a few times but tired of that after a while, very pleasant time Very Happy

Is there any news on Rosco?
EmmaSemple

Yes. Smile

Rosco has now gone to a lovely new home. Sadly their previous Staffie cross was stolen a while back, but now new house, new garden and new start and they felt that Rosco deserved that new start.

Here are Rosco's new charges...Samantha and her two boys...

Update, pics to follow when I have time!

I took Mr on his first long walk today at Croydon arena - I bought him an extender but as noone else seemed to be about let him offlead and wow! For a dog that I was told needs alot of work, his recall is pretty good, and when he isnt listening....all I have to do is throw a ball or stick......

He is doing the school run with us in the mornings, and seems a lot more excitable when they are walking with him, but he is still pretty responsive, no real pulling, holds the lead in his mouth, but we just ignore it, although the children find it very amusing, he doesnt chew the lead and just likes to hold it. When I speak to him and tell him what a good boy he is while walking he seems so happy, looking up at me and his whole back half wags lol. Ive chosen to ignore the lead pulling as I dont want to make it into a 'thing'. The lead is literally limp, even when he is jumping and trying to catch it.

Still great with the kids and I, cuddly, if a little bit nippy - but not with the children -  nothing that hurts and we are working on that. Have an appointment at the vets tomorrow for a checkup and just to get him registered there,  he really is such an easy dog to look after, a real pleasure to have him in our family. He is very active but also a little couch potato - he spent the morning slouching on the sofa with me giving me a big cuddle.

He is still chewing but, again, nothing serious, and we have already managed to teach him to 'leave'. He is doing very well with that, soooo eager to please!

Ive scrapped the bed downstairs at night time, because, although he doesnt make noise and complain he prefers to sleep upstairs with the children and I, so I have left his bed in my room but its never been used as he prefers to sleep around the children, which I am monitoring of course.

Thanks so much for Roscoe - he is a lovely  little boy.

Will post a detailed update later on this evening....sorry for the blurred pics, they were taken on my phone.....

How are the walks at Croydon arena going? I spent many a happy hour wandering around there as a child although that whole area was still known as 'the sewage farm'  then and not a country park! My parents left Elmers End a few years ago now so have not been back for a while.
