Rhona Staffie x DOB 27/9/08 Gatwick (S) W Sussex Kennelled

Quote:
Rhona – SBT – dob: 27/9/08 – female, neutered, micro-chipped and up to date with vaccinations

Originally brought into Battersea in May 2009 by the father of the owner who had gone to Spain and apparently wasn’t returning. It seems they had had Rhona since a puppy and told us that she was too boisterous around the younger children and that she could be destructive when left alone – she had damaged a wall. They also said though that she was good with people and dogs.

Our assessments have found that she’s a sweet natured girl who does need experienced owners who can implement all necessary ground rules.

She likes ragga and squeaky toys though can get ott with them so work will be needed to instill a swap/ leave command.  She likes her food and knows a sit command, she can take food gently and was fine with a chewy treat.

She has been on for general handling though can get a bit wriggly.
With other dogs she can appear uncomfortable around ott characters and can find them intimidating at times – she has relaxed around other dogs when there’s room to move and she can get out of their way if she wants to.

Potential problems: Rhona as a 8 month pup in May was being unsettled when left alone and destructive so will need experienced owners who can work to overcome these issues. She can jump a five and a half foot fence so gardens will need to be securely high fenced.

She can get ‘mouthy’ when overexcited but does respond to general commands well.

Medically, she had sore ears on arrival but these were treated with drops – she did have a bad lot of kennel cough but this was treated and she recovered well ( June 2009 ) – Battersea spayed her in August 2009

Rhona has arrived. Sue is very impressed with her.  She is similar to evette but lighter framed and longer legged. Just settling into new residence..welcome Rhona so nice to know you! Smile

Sadly didn't get to the kennels until 4.30 last night so didn't have time to meet Rhona probably but I said hello through the kennel door. She looked sad and a little trembly. Slender framed. It must feel all new and uncertain for her. I was thinking of her last night, Battersea would have been a mass hysteria on fireworks night being in the heart of London so at least we have saved her from that.

Took Rhona out today and yes she is a little shaky/nervous but loving too.  She saw me coming and going a few times and this meant she was quite settled when I went in to see her later. Excited but not too difficult to get the harness on.  Had a lovely walk with her - at first she was terrified of the sheep but then one ran and she wanted to give chase but was calm with no barking, she may have just wanted to play.  She has the end kennel so can see you going in and out and she kept looking hopefully at me when I passed again.  She is  a lovely girl and I look forward to getting to know her better.

Poor Rhona missed out again today as I got sidetracked and then the fireworks started. What is astonishing is how quiet she is, as dog after dog goes past her. I gave her a toy, as I did to everyone else, but really she just wanted some attention. first on the list next time sweetheart,

Just a whirlround shoot on Rhona

Rhona is much more confident outside her kennel. She is affectionate and can leap up to say hello but easily diverted and controlled. Walks well on the lead and her energy is quite calm under the circumstance she finds herself in. Amazing looks..striking!

Really nice litle girlie this - easy to handle and although interested in the sheep , easy to call off from them and recalling nicely on the extender.

Rhona is just delightful  Very Happy  High excitement levels in the kennel because she knows she is going out but once on the walk a little angel. She stops and looks to make sure you are there and is thrilled if you then get down for a snuggle and leans into you.   What a lovely, lovely girl.

Dear Rhona came out to play today. She had a little run but her focus was on company..a few leaps to say hello and to ensure engagement. She has the puppy close to her paw tips. She is beautiful..so much a whippet cross staffie. The pictures below show more the bull breed which gives her such a loving nature. When she walks her ears are held close to her head lying parallel down her neck so much the sighthound. Really feel Rhona is an accompanished dog despite her chequered background. She is gentle, sincere and concerned for your welfare. A loving bitch in deed  a well sort after cross breed.

Exquisite markings!
