28th May
A busy and stressful day.
Yesterday had a conversation about Velcro a Patti who can't be kept and put to sleep (PTS) suggestion was being used.  Had to be there for her..details came through today and family can keep a little while longer but she is just due to come into season   Today 3 calls of a similar nature 1 Fell terrier 5 yr male squabbling with collie just coming of age Patti has to go  think they may contact tomorrow as emergency offered them lifeline..do not PTS!; 2 Patterdale bitch lepted up and bit an gardener in the property nextdoor but no boundary wall so 'her' territory PTS seriously considered said we'd stand there for her; 3 male patterdale ran off when let out of kennels and nipped a man in the adjorning golfcourse PTS being put forwards as viable way to proceed.
Supporting Tia's Staffie trial day

Good news on Sammy (Sunday meeting) and Jimmy (Friday homing).

Firm enquiry in on RonniePip Squeak is coming back in near future
Could not find Scooby..when sorting the dogs out for bed..tried to call missing dogs no. answer ..feeling sick but also feeling its so unlike him to escape.   Standing in the back garden in the dead of night I heard a fox cry in the distance then a jiggle..got a chair next to my neighbours hedge and strained to look over called his name  called again  a jiggle then suddenly his smiling face as he lept up on to the hedge for me to pull him over! Ask no questions but boy did he get a welcome home!!
xxlynne

31 May
Scooby escaped out garden again..taking a running leap at hedged side..managed to get him back from nextdoor-but-one neighbour who used the opportunity to give Lorenzo an ear full of how we have made her life hell with dog barking in the garden..Lorenzo spent day raising fence to 8 '! At bed time we still had Scooby.
Sadie found her new family.
Day blighted with going to collect Mitchell and taking him to be Put to Sleep.  It so nearly didn't happen loved him so much. Reasoning was He was an indiscriminate biter who usually gave warnings and when in his stressed moods the whole pack were running scarred. But on homing into a VERY worthy family he hadn't just biten but held on and would not let go of the man's hand. Yes he must have been scarred but he had crossed the line where knowing he would bite 'whoever', was aware he could do such a thing presented ourselves with a possible scenario which  he wasn't in control of and would always present a risk in our psyche in our home. We are just about to have building work going on for the rest of the year..and this would be doubly stressful for Mitchell. The  potential owners placed no blame; and begged me not to put him to sleep...but you have to be responsible and each has their own lines...we have only had to put 3 dogs to sleep for behavioural reasons in 5 yrs and each were indiscriminate biters who had absolutely no control in the moment as to where or who and what they attacked. If anyone wishes to challenge I am happy for a dog chat thread to be started.

Mitchel

June 23 Monday
Bad day today for me. Monday's are always dreaded. People have drama's over the weekend and make decisions..Solicitors must register most divorces on Mondays. Shattering call came early on Candy is coming back having developed antisocial tendencies outside and having to be muzzled for both dogs and people. Crying or Very sad Nowhere for her to go..but need to take her within a fortnight.Dee kept calling with snippets of good news to try and cheer me up I knew her game!
Scooby got out again this morning I have measured it -he is jumping 7' 5"!! And now I think I've cracked it. (This is how we were with Minxie until we Minxie proofed our garden)
Spent the afternoon trying to forget dogs by doing a huge dump-run then getting home exhausted and not knowing who to walk first.
Abel still very distressed crying out from 6.45am onwards. Only settled when actually in my company.
Glenn not happy with pups in front room so tried him with others but Glenn was far too nervous of Abel and they ended up having a tussel
Fern twice the speed today she was yesterday and almost using her leg naturally.
Pip Squeak has ?Fleas despite flea treatment a month ago.Bathed and stronghold.
Don't know if smiling or crying..we have Meg and Bruno..coming midweek with nowhere for them to go..a minor detail as no space in our kennels!

Lynne's In depth diary today 24th June 2008
(House managed in sections Loft rooms Buster; Front loft room/emergency room free (Suki on trial). Middle floor Back bedroom Poppy; Main Bedroom George, Brandy and Fern, Study Mocha. Ground floor Front room Pippin, Pip Squeak & Glenn; Kitchen Mack, Toby and Scooby. Back Room Minxie; Lassie; Bono, Abel)

6.10 Coffee arrives..lick on the nose from George. 6.25 Kiss on the nose from Lorenzo he creeps out the house believe it or not all is quiet (first time for a week )..
6.50 get up and creep to shower still all quiet Buster has been waking up at 6.30 asking to go out ! 7am quietly open Poppy's door get clean trousers out the wardrobe and take parcel to loo. Return for Poppy and quietly carry her to the garden via front door...a few barks..yes Abel; Glenn. Return clean Poppy's room and change bedding go into Mocha's room turn on PC. Bring Poppy up with non squeaky toy and sausage. Climb up the loft rooms and quietly pick up Buster take him to the garden..sadly only 5 mins in the garden and he starts to respond to barking dogs..first time he has done this for about 4 days so have to taken him back.  Change his water bowl and take in fresh water for Poppy. Decide to walk Mocha before touching downstairs dogs. On return send a few emails.
8.15 let kitchen dogs into garden (Toby; Mack and Scooby) clean kitchen and put recycling out. Let front room dogs out (Pippin; Pip Squeak and Glenn) mixing Pippin and Scooby for first time (may be second meeting) but energies are not too harmonious.  It goes OK..clean front room. Abel really barking in back room bless. Bring Scooby Pippin and Glenn into front room. Leave others in garden. Do first wash-up. Go and carry Fern down stairs decided she joins the walk for the first time in a week as her leg is much better. Leave her by the frontdoor and then go back in bedroom and put George and Brandy on leads carefully managing their energy and noise..close the bedroom door to restrict noise transference. Manage George's energy as he flies at the front door and down the garden path with me on the other end of his lead!! and Brandy on the other.  Fern able to come out of the house independently this am. 3/4 walk for them due to Fern's leg weakness Brandy protested but accepted.Took George up then carried Fern up. Brandy stayed on stairs as he likes to do.Called vet and made appointment for George's checkup and 2nd vax. (10.30) Let back room dogs out mixing Pip Squeak with Abel for first in house (They were walked together on Sunday) Pip Squeak nervous and barky..but settling. Abel given individual walk just to relieve tension and working on his confidence outside. Called one of our dog owners who had offered bag of food for us close to vets. and arrange to collect on route to vet. Dee called whilst I had a cheese roll. Got tearful out Candy's return at end of call.  Took Brandy with the view to putting him in the bedroom and because upset walk straight in to Mocha's room where I needed to get George's vax card from and my diary.+. Realised it immediately and scooped Brandy up but Mocha was as surprised as Brandy..so no problem. Left Brandy on upper stairs. Put camera battery on charge. Collect things for trip and answered emails. Took George to car. Bought dogs in from garden to avoid noise.

10am Called in for dog food and 1 mins chat with Frederica. Went into vets without George initially settled vet bill. Chatted to Mandy who has one of our dogs to find she had lost her for an hour and a half last week when Snoozle got spooked!. Took George for a walk awaiting vet. Talked to vet Cristobel about Lorenzo's niece  who is a newly qual. vet needing to see vet at work. C. too busy with surgery move in next month. Vax'd George and checked his mouth. Happy with tumour site. Bought 15 geraniums on way back £14 ..bought slice of cake for lunch ate on route. Put George in bedroom. Forgot to put rubbish out for dustman..put it in back of car to see if I could catch them tour of Ham for 10 mins..alas. Let front room dogs out in garden. Cleaned front room moving huge dresser as urine collects under the base and have to clean it every 3rd day. Lady called from Northern Ireland looking for a Patterdale for her mother who adores her Red Fell. I said to complete questionnaire and I would approach friends in Ireland. Wally's fosterer called..arranged to go over and walk together tomorrow to see Wally's problems outside tomorrow morning. Put Brandy in garden. Put dogs back in front room clean water and breakfast taken in. Walked Poppy. Put washing out with dogs in garden. Treat sessions with garden dogs  Bono VERY keen surprised me! Neighbour shouted at Pip Squeak's pipping and squeaking over nerves with Abel. Took a few dogs into kitchen. cleaned garden. Mutley's owner called should arrive 1.30. Walked Mocha.  Confirmed with Jane food order had arrived.Carried Fern down and gave her 10 mins walk. Gave G. and F. treats.Emails.Dee called poss. home for Elgar.Sorted new collar out for Pippin and Pip Squeak. 2nd washing up.Walked Buster.

2pm  Mutley arrived with Helen and baby. Talked for 20 mins and then walked for about 40 mins assessing Mutley. Went into house to reorganise dogs and got Mutley water...meeting Mick and Stella and Marcus on doorstep..returning Marcus's lead and collar. Chatted and Marcus cuddles.  They just off into Kingston then on to Bushy park. Water for Micks dogs and Mutley then photo shoot of Mutley.

4pm!!! Try to feed dogs before Lx comes home. Started to feed dogs and sorted treats cupboard out by front door whilst waiting for some to eat. Made a cheese roll and coffee. Went in to front room with Brandy as he eats better if alone with me. He started with cheese! then ate a little. He tends to eat when we go to bed doesn't like dogs around and for me to be there. 2 calls focused them on website. Put wash load in. Cleaned back room and changed all water bowls in backroom; garden and kitchen.Cleaned bathroom. Dee called poss homes shaping up for Elgar; Salsa and Lulu!!  all sound good. Kennels booked for Thursday for Bruno and Meg. Discussed Sukis hip xray report decided not to treat with medicine unless she shows discomfort.  Lx home tried to give him time hardly acknowledged him last 4 days. Sat in garden with glass of wine.  Put Minxie in and bought Fern into garden to meet her friends Lx very happy with her progress. Abel and Pip squeak playing and playing with Bono joined in. Lx started to cook.Walked George. Walked Mocha. Sent email to Many tears re Thursday transport for Meg and Bruno. Walked Buster. Called Katie asking if she could get a Sammy report and post it on his thread.

8.15 ate Tea in bedroom as with ground floor being refashioned only room with TV. Watched news.Wrote bulk of this diary. Good questionnaire in from Scotland. Carried Fern up to bed. dee calls very happy Elgar homecheck set up with katie; lulu's Home check set up with Sue..Suki news tomorrow after 'fosterer's mum gets back from hols tonight. Dee awaiting call from lynne about Salsa's ?home. Garden dog put into kitchen and back room. Poppy into garden Planted 3 geraniums in front window box.  Racket inside recognised Pippin.  Pippin creating barking barking at Scooby.  Scooby intimidated. Tried voice; tried pulling Pippin away just went in stronger in barking barking.  So tussled with Pippin handling him strongly lifting him and putting him to ground saying no Pippin no to shock him out of it. He went to go back to barking and am thinking I'll have to separate these two tonight. Took Pippin on the sofa and really talked to him getting him to focus on me  then turning it into a rough play; loving session.  Pippin knows I always go into him last thing at night a give him a lot of contact and love  and we often just sit for 5 mins in peace together if only dog or just Glenn. Important for him to acknowledge love and bond into that closeness as he is out of his body most of the day playing and chewing bones and very flighty energy. He fell into the loving play sessions and settled right down.  Left the room having cleared it and turn light off both settled. Took Poppy in and carried Buster down to garden for our last thing at night garden session.  He did so well used the garden stood by dog doors but despite so much racket going on in response to him jingling about he didn't make a sound. He was able to be in garden 15 mins but bought in to stop dog noise.

22.11 House quiet!! but will take George for his last walk.Took Brandy up and offered him his food in the hall he started to eat it. Let kitchen dogs in garden and put out washing..Lx joined me. Had a cup of hot milk and honey together. Updated Buster and George's thread. Will plant geraniums in front garden and add a picture of it tomorrow. Brandy barking for me to come to bed...

Loaded diary thread Nite nite 11 .06 usually in bed 10.50.

Thank you for taking the time to give us an incite into your day when you clearly have so little free time.  I thought I was a serious dog lover, but in comparison to you I fall very far behind, the majority of us do.  I have nothing but admiration for what you do and how selfless you are.  I just want to say "Thank you for being you".

18th August Monday

Forums 1st birthday today

..sadly coupled with the council issuing us with Noise Abatement Order which could threaten our fostering and even keeping our dogs. Have made such efforts to minimize noise for so long now just feel gutted that the neighbours can just object to "dog noise" without measurement as to permissible.  They know a local dog makes more noise than my dogs put together but it is the activity they actually object to.  If any read this I'm past caring. We live is such a NIMBY society. Feel like selling up to a family with teenagers or young children ..then they'd know noise!

MacTaggart definitely going through to adoption
Freddie Lakie coming back ?tomorrow

The phone went at 8.15 and an angel was on the other end.Lynne this is Wendy from Yorkie rescue is there anyway you could help 2 standard Yorkie's in Southampton.  I had a long conversation with Wendy to find she had been rescuing for 19 yrs has ended up with 37 Yorkies in her house..the biters and the medical problems she doesn't feel she can home.  She has huge vet. debts and often easier dogs new owners she homes don't bother to send her a donation!
