Raj Staffie 1-2 yr old Sevenoaks Kent

His Story: Found stray in Yorkshire. Attached himself to the pound manager and managed to get into another dogs kennel over the top to be with her proving his dogs skills to everyone's shock. Lovely, lovely boy.

Salient points:   Brindle small framed Staffie. Adores people. Needs company and to manage his own company. Will break out of a crate. Needs secure garden and exit points. Basic training class as has missed out.

Advert: When does a prince become a King (Raj). Destiny is the key and Raj's destiny is dealing his cards right now as to which 'house' provides the right 'suit' for him. We swept the Ace of Spades out of the dealers hands ... and offered him a rescue place one minute to midnight. We think his dynasty is Diamonds ... so we are setting about preparing for him to take up his throne. He is neutered and just going through vax's. He is to be placed on our website to stare out at his subjects as they too recognise his majesty.

Raj is a Diamond dog and his gentle, sincere and humbled temperament will win him his home. He needs to have the company he was so deprived of in his last existence judging by his intense neediness to be with people now. He sits by your side and soaks up the love, radiating it out in bucket loads. He smiles and welcomes ... he is Royal. Fostered nr Fleet Berks

Please visit Raj's individual thread, in Dogs needing homes in our care on this forum to find out more about him and follow his progress.

Today would have been his put to sleep day instead he is being taken in awaiting transport at the end of the week.

This boy is gorgeous.  We went for a walk and I don't think he has been in the country before because he was sniffing a feather and it kept making him jump when it moved.  Someone must have loved him once because he had a staffy collar on and is a friendly responsive boy.  He has scraped his face on the kennel, I think he has Sep Anx because he was trying to get out of the kennel to get to Ruth, the manager of the kennels and is happy when he is with her.  When I took him for a walk he kept wanting to go back so consequently on the way back he pulled a little. Stocky and not too tall.  Kennel staff think might be ok with other dogs because he managed to get into another kennel with a dog and although he just wanted to get to Ruth he wasn't bothered about the other dog.

Raj has arrived.  He is a very sweet soul. Perturbed and worried by his current ordeal. A people dog spending all day in his own company. He will settle. Wormed tonight and neutered on Friday.

He is under weight and his coat is 'dull'

Raj moved house today..he has joined our community of 'super staffs!  He was a bit excited in the car but wouldn't you be...then he had a short walk; a run in the paddock after being fussed in by Emma.  He ran to say hello to dogs facing the paddock.  He was severely told off by a boarder..  you could see his tail slow down and then raced away to myself as if to say 'he doesn't seem very happy'

Brilliant character is Raj...extra special and yes he loves dogs.

What a lovely boy. A long legged brindle fella who just beams confidence and has a bit of a glint in his eye.

The pictures don't show what a handsome boy he is. He has the typical Staffie smile that makes me melt. He is showing all the signs of being great with other dogs and I plan to introduce him to Cassie soon. She loves to play and maybe they can help each other burn some energy off. Very Happy

How did Raj get on with Cassie???

Raj has been moved to Funky-Town...the new kennels built in the last couple of days.

He loves to be with people and he can have far more attention when in these kennels.

Raj is an affectionate boy who has a certain amount of cheek too. He wanted to go on a longer walk and sat down to protest when we turned back.  But he soon got the idea that it wasn't going to happen today. In his new kennel it is much easier to get fuss and he makes the most of it.

Raj

Razz
Well, we have been fostering Raj for 10 days now.  What can we say, he is the most fantastic boy!

Initially I was a bit apprehensive as my son of 9 is VERY excitable - I was worried that Raj would get over excited when playing.  But my worries were totally unfounded, as Raj is such a calm and stable dog.  He gets on famously with my son of 9 and daughter of 6.

Raj has walked with us every day on the school run since he's been with us.  He ABSOLUTLEY LOVES all the children at the school, and licks their faces clean.  He has the most fans out of all the dogs outside the school.  He has even managed to snatch the limelight away from my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel!  The children absolutely love him. There is always a big circle of young children around him - loving him and stroking him.  He adores all the attention.

Raj really has a need to be with people.  His life would be complete if he could spend every moment in someone's company.  At first he battled with sleeping in the kitchen at night, but during the last 10 days he has started to accept it.  He is still reluctant to go to his bed when he knows it is 'lights out' time, but with kind words and a bit of love and a treat - he does end up going willingly to his bed.  The last few nights he has only scratched at the door once or twice.  He is learning that nobody comes no matter how much fuss he makes, and he is getting used to the idea.

Raj has had some excellent basic training in his past.  He knows most basic commands and will obey them - instantly!  He has tried his luck with getting on beds and sofas, but gets off without any hesitation when he is told to.  He sometimes goes to lay in 'KC's bed, and when told to go to his own bed, he does so instantly.  He waits for his food like a proper gentleman! Shakes hands even.  Even though over-excited when a walk is in the offing, when told to do so he will sit down and wait calmly for his harness to be put on.    I am getting him to sit down and wait for me to enter and exit my home first - he is catching on fast!

Raj is SO eager to please, he would be a wonderful dog to take to training classes.  I am sure he would be the star of the class!

Raj would love to live in a home where he has a doggie companion of similar interests to his own.  Also maybe a dog of a similar age.  My 'KC' is almost 7 yrs old and has arthritis.  Raj is just so eager to play with him, but KC is too scared, probably due to the arthritis.

Raj walks excellently on the lead, and wants to say hello to everyone he meets.  So far he has not shown much interest in chasing cats.

Raj loves going in the car.  I put him in the back and have to tie his lead onto a hook.  Otherwise he will leap over and settle himself down on the seats in front.  He is getting used to the idea now that he should stay in the back, and lays down calmly during the journey.

Raj is really enjoying going on long walks every day.  Behind our house we have wonderful woods and heathland to walk in.  He enjoys meeting dogs, and most times greets them and wants to play.  A few meetings have not been as successful, but this was I think due to inteference from the owners.

Raj is starting to fill out a bit now too.  He looks wonderful!
I will try to post some photos soon.

Raj has arrived! What a smashing chap. He's settled right in and won over the first of the doubters already Smile The kids, (after a very tearfull start) have got over all their worries and now think he's "the most beautiful dog in the world". He's already been offered overnight lodgings whenever he wants them and been beautifully behaved on two long walks, including ignoring sheep, dogs, ducks, but not the rabbits who were lucky he was on the lead.
Lovely manners, clearly trained at some point in the past, he's made the garden his own already, and is currently fast asleep after his tea.
What a day. A super start. Let's hope he keeps it up when we go to bed...

Sharonr - Admin

Ummmm can almost hear him saying "something smells good on the Aga"! Thanks for the update ... keep them coming  Very Happy

After a bit of a disturbed night (he didn't want to be in the kitchen!) another great day. Two good walks, beautiful behaviour, even in the face of huge provocation from two large dogs, simultaneously, off the lead, with no attempt by their owners to bring them to heal despite Raj's obvious discomfort. However, he held the moral high ground. SUPERB!
Then he decided to take a branch home that was still growing, photo attached, and now he's flaked out.
Feels like he's been here forever...

First day out in the van for Raj. Good as gold. We had to have a discussion about who the driver's seat belonged to but apart from that he kept an eye on "the office", didn't chew anything, and was generally brilliant. It was great to have him along, and I think he enjoyed his day. He's proving to be a great companion, and when I dropped his lead this morning, rather than making a break for it, he sat down and waited for me to sort myself out. Who's keeping an eye on who...?
xxlynne

wonderful news...
JandM

Nearly a month on...

Raj has been with us for the best part of a month now and he's been busy...
He has:
Been out and about with me in the van most days. He's as good as gold, (apart from when he ate my tea mug lid) and everybody we meet thinks he's great.
Been to college. An instant hit at break times!
Been to kennels for two nights while we attended a wedding. Had a lovely time and had clearly made a lot of friends.
Taken over my chair at night. It wasn't our original intention but we don't hear a squeak from him as a result.
Worked out how to open the kitchen door which opens towards him! He will not be contained!!!
Been to the beach, paddled, and still doesn't understand waves Smile
Had lots of long walks in the country. He's getting the hang of leaves and trees now.
Generally made himself at home. He's particularly partial to cuddles and racing around the garden like a complete loooonatic!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope the photos attached fill in the rest of the gaps...
