Polly ..the before pictures..
She is responding to human love. Here with Moya (Bertie's foster mum)
Had trouble getting Polly into the car and from the car when she went to the vets today for spay. Glued to the ground with fear. Walked well when collected which was a shock just a little lighthearted encouragement but then refused to get in the car. Sad. She needs to live with an older experienced and confident dog.

Walked Polly and Daisy together today. At first she was scared in her kennel but still encouraging - she wants to be friends, is just wary. Out on the walk she relied on Daisy at first but once they got going she was sometimes taking the lead. She loves affection and is interested in her walk despite being a bit worried. Just a short walk today because both girls decided a sit down was a good idea! They have had little experience of life outside their home but are keen to find out about the world.
If circumstances were different I would be tempted to at least foster these gorgeous girls.

PollyHello
I am Pollys new mummy
We have been home a couple of hours now
She travelled so well in the car, I expected her to cry the whole way home but not a peep
She introduced herself to the cats and I think she knows where she stands!!
Her and Clara seem to have found a pecking order, well until Polly finished her pig ear and tried to make off with Claras!
Just been for a lovely calm walk around the roads with my daughter on her scooter. Thought that she may shy of that but just kept trotting on by
I think that she is going to make a welcome addition to our family
Pics soon xx

She is currently fast asleep by hubbies feet
Won't go in a bed though but seems happy enough whilst naughty clara is asleep on the sofa!!
Going to sign her up tomorrow for adult dog classes, I think that she would benefit from ongoing classes to bring on both her and my confidence
If I get the class I want they start next week
She has discovered some toys and although not quite sure what to do with them is happy to wander around with them, maybe she may like some gundog training in time
Many many thanks to all at RR, esp dee for listening to me waffling on!!
She does not seem to like the camera so once she has relaxed will post some nice pics

hi all
Just wanted to give you a little update
Polly has settled in really well, a little strong on the lead but a friend with a vizsla suggested the halti headcollar
Worked brill today and she did not protest one bit
Was abit worried about her socialisation with other dogs so yesterday went to a friends and introduced polly to claras b friend ted
They had a ball, never seen so much leaping and running around. She was literally smiling
We have also now realised that all of claras little qualities!!! are actually bad behaviour!, constant barking at foxes, pulling on the lead to go to the park but polly dog is realising they are not always good things to do and looks at us in almost a way of saying "it wasnt me mum it wasnt me"
She has really come on with the constant positive praise
Spoke to helen at ABC dogs ( Thank you so much dee for putting me in touch with her) she is going to come and assess her in about 2 weeks and hopefully then we can start with some gentle classes
Just over a week ago I am sorry to admit I was ready to give her back. Too big too strong and despite my house now smelling of big dog! smells abit like v strong rich tea biscuits!! we would not be without her. SHe is actually so much better behaved then our naughty terrier. Even in a week her recall is better but I do feel as we priase her so much clara is starting to cotton on to the fact if we are good we get lots of cuddles and sometimes if we are really really good sausage
She is finding her way with our 3 cats and realises she is def the bottom of the pecking order. 12 yrs ago we rescued a cat from our stay in dubai, I think she hates us even more now
I left them alone for the first time today, only an hr and the house was still standing when we got back and no hate mail on the door from neighbours complaining of the howling!
Sorry for waffling but I know you are all doggy people
she did well at the vets yesterday and he is convinced although she has the colouring of a lab there is little lab in her!
She is a beautiful girl
thx for listening xx

any tips on housetraining pls
We thought that she was doing really well and dry throughout the night when she is in the conservatory but as soon as she is allowed into the main kitchen area even if I have put her in the garden she comes in and pees in the same spot
I have bleached whole area on more than one occasion and only caught her actually doing it twice but am daily finding a river of pee
Getting through alot of kitchen towel
Any advice pls x

Hi,
Generally you should use a biological washing powder or special spray. Bleach and other cleaning products actually contain ammonia and smell similar to wee.
Might help possibly.

White vinegar is very good at neutralising human urine, I have used it for dog's wee aswell.

UpdateThought hubby and I would take dogs for an evening walk
Been working on pollys recall but over at the park only planned on letting clara off lead
Bumped into another couple who 2 yrs ago rescued a v v emotionally damaged dog, its taken up to now for them to be able to stroke her without getting bitten!
I met her about a yr ago, she was scared aggressive and you would not dream of going up to her but last few months she has seemed such a diff dog, coat shiney, smiling
anyway...
it was just us and them and their dog wanted to play with clara so off they went, they said let polly off she wants to play so after thinking it over checking various exits were not in sight off she came
Oh my, they had a ball. 8 out of 10 times in recall she came straight back, the other 2 took her a while to think about it but there were 2 other dogs and some joggers to look at but she did come back
I would not do it at the moment unless it is quiet over there but she was so so happy
What a transformation to the dog we picked up 2 weeks ago
They are going to sleep well tonight, I just wish that I had my camera on me

Tiggerlittle update
Well gone is the timid, tail between her legs giant of 2 weeks ago
we now have a puppy in a full size dog. Very similar to tigger! she likes to bounce
Spent the morning trying to see if she can be boss rather than clara, without much luck! Claras head is currently in her mouth!. I have 2 of everything, but as soon as I give something to polly clara hides hers and steals polly. She lets her do it!
Just got to try and curb the over enthusiasm though, she is big and v heavy, 30kgs
Poor little thing twisted her knee and is now on anti inflams. Vet said have to ease her in gently to runs! There is no inbetween, its either on or off lead
Hubby and I tried to have her on a long line and both ended up with quite bad friction burns! what to do! also now her confidence is growing so is her need for getting out
I am currently doing a 2 mile walk 3 times a day. As she is traffic shy I am doing the same walk. Its getting dull!
Will post some pics soon

Hello
Polly is doing really well, still a little bit over excited whenever she sees any of us. Acts as though she has not seen you in weeks!
She behaves so much better than our JRT.
Is great off lead apart from when she gets the smell of a squirrel so she now wears a bell on her collar when we wood walk
She is great with other dogs, bit more attached to me than hubby as still seems v v warey if men
Friends came over last weekend, it took her 2 days before she would go near him but we got there in the end
she is fantastic with children, much ,uch better with our cats
Her and clara now decide they want to share a crate at night but she is scared of the dark so now we have to have a nightlight on!
not car sick anymore
She is very stinky, moults like crazy and the messiest eater I have ever seen but we love her and now could not imagine our house without her

Does this mean that you're going to have to buy either a bigger sofa or another sofa just for canine use??
