Was reading about this the other day and was disgusted that the rspca are using them, captive bolt guns do not kill but stun this is the wiki definition :
A captive bolt pistol (also variously known as a cattle gun, stunbolt gun, bolt gun, or stunner) is a device used for stunning animals prior to slaughter. Proper stunning is essential to prevent the pain and suffering of the animal during the bleeding (exsanguination) process (which is itself necessary to prevent meat spoilage) during butchering. The principle behind captive bolt stunning is a forceful strike on the forehead using a bolt to induce unconsciousness. The bolt may or may not destroy part of the brain. Expect they don't want to pay for injections anymore !! and here i was thinking they were anti-cruelty. This is a long slow way for an animal to die and totally unforgivable of them. |
