Min (Mindy) Boxer x 5 yrs Young Woking Surrey
| Quote: | ‘Mindy’ Boxer X Female 5 years. Mindy is lovely.
She gets on with males and females, have walked her with a lot of dogs.
Very affectionate and nice on the lead. She just gets very excited and giddy, so does like to bound around the corridor.
But she doesn’t get walked every day at the pound and she has been there since JANUARY!! Poor girl
When she meets new dogs she is just giddy and wants to play with them, the other dogs just look at her until she stops.
After a few minuntes she is calm and walks nicely. A really lovely girl. |
Mindy came in as an emergency yesterday. Emma is just assessing her now. She is being spayed tomorrow.

There is obviously Boxer in this girl.
So far she has been a very sweet and attentive girl.
Her play is a bit rough with other dogs, but not in a nasty way. She is just young and clumsy. She seems to prefer women to men, loves her food, but takes treats gently.
She walked well with Derek today and has shown alot of play bows towards other dogs through the kennel wire.
We know that she is good with children, although can be a bit protective of her charges so new people need to be introduced properly.

How lovely to meet Mindy today. I grew up with a Boxer and this is the closest I've got to rescuing one. She is placid and good natured. Quite aloof in the situation she finds herself in. When you meet her a second time and she recognises you and you get the tail wag ... it goes a long way!
Mindy was spayed today, so not the best of days for her, but if she knew how that brings her into safety, she would be more celebratory about it! Very wobbly..and she found her way into Bella's kennel. And I remember a week earlier I was bringing Bella back in the same circumstances, bless. Sweet Dreams Mindy.

Met the lovely Mindy today and she really has a lovely temperament. Quite a big girl who had fun playing with Zack - 2 lovely clumsy youngsters enjoying themselves on the grass. Lots of pictures to follow from today's photo shoot later I hope.

Mindy was absolutely adorable today. A beautiful soft coat and nature to match. She met up with Zack and they hit it off big time. I feel strongly that this could be the next RR romance in the kennel block! They teased and gently played with each other and were very comfortable in each others company. So glad they had a fun walk.
The face that pulls a thousand heart strings ... isn't she lovely!

Mindy had a trip out with Zac again today. We were joined by Tigerlily and Taz too. The four of them walked along really well together. Think Mindy would love to charge about the paddock with Zac.
She was excited when I went to get her from her kennel but very easy to get the harness on - which is often the most difficult part of the walk!

MindyI took Mindy out first this morning, blimey it was hot!!
Mindy was great in the kennel, got the harness on easily, we loaded up with water bottles and set off.
She didn't pull at all on the walk, she loved diving into the bushes at the roadside and sniffing around, however, just past the chicken farm she decided she'd had enough, so we stopped in the shade of the trees and watered her, I then a big fuss of her which she seemed to enjoy, and back home...
Only a short walk for the girl today in the heat, but a lovely one all the same.

The more I look at this girl, the more she looks like a small hybrid AB - are you sure she's a boxer x ?

Took Mindy out with Arnold last Saturday and they were fine together - mainly ignored each other. Mindy was curious about everything - investigating the verges at the sides of the roads, under the fences, the chicken field....

Mindy had a brisk walk today ..what wonderful weather. We then visited the cattery. She noticed a head popping out of a carrier and we had a bark. Hang on a minute Mindy look to your left.....foot tapping... Well eventually she did and saw the cat, she made a play bow and snapped forwards but not to touch 3 barks and she walked away. A typical playful reaction from Mindy..no harm intended.

Well Mindy was on bouncy form today - the storms I think. So pleased to be out that she decided to rag the lead but soon settled down to investigating the undergrowth and had a good walk. She wanted to go further but decided caution in this weather. Pleased to get a chance to take her out again. She has such enthusiasm. Lovely Mindy - let's hope she finds a playmate human or dog soon.

Mindy jumped in the front of my car today. (She wouldn't go in the crate on the back seat) Smiled and said lets go! We arrived at the Gatwick Kennels and had a lovely walk in the woods and common. Oh how the staff greeted her with such affection. She liked her 'pad' and was busy tuning her TV in when I left!

Well met one of my favourite girls again today ... Mindy! Am absolutely smitten with her. We had a great walk together with Cathy & Simone and they got on well. Mindy rounded off her walk with a cooling roll in the grass which Cathy found very endearing as you can see from her face (sorry Cathy, but had to include the photo)! So Mindy has another fan and I've fallen deeper ... hope these photos will get spotted by someone looking for a special dog as she is truly that ...

Mindy met a great family today. King Alfred the brindle and white Boxer lorded it over Mindy which she was very happy about. He asked her if she want to come back to his pad...she smiled a huge staffie smile and he said he'd send a car for her in a couple of days when he'd got the folks to fix the fence

"Hello thanks for your email. She is still doing really well bless her! She has really calmed down and is beginning to know the family routines. She had a couple of "toilet" accidents on the first couple of days but has been fine since then, now that she knows what is expected. Everyone was right she does love cuddles but has had to be dissuaded against getting onto sofas and beds!! A real opportunist! She loves going out into our field - although we are still keeping her on an extending lead until we are really sure (we are working on recall! - Good when she is focussed but not so good when excited in big open spaces! but fair enough considering she has been in kennels!) - Although she has mastered sit, stay and lay down - not bad for just a week!! She has a few guarding issues now that she seems to have established this as her home and is scared of some unusual items - but as we are not sure what she encountered in the past this is to be expected and is nothing that causes big problems just something to be aware of." Julie
(Alfred has a back leg problem which is just being investigated so we have to see how things pan out in the next week or so hence hesitation on adoption xxlynne)

Hi Lynne
Thought you might like to see this lovely picture of "Alf and Min" - they really are loving each other's company.
The news about Alf is slightly better than we expected and the problem is more in his knees than his back. The vet has recommended managing his condition with drugs rather than surgery as he is coping with it so far. The problem now is telling Alf that he has to take it easy for the next couple of weeks while his tablets etc take effect - especially with his new playmate around!
So with all this in mind we are now happy with Min being a permanent part of our family! She has settled in so well and there is no way we could contemplate her not being here. She passed the final test of being left at home for about twenty minutes a few days ago - she just took herself off to her bed and had a snooze. To say she was overjoyed when we returned would be an understatement!
We are happy for you to bank our cheque and send us any relevant paperwork - hopefully her vacination card etc! She is now a Melham and is sporting a disc with our name and phone number! (I will return Dee's tag to the address on it)
Many thanks for finding us Min - she now has a home!

Will be talking with Mindy's family but it seems Mindy needs to come back as she needs help to establish trust with strangers in her territory.
