Mia (pronounced MY)Mia 'Mum' Many may know we went to Goa to visit Lorenzo's family but especially his mother (88 yrs old) known to all her children as Mia. She became very ill a week ago and nearly died but somehow she hung in there and we were sure she wanted her eldest son with her. He booked his emergency passage from London and arrived 24 hours later thinking he was there to attend her funeral..but no she was still alive though now in Intensive Care in hospital. We all spent the week doing shifts at the hospital caring for her and she seemed to have stabilized..as we flew out of Goa to return home we thought she was being discharged to be cared for in her home. We heard she had a bad night and her discharge was delayed. She hung on in there for another 24 hours and died peacefully with her son and daughter present. The message we took was "I called you over to spend my last two weeks with you both but now go back to your work..others can attend my funeral..
She was a very spiritual lady who did such good works with the poor in her village. She was a catholic lady rooted in her faith and so positive in her thoughts that you felt she lived to 'bless' people. Fortunately Lorenzo her son has many of her qualities so although enriched by knowing her..I have to pleasure of feeling her shine through her son
