Jessie Staffie Jan 08 Gatwick (S) WSussex Kennelled

Her Story: Jessie was found stray in Lancaster. She was micro-chipped so her owners were contacted and stated that she had been passed on to someone who they didn't have a record of and they didn't want her anymore.  We were told she was good with children and dogs.

Salient points: Medium rather than heavy built Staffie (picture suggests otherwise).  Kind, lively nature, conducive for an 18 month dog. Mixes well with dogs outside but hasn't lived with another dog before. Not for cats or small furries.

Advert: Jessie is beautiful with her big white bib and soft orange brindle coat. She is novice and needs initial work but will pay you baack in heaps in the furutre.  Affectionate with people, loving with children, delighted to be out on her walks and meets dogs nicely. She was fostered for 24 hours she succeeded in all areas, but small furries no! and was stressed with another dog in her territory. But delightful company and brilliant with the young children.  She is a busy Miss and pleased to follow you about the house and get stuck into any action or non-action on offer! She gets excited around small furries, cats and even pond fish! For this reason we are looking for an only pet status for her.   Her history is quite vague so would look to home her with children 5 yrs and above with close supervision over visiting very young children just because she has an excitable nature. She is spayed and being fully vax'd currently.

Jessie is ready for her family. She is a heart winner and we know her forever family will delight in her, rejoicing in her youth and 'cheeky' nature! More pictures will follow, but take it from us she is a beauty with a fresh smile and generous licks given on each encounter.

Please visit Jessie's individual thread, in Dogs needing homes in our care on our forum to find out more about her and follow her progress.

If you are interested in re-homing please complete our homing questionnaire so we can ensure our dogs are matched and will suit your circumstances/lifestyle.

"Please note that this dog is currently in kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found".

Jessie's thread below:

Quote:
Staffie, female, approximately 18 months old. She is brindle in colour with white markings and she is small to medium in size. Jess is a lovely happy, wriggly, cuddly, friendly and bouncy girl who is absolutely gorgeous too! Jess was recently rehomed, her previous owners have confirmed she has lived with cats and children. Jess is also good with other dogs and she is housetrained and travels well.

We have homechecked for Jess and her family are waiting to receive her as soon as she can come.

Jess is spayed on 29th July Wednesday and transport is being arranged from the vets the next day with  Jess going directly into her Trial Adoptive family. They are smitten and oh so eager!
xxlynne

Jess went into trial adoption but she was a bit over awed by sharing her den with another dog be it visiting status, rabbit and Hamster..bless.  Her energy was too excited so she has come into kennels and we are looking for a less challenging home circumstance for her.

Jess prefers Jessie. She gets very over-excited when you call her Jessie in a squeaky voice and goes positively silly when you add a 'ca' at the end.  Laughing

She is a very lively and happy girl and she glows when you crouch down and call her name, the only problem being that you need to steady yourself as she is so over exhuberant with her Staffie love when she gets to you!

She has positive reaction to dogs around her and although she doesn't want to share her family, she should exercise around other dogs well.

Jessie

I met Jessie for the 1st time today, what a little sweetie, she's so tiny!
Very well behaved in the kennel, a little unsure of me at first, she let me put the halti on her, but it was far too big, I had to use a harness adjusted down to the smallest size.
On the walk she was excellent, very inquisitive but calm, trots along happliy, it was reminisant of walking my friends JRT some time ago, only with longer legs Laughing
She's very affectionate, a lovely little girl.

Walked little Jessie today and she has found her feet now! Will definitley try a halti on her because for a little one she can pull for England. Maybe it was because we were walking with Winnie that she was overexcited. Jessie needs to mix with confident dogs as she worried Winnie a little with her barking. Not that she barked a lot, just in excitement I think. They did meet nose to nose at the cafe and just had a good sniff. Lots more socialisation for this little one and I'm sure she will settle nicely.

A few quick pics of Jessie

She wanted to go and have nose to nose conversations with all the dogs in the kennels.   She is good with dogs no doubt about it!

Took Jessie out today again, brought a squeaky tennis ball with me and she loved it Very Happy

Had a lovely walk with Jessie today and a big stick Very Happy  She found it and when it was small enough she carried all the way out and back. Very determined she was too - kept dropping it but hardly broke her stride to pick it up. When we got back to the kennel we had to wait to get back in and she dropped it for a while - then she got bored waiting , picked up her stick and said let's go!  She was very patient waiting though.  Didn't pull too much at all this time.

Walked Jessie with a family together with Tiger Lily. Jessie focused on going to meet Tiger Lily with Tiger Lily not really too keen with her enthusiatic advances. Jessie settled once Tiger Lily was no longer the walking companion but demonstrated her exuberant kennel energy throughout the walk. The Jessie I met today was different to descriptions to date..so perhaps she just was "so ready" for the walk but would be interested in other walkers views. We didn't use a halti as I like to get a true feel of a dogs connectiveness with their leader. She was on a harness and 'pushing' on the walk all the way. Jessie needs nice long walks ideally with the time to settle in with meeting other dogs.
ali12345

Maybe she just needs to be carrying something.

Tried that  Wink  she takes easily and discards 2 secs later.

A couple more of Jessie Very Happy

Walked Jessie through the woods at Gatwick today and let her 'enjoy'. She was having such a wonderful time lifting branches and breaking them off into manageable pieces but didn't actually then carry any for any distance.

I felt as though I had let her loose into a gym session..if only I'd bought a cup of Latte to enjoy whilst she 'worked out'
ali12345

Walked Jessie with Keith and Lynne today. She was a bit frantic at first but once she had her harness sorted she settled down into her normal steady pull Very Happy She was charmed by Keith's lovely calm demeanour and after a while was walking happily alongside him. It was lovely to see her relaxed with another dog.

Oh Jessie..Jessie got herself wound up today"...kennels damn kennels" she said...let me out of here! She was a raging bull and I the matadore . I simply had to let her take her wound-up energy out on the branches in the wood.

Then she relaxed..

Oh Jessie so needs an active family and back into life please! She is such a beautiful girl who seems to be getting more and more pent up in kennels.
NOTE TO SELF go over to Gatwick at least 3 times next week especially for our Jessie!

Jessie repeated her "lets get all this frustration out my system" routine today. Who can blame her. Gave her about an hours walk which she was bursting at the seams in need of. Not sure if the rampaging the woods and breaking off branches is serving the purpose of her focusing her pent up energy constructively or destructively. All depends if given better circumstance she can move on in her focus and attention. She certainly soon does this once out of the woods. Hoping with more vol. dog walkers attending the Gatwick kennels, Jessie can get more time out from the kennel environment which she really needs!!! Placed her on a loopie harness and short lead in case she bit through the lead but she had settled by this time and showed no lead aggro
xxlynne

Jessie and I had a fast walk today... Jessie's pace! She was on a short chain lead to avoid her catching it with her teeth I lost 2 extenders last walk! We avoided the wood until at the end of the walk when her energy was more tame. I had taken secateurs with me to cut back bramble and she decided no she wasn't going to grab them or the brambles.  This acted as a decoy so she was learning to leave..and discriminate. I had feared she would be indiscriminate and grab like branches. I was wrong..curious but then 'I leave that one to you!'

Jessie isn't doing well her energy is very high. She carries her plastic bed around with her in the kennel..the staff have video'd it being moved and lifted. She apparently can't go out into the paddock as she avoids the staff coming back in. Oh Jessie you do need a fosterer to help you express your frustrated energy and come back down to earth. Ended my visit with lovely head strokes and kisses and be back soones...
ali12345

Jessie  was initially quite calm which was a lovely surprise but once into the woods she was determined to get those branches.  Once we escaped the wooded area she was  a different girl. Trotted along nicely, not bothered by the roar of the traffic on the motorway nearby.  On returning at the end she was a bit focussed again on the branches but better. She needs some nice long walks away from the woods.  Very Happy

Jessie came out the kennel today very fired up..10 mins later she began to settle and 10 mins later she was enjoying her walk and affection.

ali12345

Jessie is such a funny one  Very Happy  Firstly through the woods she was hard work but once out on the street she is an angel - a pleasure to walk. We had a good long walk and sat on a bench to eat lunch. She sat nicely while we ate and had a few bits calmly. When I finished she jumped on the bench half on my lap and watched my daughter eat her crisps.  Had a nice cuddle. She really enjoyed her time out and you can just imagine her settling into a life with someone. I think she was pleased to be out twice this week and she does so need it.

Jessie was just hyper today! She flew out the kennels as though ready to burst..she loves to get branches and break them off into 18 " pieces even when they are still attached..especially when they are still attached! As a past time she uses up lots of excess energy and had one game leaping up to catch hanging branches..and I mean leaping. She settled into the walk and at least one feels of all the dogs Jessie make full use of her window of opportunity!
xxlynne

Jessie was just having her kennel cleaned when I appeared today and whisked her off her feet. Short leads on and off we went..she started her antics of playing with the lead and then an attempt to visit a unsuspecting branch but she soon recognised that this walk was different..it had focus it had purpose. There she was leaping into the passenger seat of my car and oh whow this is different. Off we drove and 10 mins later we stopped and out I got leaving her with a seat well filled with an open box of 'staffie collars' mainly leather. I appeared back 10 mins later to check on her; she was sitting as peaceful as a church mouse!  Off I went and 15 mins later the same only this time she was lying. No she hadn't decided to chew anything; hadn't decided to try and go through the grate to the back. A very short walk and bless she was introduced to her new kennel and left.  Over the course of the afternoon I checked on her she was calm.

We have moved Jessie as we think she was getting worked up by a deaf dog in the other kennels who was very exciteable and had a high pitched cry. Lets see if her new kennels suit her by being free of this and also walks being freer away from 'woods'
ali12345

You are back with your old Croydon gang Jessie so among some familiar smells Laughing
ali12345

Jessie is doing well Very Happy  Much easier to walk her in the new environment - less woodland.  Still she was keen on branches on the walk but settled quicker and as usual as soon as we got into town area she was fine. I took her for a walk round the local park and here she didn't even glance at  branches on the ground or shrubs nearby.  On the way home through the more wooded part she was more playful with branches than wild.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much easier it was to walk her today  Very Happy
At the park she snuggled up with me on the bench and we just cuddled for a while. She is such an adorable little thing really.

Out in the paddock and she was off!  Whey hay!!!

It took 25 mins for her to slow down and then we had a lovely walk along the field. Lovely cuddle and 'love in' ..oh what a wonderful time Jessie had today!
