Jack Jack Russell DOB Nov 08 Oxon
Jack is a young small Parson's Jack Russell with a docked tail which is unusual for this day and age. He was homed in with children but failed his home as nipped a child whilst playing ball a month ago. Fostered with a cat, another dogs plus children no problem. He walks lively on a lead with a harness. Fine with dogs but wary of people initially. Needs to build trust.
Jack is nervous in kennels, wary of human nature generally, since a lot of changes and new situations. Makes good friends but doesn't like people he doesn't know to make too fast or familiar moves. A little on edge and needs a confident terrier person who isn't too intrusive and will let him 'be' and find his own way. Loves his walks and will become loving with people he has grown close to but too fast and he may snap towards you almost shielding himself. Neutered and chipped. Vax under way once recovered from neutering. We are looking for a sensitive family that can give him space and assurance, letting him set the pace but at the same time clear he isn't in control but can fall in with the fun on offer. In rescue in Mansfield Notts.

Hi,
I picked Jack up from his previous owners and due to circumstances beyond my control I had to find him a rescue place fast.
Any terrier savvy home will love this boy to pieces !!!
I have more pics and all his background plus a valid vaccination card.
Claire.

I still have his original vaccination certificate here which lists his 1st vacc as 17/11/08 and he was probably around 6-8 weeks old when this was done. I can post on if new owners would like it for their records.

Just a report-back on Jack the Jack Russell - Jack the Lad!
He is exactly what we wanted, cheek and all! He is settling very well and doing me the world of good - getting me out in all weathers, except yesterday's torrential thunderstorm, for walks of at least an hour morning and afternoon. I have found that the 'countryside' that starts about a quarter of a mile away is a fairly recently deserted farm, with huge meadows which are completely safe for him to run in until he exhausts himself.
I have booked him in to a Puppy Obedience Training class which he will start in September, but he is already learning manners - sat and lifted a paw almost before prompting when he wanted his breakfast this morning. He responds well to his name and knows the meaning of 'No', even if he sometimes takes the attitude of a cousin's grandson who told grandpa, 'I can hear you, but I'm not listening!'
He has made no attempt to bite me, just mouthed my hand rather hard a couple of times, and nipped toes when he got excited, but 'Ow! Stop that!' sorts him out at once. There is no intentional malice.
Neither you nor Nottingham Jerry Green will be getting him back - ever!
Very best wishes

I am so pleased to hear that Jack has settled in so well.
This little lad lodged with me for a couple of hours as the transport run got into this area much earlier than the time the kennels opened. He was a delightful little chap.
His happy ending is very much due to the efforts of xxlynne / this lovely rescue who agreed to put his details up on their website in order to attract the right sort of understanding owner to him.
Thank you very much.

Dear Lynn
Thank you for this enquiry about Jack. He is a lovable, little rascal: at times butter wouldn't melt and he does just as he's told, and then he decides that what he wants to do is MUCH more important, and he'll 'just finish this first!'
I tried to get him into a puppy class as soon as I got him home, but they were all full in this area. He is now enrolled in a pre-bronze class for adult dogs which is giving him a weekly dose of other dogs. Sadly, the dogs in my immediate area belong to very uptight people who pull their mutts in very close if they see us approaching. The dogs growl - Jack barks and no-one is happy...
One of the major reasons for getting him was to ensure that I had to go for regular walks, as I am retiring in a fortnight. He is doing that job superbly! Fortunately, there is a derelict farm within walking distance. Developers are going to build on it sometime, but in the meantime we make the most of the fields and rabbits. He made great friends, just yesterday, with the two dogs - a setter and a husky - belonging to the senior developer. The husky and he chased each other around for almost 30 mins. He slept very well last night!
I attach a few of photos of him:
Leopard is his favourite toy.
I just like the cheeky one of him on the stairs.
I was delighted to find that he could get through the cat-flap in the kitchen!
I don't take the camera out to the farm, so the one by the Oxford Canal is one of the few taken outside the house.
Many thanks for putting us together! And all the best to yourselves and all your other dogs.
Best wishes to you and Dee
Noel
