Information table in a large pet store...

Hi,
i used to work in Pets At Home (formerly Petsmart) for a couple of years and wondered , ( as long as i can sweet talk my old manager still, which shouldnt be a problem, lol) if a way to gain recognition and funds and hopefully forever homes for the dogs, would to be to have a display table in the store on a weekend and bring a couple of the dogs and posters and stuff. they have hosted RSPCA and bluecross before so i was just wondering if this would be something you would be interested in. the store is the Crawley store 10 mins from Gatwick Airport, i know this is a long way for you, but i thought i would offer as they have a high turnover of customers as its on the way through from the airport and on the industrial estate...
let me know what you think...

Very Happy Hi Nicci, what a fab idea.  When I start driving again I will be up for that.  I could bring Peanut she would love it,  Sorry it's taken a while to reply

Fantastic idea Nicci.  I see they also have branches at Brentford, Raynes Park & Feltham close to the RR team.   How good are your chatting up skills?  Could you get your manager to get permission from one of those stores too?  No pressure, but when a good idea comes up ...  Very Happy

Yeah, i will do my best!!! still know a few people so will speak to them soon. i will let you know how it goes. Dogs are allowed in store all the time and not just assistance dogs so it will be easy to melt a few hearts!!! lol.

Will let you know how it all goes. - could i be cheeky and get people who would like to do the table give me an idea of when we would like to do this so i can give them a rough idea, but once i get permission i will get a contact name and pass it on to you so you can organise dates, times etc?...

The New Malden pets at home often has Stan Rawlinson (dog whisperer) in fairly regularly to do little talks / presentations etc...

They advertise when he is coming in next and have his cards on each till counter.

Would be great to get the stores enthusiastic about RR / TR so they might support in a similar way.

Would be even better if RR had their table there on the same day?!!!  Guess it's very busy when he is there?
nicciandandy

Hi, PetsatHome may not let two different tables be there on the same day, but in the much larger stores it may not be a problem.
Also they advertise upcoming events on their website so more people should know when we will be down.

I'm off that day, so can give you a hand. assuming it's Ok with Lynne/Dee I'll bring a selection of the kennels dogs down. You need to think about what flyers and other paperwork you need to display. Also, are Pets at Home willing for us to do a tombola or sell bric-a-brac (obviously stuff they themselves don't sell).
do they have tables we can borrow, or do we need to bring one?
nicciandandy

will need to bring table down, and a tombola should be fine, may even be able to wrangle some free merchandise too!!! hehe. will print out some posters etc anything else i need to think of/organise?
nicciandandy

Hi,
am putting together some things for the info table and was wondering if it would be ok to print out homing questionnaires  for people to fill out and send to the relevant persons, and also print up some blurbs of the top dogs.  but would like some idea which dogs are 'ready' (in the sense of rehabilitated enough for rehoming) suggestions anyone? will also be having a section for bric a brac sales and a sweetie lucky dip to raise funds. kennel fund or allocated by nominated people to where needed.

Hi Nic

Is there any chance you could speak with your "friend" and get us into the Romford, Essex store before Christmas?  Tina D & I would like to do that one if we can get in there.  Appreciate any help you can give us.

Your date is coming up at Crawley - are you all set?  We took all sorts of paperwork to Chelsea, but only really used the latest dog sheet with dogs up for rehoming and the RR poster with contact details.  You will also need collection tins - I can send you a label template for them if you need it?

Thanks
Sharon
nicciandandy

yeah, that would be lovely. any help with logos/paperwork would be appreciated. will speak to stuart as i dont know the romford store, any date you have in mind? or just anything before xmas?... thanks x

Hi Nic

I have the left over things from Chelsea in my boiler room. I know I can't get to you beforehand but if you think of anything that could be posted, let me know. Jane's Mum's cards are fab. Perhaps I should send you some of the Christmas ones? What do you think? If you would like me to do that, send me a pm so I can get your address and I will do. Hope it all goes well.
nicciandandy

Hi, yeah that sounds fab. thank you. i will have to ask about the xmas cards asthey sell some in store andthey could be funny about it but will phone to check anyway.
we will only be in store for a few hours, from 10 till 4 probably as after the traffic of customers is fairly low and the dogs will have had a very long day and deserve to get home to have a rest.

well, thought I'd bring you up to speed on this. Having been told we could do this, the day before we were told that permission had been withdrawn by head office, as RR is not a registered charity.
Nic and I have discussed this, and we are now busy collecting stuff to do a car boot sale early in the New Year. We have raided the various penny jars and a small contribution will be winging it's way towards you shortly.
Lynne/Dee, do you want some help in looking into charitable status?

Jane is dealing with this but might need your help..
Sharonr - Admin

Got the same response from Romford - it's holding us back financially.

I also get matched funding from my firm up to £2,000 for anything I raise for a registered charity - another incentive to get registered.  Very Happy
