House Clearance what do we want??

My friend is getting a company in to clear out his dads house, do we need anything? i have asked for the bedding and blankets...he is also giveing me 2 laptops..we dont know what kind of state they are in as they havent been used for a while, but i will ask our ITdepartment to take a look and see if they are useable as they are old but it may be of use...

Laughing If there is anything that we could use in our sales and tombolas, that would be very useful too  - things like good quality bric-a-brac, photo frames, vases, jugs, Christmas decorations etc. I know that is always slightly harder for the relatives as they are more personal.

You are a lovely lady Nicky, aren't you!!??

The laptops would be fab if we can get them working etc ( I know our forum guru is desparate for a laptop that she can use)

You know what sort of bric a brac we have, if there is anything that is better than that i would say grab it, but try and get the small stuff as we will probably have to store it until next year now!  Laughing  Laughing

I doubt he would have any dog or children's stuff (but you never know!!) but if there is anything we can put into those tombolas it would be handy.

Another long shot but if they have any Christmas decorations that we can take to kensington/the school fair that would be good.

Oh, and if he has a suitcase of money laying around, i am sure we can put it to use  Wink  Laughing

Yes, you have my attention ... did someone say laptop?!!!!  My hubby would worship the ground you walk on if I could work in the same room as him of an evening - it could save my marriage!

Re the other stuff, the only issue I can see is storage - depends how much we are talking about.  Obviously we are getting through stuff at a fast rate of knots so really need to restock, but is there anyone else that can store some of it?  I can take some in my loft, particularly if hubby is appeased by laptop usage.  Is there anyone else planning to do an RR event or happy to help with storage?
karen

Laughing I have appeased hubby with a break and our outbuildings are looking fairly empty......could store more here, if we can get it here Exclamation

(Still not plastered, though, even though they have been almost empty since May Rolling Eyes )

That's great Karen - will try and work it out  Very Happy

I have a pretty empty loft, if it could find its way to mine, then the space is yours.

Done!!! When can i bring it round??!!  Laughing  Laughing

Seriously though, that might be really handy when some of the fundraising things are over. We can only really do the outdoor fundraising events in the summer so, when Autumn comes we can pack stuff up and might need the extra storage then if you don't mind?

Some of the people who have given me stuff have promised more (especially toys) when they have their pre-Christmas clearout, so we may need it then also xx

Fantastic offer - thank you  Very Happy

Yeah no worries, is pretty empty up there, think there's a camping stove and some camping stuff, which if anyone can make use of, please do (will have to check its still there first tho) otherwise its empty.
As I say, if it can find its way here, then great, I'll stuff it up there til someone needs it again, will even offer tea and staffy snuggles to anyone delivering! haha

Not sure if this is of any use - but I have got a Toshiba Satellite laptop (ca. 2-3 years old) which I no longer need. However, it won’t come with a harddrive which means it won’t have any software such as Windows etc. Please let me know if interested.

Hi there - thanks for the thought Fred, much appreciated.

I'm not very technical on the hardware side, does anyone know what would have to be done/how much it would cost to get this working as a wireless laptop with Windows Mail, Word, Excel & internet connection please?  Perhaps Bud might be able to check with someone?

I asked hubby who built my computer and he said depending on the size of the hard drive could be anywhere between £50 -£100 for that -and another £70ish for the windows kit.
If you'd like him to source definite prices he will.

Thanks very much for the info - say thanks to hubby for me.  I only recently had a new PC so spending that amount on a laptop is not an option for me at the moment.  Plus if I was going to it would probably be better to wait, add the extra and buy a new one.  Thanks again for check.

Have put feelers out in various places and am hoping eventually a recon might be donated.  Fingers crossed.
