HelloHi everyone ! I'm angie.
Up until recently we had 3 dogs, sadly in October our lovely smooth haired border collie died. He was epileptic since he was two, had a full blow stroke when he was 7 (he recovered !!) but when he was just past his 9th birthday his liver and kidneys stopped working, and he died
The dogs we have now are Molly a rather large beagle (what can i do, she eats everything !!!) she's happy though, still gets around and she's an older lady at 11 years - and Pippa, a german shepherd/collie cross and she's around 9, both of these dogs were rescue dogs due to the fact that my husband (a police officer) had to move office, and they put him opposite the dog pound
We are hoping to adopt another older collie dog from furry friends - "sam" - we're just waiting for the home visit
We started thinking about adopting an older dog a few weeks ago, and started looking on the internet at the dog rescue centres - we had no idea there would be so many !!!! It's overwhelming, saddening, and depressing so it's good to come here to forums like this and read some good news

Hi Angie and welcome. We had an epileptic collie who only made it to 9 years because of the strain of the medication on his liver.
Hope Sam is tucked up with you soon.

I am always thrilled to see the dogs progress after adoption ... as they go on to such good homes. Nothing beats it!
