Rufus

Hello from the south coast

Hi, I am new to these forums and have been so moved by some of the dogs stories I thought I should join and tell my own too.

We have rehomed a cat and a dog.  Murphy is now a nine year old pussy cat and Harvey is a 4 year old poodle / staff cross ( so we were told ).

Harvey and his 2 sisters were found stray at about 8 weeks and were taken to the RSPCA Ark in Stubbington were we met him.  Instantly adorable we fell for him and after the strict home check arrangements were made for his arrival.

At first he had a cage in the dining room where he slept whilst we house trained him which didn't take long !  He loved it so much we often found him sleeping in it at all times !

After a few weeks the cage was gone and ever since he has his bed at the foot of ours. He is very social and loves to make friends with everyone and anyone ( although he keeps a wide berth from the cat who is less social ! ).  He has been so easy to train and is very loving and soft as anything.  His cuteness is off the scale and we couldn't be without him.

His best friends are the 2 lurchers next door and when we visit my parents he tries to teach their collie / spaniel x how to play properly. In fact I see similarities with Bruno and my parents dog ( guess it's the collie in them ).

We are now looking for a play mate for Harvey and want to give an other dog a second chance of a loving home.   Very Happy

I can never understand how people can treat dogs like accessories to abandon when they get bored or the dog acts like a dog and they are surprised.  There always seems to be a never ending stream of sad stories.  Sad

I was recently reading an article about the abuse that goes on in the greyhound racing industry and the sheer number of dogs involved.  There really should be some stronger laws to protect not just dogs but all animals in this country  Exclamation  Exclamation  Exclamation

Anyway rant over, will try and figure out how to post some pics of Harvey for you to see  Laughing

Hi Rufus,
welcome aboard. I'm sure we'll find lots of ways you can get involved. Pics are obligatory! Very Happy
