George GShepherd 2 yr old Ashtead SurreyGeorge is a two year old blue and gold GSD male who came into my kennels four months ago as a boarder. His owners adored him but overnight were told that there was a new rule of 'no dogs allowed'. They immediately packed up their belongings and put him into kennels and have been searching ever since for somewhere to live who would accept dogs. Sadly their search has been fruitless and they have found nowhere that would accept a GSD.
George is a rare colour for a GSD and because of this he has not been castrated so far, but this is due to be done this week now that he is in RR.
George has lived with children and loves them. He is very bouncy amongst other dogs, but I know that he will calm once he has had the snip.
He has not been tested with cats, but because of his bouncy nature would be best carefully introduced to them in case he sits on them!

George is such a lovely boy. Not confident at first when I was in the kennel but settled down on the way out. He doesn't seem to walk anywhere - he trots, so he always appears to be bouncing. He is another dog who it is hard to keep weight on in kennels. His fluffiness hides a skinny wee lad underneath but he is healthy and alert. Keeps looking back to make sure you are there.
I'm sure he will be snapped up quite quickly

George met Cass today.
It was incredible to witness their bond. I had no doubt on seeing how his reserve vanished and he became the adoring, devoted pet. Cass and George had no doubt Cass will adopt George on Friday- she is counting the minutes.

Fab news! I have known George since he was a 6 month old puppy so it is very important to me that he falls on his feet. I am so glad that he doesn't have to stay in kennels for any longer than he has to now. He has been with us for about 4 months whilst the previous owners were searching high and low for somewhere that would agree to take George, but they never found anywhere.

Sorry to hear that George's home has fallen through.
I have just read through this thread and thought that I should just clear a small detail up. George has always been a skinny fella. We were concerned about his figure and contacted the previous owner soon after he arrived a couple of months back. His previous owners tried from when he was a tiny puppy to put weight on him, but he always stayed slender. The vet confirmed that he just burned energy up quickly and that he had a high metabolism.
However, since being castrated he has put some weight on and is looking far better.
George is not stressed in kennels. He likes it at the kennels because he is active. In his previous home, although they loved him, he was very sheltered and introduced to few new things. When he first arrived he did not know how to greet another dog, was scared of washing flapping on the washing line and was even suspicious if we were carrying a dustpan and brush! Since being with us he has bonded very strongly and when the owners did turn up to take him to a potential new flat (which they were turned down for because he was a GSD) he took one look at the owner and legged it BACK into the kennels to find us. The owners had to chase him about the place and drag him out the door and when he arrived back at the kennels he pulled like a train to get in.
Obviously a home is better than a kennels, but George has a more interesting life than he had before, has a great appetite and enjoys interacting with people he knows. He is shy with new people because he was not socialised as he should have been when he was younger in the crucial months. He has been handled by many people at the kennels of all ages and this has given him a confidence boost with strangers. He bonds well with all ages. Now that he is getting extra walks by the dog walkers he will gain even more confidence as his main problem now is that he is a recluse. He knows the kennels and feels safe there.

George became available again because the potential owner couldn't find the 'working hours' support that she required and didn't want to compromise George in moving into his forever home.

GeorgeWhat an absolute stunner!
I met him for the 1st time today, in the kennel he was a bit unsure of me, but I managed to lure him out and he was fine after that. We changed his choke chain for a nice new soft collar and off we went, on the walk he was very interested in his surroundings but never went too far away from me.
Being used to walking staffies it makes a bit of a difference walking a larger dog, most of the time he was walking right next to me, I could have used a 6" lead!
I couldn't get him to drink very much and he doesn't seem to have much interest in treats either, maybe he was more interested in his surroundings. At the halfway point I made a big fuss of him and as Alison passed us she commented on how well he bonds with people. He will sit on command without bribery.
I'm sure this lad won't be in kennels for too long, he appears to have a lovely nature and good looks including his slightly floppy left ear.
Gorgeous George should be his full name

George is coming into our kennels after the weekend. His owner has a serious lung condition which isn't helped by George's fur according to the consultant.

George has settled really well Hi, we just wanted to say a huge thankyou for the most beautiful dog ever, George really has settled into his new home really well. The lovely couple we collected him from on Sunday had done a fantastic job with him and he was clearly very loved and extremely well cared for.
He is getting on famously with our other GSD (Angel) and they are really good friends.
We will post some pics of George in his new home and out in the fields tomorrow. Thanks to everyone once again.

Just to let everyone know, George is still doing fantastic. He went for some impromptu swimming yesterday in some of our local lakes whilst we were out walkiing. I will post the pics on here shortly. We couldn't get him out of the lakes he loved swimming...It didn't end there, when we returned home George had a shower and simply loved all the pampering afterwards, shampoo, hairdryer. Surprise, surprise he would have gladly let us pamper him all day.
