Ethics and other considerations on Postering for lost animal

I want to find a Dog, and I can see that Postering would be a very effective tool. I have done a small amount but I don't feel comfortable so won't be doing any more.

Few could object to the odd poster, but some of the sites I went to already had a few unofficial posters up so that the effect was getting untidy. I can imagine people objecting to over use of posters. I felt uneasy putting posters up in some locations. Do you think there are unacceptable locations?

I guess there should be some consideration of clearing up your own postering. So I intend to go round and tidy up the sites I posted at, including removal of fixings. What do you think is an acceptable period to have a poster up at an unofficial location? I'll probably take them down after just 7 days.

But the reason I'm really uneasy, and stopping posting, is that I'm not the 'owner' and don't want to meet the owner who obviously can detach from animal suffering at least. I'm uneasy publishing my contact details to an unknown audience. I guess this is a special case, but I can imagine there may be other less obvious, negative consequences of posting.

(thanks for letting me explain; I now feel less guilty about not pursuing the use of this tool further)

I think so long as they aren't left to rot then people would not object - most pet owners will feel a pang when they see lost ads and will feel sympathetic.
Your situation is a little different from normal so do what ever feels right.
