Donny Collie 18 months

Donny was given Peace today.  We did not make this decision lightly and debated the situation from all sides especially as we all aknowledged him to have a beautiful nature and so obviously unsettled within rescue.  However this morning he badly bit his fosterer. He did this without warning; without hesitation; after inviting that person to enter into his space and then without remorse.  His bite was indiscrimnate and was not a miscontrude or misjudged nip.  It had not been provocated; and He in fact loved that person and was loved by the person.

Donny was truly forgiven and remains deeply loved.  His fosterers gave him the best and chose to fulfil friendship until the moment, so that he knew love and can now fly free, away from any ghosts he must have carried.

Donny's thread remains below

Donny was found stray and unclaimed before Christmas.  He has since been neutered and been taken from 4Paws rescue. They aren't easily able to home Collies in Wales (Coals to Newcastle!). Donny has been cat tested and is fine.  He is usually OK with dogs but better if both are off lead. He is fine on the lead but can feel a bit hemmed in. Welsh dogs seldom get lead walks. A lovely looking lad apparently in the 'fur'

Donny will come next Friday

He is stunning in the "fur". Very Happy Behaved impeccably in the car with the others (and it was very very noisy!!!). True "Welsh Collie" red and white and quite tall. Although obviously stressed by all the upheaval he behaved really well. I feel that if he is reactive it's only because he's worried, and this would be easily overcome with some positive socialising. I love him, and feel sure that he won't be there very long, and someone will be very very lucky. (Not that I'm smitten in any shape, manner or form!)

Hi

Any idea if he is ok with small children?

Thanks

No idea..newly in and no facility to assess in that way.

took Donny out for his walk today. He is very gentle, but seems a little worried by fast or unpredictable movements around him. If you stay calm and quiet he is ready to come forward for a fuss, and as I walked in and out of the kennel today he came trotting up every time to have a fuss, and was very good to handle. It's very early days, and I suspect he's just lost a bit of confidence having been moved so recently.. Bit of a sensitive soul, our Donny, I think
On his walk we got mobbed by a hysterical off lead collie, and he behaved very well, and he was definitely a lot more interested and perkier as the walk went on.
I thought originally he was probably a failed sheepdog thrown out, but he's too well cared for. someone loved him once , I think

Donny's Advert

Donny is a whow.  Just look at this wonderful Collie boy...but hear-yeah.. that glorious tail sways and displays his gentle charm.  Be sure he is wonderful in more (s)ways than just looks. He has a very steady yet gleeful demeanour; so happy to meet and greet both  people and dogs alike.

Donny is probably about 18 months old; found stray in Wales ..now newly neutered and chipped. This one wont go stray again! Donny is ready to meet his loving family who can offer him a focus and quest.  Donny has energy and personality but isn't hyper or demanding and will make a marvellous family pet. Another Rescue Remedies' dog that if we weren't adamantly staunch on anti breeding we would want to clone! Can you make Donny your own..

Donny has moved into foster with the view to homing with Sally and Ian today He had been not eating well in kennels and got sore paws.  Oh how wonderful...oh how wonderful

We picked Donny up today at 12. Such a sad little face, he hadn't eaten his breakfast and just wanted hugs from me and Alyson. We took a little walk and then headed back into the car. He was a gem for the whole journey. By the time we got back home he was ready for a long nap and slept solidly for three hours. He has now really perked up; he has had a great dinner, pottered around and is now enjoying Match of the Day with Ian!! A very bright dog, he has already picked up on the house rules (not that there are that many!). We're going to take it nice and slow with this sensitive soul.

To make this decision is never easy.  But it can never be wrong when it is made with love in your heart.

Donny now has peace.  Our thoughts are with you.
Katie

Oh gosh guys - I am so so sorry.  What a nightmare.  Wishing you well Ian and wishing you peace Donny.
Sally

Donny was an absolute sweetheart, so desperate for friendship and love, but not knowing how to ask for it or show it.
We loved him and I told him as he went to sleep.
I hope Henna is looking after him

Poor Donny, as Lynne says, at least his ghosts are laid to rest and he is free.  He was loved to the end and thank you for that Sally.

Having seen Donny over a period of time,  I suspect that he was suffering from an undiagnosed  neurological condition, which at the time I thought was probably mounting kennel stress. Sleep tight , Donny,
