Coco Ped. Lakeland Terrier 02.09 Lymington New ForestCoco comes into our care tomorrow. She is going to be spayed and then will go into kennels unless a foster place materialises. She hasn't coped living with young children.

When Coco arrived last night she was still very doopey and Scooby's inital greeting was too loud and enthusicastic She grumbled at him a little and it was enough to send him off with his tail behind his legs
However, after a little rest we all went out into the garden and all was well After that he was a little more gentile in his advances, giving her all his toys and treating her with a respect -
She ate well and fell asleep in her crate before we went to bed. We didn't hear a peep out of her all night.
This morning we sorted out the trainning line and 'attachment' so that she can go out into the garden and she and Scooby can have lots and lots of fun -
All in all a lovely girl to have around. Sadly we do not have a terrier proof garden so her time here has to be very limited, but we are enjoying it while we can

Coco has settled in here very well. She settled herself to sleep last night quite early and I was concerned that we might have a distrubed night but she was as good as gold all night (She has now settled herself tonight early again tonight so I hope we have a repeat performance )
She has spent quite a lot of time being left today and has done very well. She also had her first trip in the car. Although I am not sure she 'loved' it, she certainly settled and was quite happy just curl up on the seat.
Her house training is perfect and she has taken a telling off from Scooby for stealing his food very well She has had a grumble at him when she is on the sofa and he comes close but a quick correction has solved that problem.
She is not very enamoured with 'the brush . As soon as it appeared today, she was off. However, Scooby loves being brushed and she couldn't resist coming to see what was going on. She watched for a while and then I started to brush her too. She grumbled a bit but then settled into it. A few more times and I think she might even start to enjoy it

As it was such a lovely day Coco has been outside for most of the day having a ball
And then when it all got too much, time out....
Needless to say, she put herself to bed early tonight, despite understanding that Saturdays are for sleeping in and she was up an hour later than normal this morning

Well, little Coco has left our house and it all seems very quiet without her She has gone off to a more suitable foster home in London. Before she left, hairdresser Lynne, gave her a trim, as Coco told her all about her 'holidays'
From the short time she was with us, we found her to be a delightful little character Her dog skills are excellent and she adored my dog. They played for hours, often very noisily and mouthy, but definitely play
She is quite a vocal dog with a large range of sounds. On one occassion she was sat on my lap and I was stroking her. After a while there was a little rumble from her. I stopped stroking her but she then nudged my hand to carry on. Again came the little rumble and I decided it was almost like a cat purring rather than a growl. She had a range of rumbles, grumbles, yips of joy and excitment. You just have to learn her language
As she has bitten a child, my children were under very strict instuctions with her. Yesterday we had a garden full of children of various ages and my intention was to muzzle her. However she and Scooby were outside playing and it would have prevented her doing that. So, with everybodies agreement, I left the muzzle off. She was as good as gold. She absolutely adored the 6yr old girls and followed them around the garden like a little shadow. She seemed to be attracted by the laughter (and the fact that Scooby was there too) With very close supervision, there were no issues with children while she was here.
She is full of life and very playful and loves her chews. However, once she runs out of batteries, she konks out completely and sleeps like a baby. Every night she was here, she settled herself to bed before us and we didn't hear a peep out of her until the morning.
It was hard to asses her training as she was so easily distracted I certainly would not trust her recall Twice yesterday she had to be hauled back through the fence Other common commands like 'sit' she would do if she felt like it or really wanted the treat that was on offer
She has such a bubbly personality and we will miss her alot
One of my favorite pictures from this morning -
I forgot to say she is also fearless
