Buster 5 yr Patterdale Terrier

It breaks my heart to say Buster was put to sleep 2 days ago. Having found what we thought was a perfect home Buster was unable to tolerate being left and was getting worse, causing destruction to himself and environment. We received him back but he was in such anquish we just couldn't let him suffer with such little prospect of relief of homing. He had a wonderful walk where we met no dogs and he had such cuddles ..  but no he needed peace and we only hope he gets another opportunity to have a wonderful life he will always be loved...

Buster is a 5 yr Patti who is shy by nature.  He is very loving with those he knows but excitable with people and  dogs he doesn’t. He would be fine in with older children..  Needs careful introductions to dogs outside. He is neutered, vac. Busters owners are expecting a baby and know he would not cope with living with toddlers…Sadly so many Patterdales lose their homes for this reason. So if you can offer Buster a home where there isn’t too much comings and goings; a good sized secure back garden and managed on a halti outside. Located in Manchester Area

Enquiries only answered with completed questionnaire

Buster is a small, slight Patterdale much smaller than Gavyn, but every which way a similar looking dog.

Buster loves dogs and has to meet then else he cries and gets everyone coming out of their houses to see who is murdering who.  He is settling being separated...but missing his family. I am now getting a lick on my nose whenever I go in his room.  Will begin to mix him once there is the opportunity

Dear Buster  what a sensitive little sweetheart who finds it so challenging here.  he wants to be with the dogs but is too nervous.  he communicates with them and creates when he hears them passing his door.  Oh how I wish his family come forwards..he is so lovely and somehow seems so vunerable.

Buster loves the garden and his walks..he loves his cuddles and little talks!!! merely to tell him what a sweet love he is and he laps it all up.

Just had a wonderful walk.  Buster met Ozzie my therapist Boxer dog; Meggie a Bedlington who barks alot and Popsy a Staffie.  He didn't make any noise as we went up- controlled him to have strictly measured access. He popped at them quite a lot..no reactions..pop pop  still no reaction all just kept walking  No whimpering;  no whining from Buster.  Then after about 15 mins he fell in with the walk  just silly little pops on another 2 occassions which meant nothing to no-one..  He finished the walk on a lovely note and I swear he was alot calmer walking home.

Buster what a dude cool Cool reserved, proud and very very handsome all he needed was a frock coat and he could be Mr Darcey!

Buster is very up tight in the house with the barking of dogs.  Sometimes its sounds like torture as you carry him downstairs with Buster 'screaming' and then all the dogs barking. Oh how I long for Buster to find his new home so he can be at peace. We have good days and bad days.  Yesterday was a bad day with Buster very on edge and therefore myself very on edge.  Today has been better.  He has used to garden twice without focusing on the backdoors and screaching at the dogs inside.  He pottered around the garden (I sit at the back to keep his focus away from the house).

Such a sweet soul who needs a terrier experienced family; no other pets or young children and low density dog exercise areas.  He is such a lap dog and gives little licks whenever you go to his room.  So sensitive and so much to give. In your company he plays with his toys..when you aren't with him a lot of the time he stands by the door listening and waiting for your footsteps.

Programme of using the garden first thing and last thing at night working.  I spend 20 mins with him or less if he starts to bark at the dogs inside the house (poor neighbours).  Buster is relaxing in the garden more and learning to ignore the fact there are dogs just the other side of that door! He can get very relaxed on his walks  but not mixing with dogs currently as he had a incident and grabbed a lab. I don't feel I need to use a muzzle but I am not allowing him up close to dogs currently.  Far less screaching when he sees dogs.  There is progress..and the incident is the only one I have had for the many months he has been here.  Ofcourse Buster made more noise that then lab...she just ran away a little shocked. We all have our off days!

Will take more pictures.  Buster is a special dog but such a dear dear thing.  We will find his new owners like we did for Mac (nowJack)  and Jack (Dee)  They were with us a long time..but look how happy they are now..

Well Buster has really come on with our garden visits.  He can tolerate being in the garden for much longer without focusing on the dogs in the house.  he uses the garden; potters around and is aware of me but not nervousley focused on me either.

He has also been better on his walks..weeing at least once on 80% of occassions. And doing his business.  keenly seeing other dogs but hasn't squealled for at least 6 days and happy if I hold him in to walk past a dogs and then even getting a sense of closuure with the encounter.  We seem more in rhythm and  attuned.  i feel less frustrated and he much more chilled.

Definitely taking more pictures in next few days.  As ever the sweetheart.

Lovely lovely Buster

Buster a lot more settled currently.  He enjoys his free time in the garden first thing and last thing and has learnt to relax and poutle around.  His walks can be relaxed and a good sign is if he wee's and lays his parcel.  His demeanor can be very uptight or actually enjoying and relaxed with a few sniffs and looking around him.

He is a such a sweet love..although he will be over looked..if only people knew what they were missing.  He has come on several car trips with me and loves to sit in the passenger seat. Adores his cuddles and belly rubs and trades for little kisses or offers you his bone or ball.

Buster met Shaun and Anna today..Shaun knew immediately this was his dog..they walked together and Shaun immediately was giving Buster confidence and I knew he had fallen for Shaun deeply in the same way. Here is Buster in his garden and with his companion..we are over the moon..

Buster had excellent first night.

Very settled and slept all night. Very happy to be there with Shaun and when Lynne went to visit happy to see her but went straight back to Shaun.

Very loving little dog who at last has found the perfect home and the perfect person to help him progress further.

Bless his lovely heart  Laughing  Laughing

Buster is now in a foster situation waiting to come in in the next available space.

Unfortunately Buster has been unsettled in the house when left..as there is a through lounge and he has got very distressed up at the window if people approach the house. left in the kitche he has become equally distressed.

Dear Dear Buster...........such a delicate delicate soul.  If only we could have found you a home with constant company and a dog free environment.  I feel I failed you as I never managed to break you through your apprehension of dog..a few meetings only.

You were so sweet and so tender and would relax down when given 1 to 1. If only circumstances were different but it's not a perfect world.

Loving you ever - but now you are at peace .Special one

If only it were a perfect world. I always have to remind myself of the starfish story, some you can save, and some you can't, but it makes a difference to the ones you can, and that's why you keep trying. And that means making some really heartwrenching decisions.
Sleep tight Buster, everyone tried so hard for you.
Dee

Our lovely Buster so sensitive so frightened.

Such a sweet, sweet spirit.

Run free little man you will always, always be in our thoughts xxxx
