Buddy - 8 year old Staffie Godalming

Dear Dear Buddy.... Diagnosed with an enlarged heart and heart failure within a week of his homing and given an 'anytime' prognosis..Julie and Gary walked a fineline of ensuring he wasn't over-exerted yet enjoying everyday to the full. Dee has been in contact contantly and we called to find out if they were happy that Buddy's picture be used on Rescue Remedies header knowing his poor health status.  Julie and Gary were delighted but then less than a fortnight later Buddy's health went into rapid decline and Julie and Gary said goodbye to him in person last night but remain close friends and companions in spirit forever.

Buddy's thread is below...

Buddy has the usual staffie chequered history  pillar to post.  His owner took him in to help a friend of a friend out for 2 weeks..2 yrs ago.  As soon as it was obvious he wasn't going anywhere she had him neutered and further his training through to attendance at a weekly dog training group where he has become a star!

Buddy has that desperate to please; 'can't help leap and lick you all over' Staffie personality. He is responsive to a wide vocabulary of commands; off the lead on his walks mixing with most dogs and bought back to sit where the owner is wary.  He is lean and keen; alert and astute.

Oh boy he is such a good ambassador for his breed and also for his owner who in her seventies has offered him so much time and all her doggie experience and turn him around to a very  MUST HAVE doggie.

He is too much for one of her older dogs and feels he needs a more active life than she can offer...having been turned down by so many rescues to be able to hold on to him until his home is found she is delighted with us...we are delighted with her.

Dee Peter home checked..and  Buddy's 'friends' went to meet him yesterday.  Well they stayed over 3 hours and are seriously in love. Jean his owner asked to keep him one more week just to come to terms with him going and for him to say goodbye to his training friends. Laughing

Don't how we didn't update Buddy's thread...............We have been so delighted with this homing.  Buddy was met..........................he was adored. Buddy was collected last Friday and he now has Julie and Gary as his devotees who adore his every breathe.

Hi Dee

Got the forms.  Thank you.  Thought I would send you a photograph of me and Buddy taken outside Jean's house last week.  He is so lovely. I have fallen in love with him and keep telling him I love him.  Gary has really taken to him, he rings me up at least once a day just to ask how Buddy is, not how I am.  Thats lovely for him for his first dog, but Buddy is so affectionate to both of us so you just can't help but return it, in bucket fulls I might add.  Nothing is getting done in the house at the moment, I'm still painting the kitchen, the ironing is mounting up and as for housework, forget it.  All I want to do is cuddle and play with Buddy and maybe make a meal for me and Gary.

I'll send you another photograph, when it stops raining and get these forms back to you.  I will speak to you later today as well.

Kind regards
Julie

Dear Buddy, upon meeting I was raving about him...and as soon as Julie and Gary saw his photo they were ready to go through any hurdles,
go to any lengths, Buddy was their dog...

How incredibly sad. Sad

My Spaniel died of the same condition as Buddy. It is such a terribly sad thing to watch and Laddie was taken from me when I least expected it. What I thought was one of his turns turned out to be the last time I would see him and he died on my bedroom floor that night all alone whilst I slept. Sad

Thank you for giving Buddy a good and loving home. xxx
