Bruce Staffie very old bless Deal Kent

His Story: Found stray as a old man in obvious pain and need of a full dental. 5 molars removed and other teeth cleaned. Beginning to feel a whole better! Already neutered but unchipped.

Salient points: Antique Staffie of the utmost value! Matured friendly Staffie who seems to mix well with dogs on his walks. Hearing fine! Eyesight fine despite obvious clouding. Walks with a lively gait, nicely on the lead.

Advert:  Bruce is a lovely cuddly guy.  Found stray in obvious pain from poorly cared for teeth. He has had a full dental with removal of 5 molars and he is now settling and beginning to feel a whole lot better; he is settling as best he can in kennels. He hasn’t the best of vision but see paths in woods and misses obstacles. His hearing is fine and he seems to mix with dogs really well. Bruce loves affection and if you’ve lost your older staffie you’ll know just how special Bruce is!

Bruce has a wonderful rich chocolate brown coat with flecks of gold in. Very healthy fur and he has good mobility. He has given some family or families a lot of love and now deserves to have his family around him in his twilight years. He is a character and what joy he will bring. Really hoping that someone will come forwards and bring this great friend of ours out of kennels so he can enjoy hopeful 2-3 yrs beside someone’s hearth and entwined with their heart!

Bruce's Thread below: Dear Bruce came out of the pound bemused.  He journied in the front of the car..but was presenting as stressed and poss? blind  and with a mouth full of rotten teeth.  He settled over the course of the journey which I was pleased about as I was worrying he was in pain.

I gave him a walk and discovered so much about him ..firstly he was fast on his feet. His back legs are a little wobbly as old staffies legs are  going every which way. He could hear well.  He was housetrained; squatting rather then cocking his leg. Already neutered. A_N_D  he can see rather well.  I tested him taking him into the woods and he picked up the path even though it wasn't very well defined and missed trees etc and continued at a fair pace.  Boy he must have been a live-wire as a 9 month pup!  Bruce is the oldest Staffie I've met.. what a pleasure to help him in his last years.

This picture hints at his poor teeth. Bless him he is going to the vets tomorrow for a full MOT, dental and whatever he needs.

Left him settled in his warm cosy bed...having eaten a nice hearty meal.

Laughing  Oh he has....captured my heart.   Just love the oldies Well Bruce has had a day in the vets which is distressing for him BUT  Tim our vet has made a statement  "he had the worst set of teeth he has EVER seen in all his career!"   He took quite a few out, some of which crumbled on the touch of his instruments.  Bruce must have been in a LOT of pain. Just a few days and he will begin to feel well again.  His bloods were perfect so no cause for concern about his general health and his fur is shining and showing health.  So as we say in the rescue  ...onwards and upwards.

Brucee  nice to see you..to see you NICE!

Bruce Forthright!

I cant tell you how happy I am to hear Bruce was met by Lorraine and Frank and went home to see if fostering is an option for him. Such a lovely boy... so so didn't deserve to be in kennels!!!

Await news....

Had first full day with this lovely boy , last night he came up stairs to sleep with harry , blue and us settled straight away , slept through with not a mutter until about 7.30 then talked to tell us he was around . Took him to the garden where he did a very long wee . Had a walk down to meet trudy at her home where of course she welcomed him in with open paws and he responded very well , after an hours walk with her and blue he did decide to try and get a bit to fresh for trudys liking and she gave him a quick telling off which he respected and responded by playing with her football which he got a dirty look for . Seems to have a surprising amount of energy for his age , hope he doesnt over do it . He has settled in with others very quickly and well . At first wasnt sure he was allowed on furniture but now helps himself to the most comfortable seats , one of which he is fast asleep on as i write this . Lovely character and a delightful old soul .  Very Happy

Bruce with his sunshine personality  continues to thrive with Frank and Lorraine and will do so from now on..as they have decided he was just too perfect! Sadly they lost their old Staffie Harry  Crying or Very sad within days of Bruce's arrival but believe Harry gave them the wink  Wink  delighted with the new addition.

( so pleaseed as you have guessed by now Bruce holds a special place in my heart)

Thank you all at rescue remedies for saving such a beautiful boy he is an absolute delight. We can see why he has such a special place in your heart Lynne.Just had to adopt him after Harrys recommendation.
Bruce has a character very similar to Harry, easy going ,happy go lucky,
nothing upsets or bothers him,a real gem of a dog who has all the best traits of the staffy.Have registered him with our vet who thinks he is about 8 or 9 and has had a bit of a hard life in the past, but will now get the love and comfort he deserves for the rest of his days, which hopefully will be many. angel13
will get some more pics sorted asap

I'm so glad to read that Bruce has been successfully rehomed. He's the kind of dog I'd apply to adopt if only my circumstances were right again to have a dog in my life!

Having adopted an elderly greybearded dog in the past I can speak from experience about it being so very worthwhile to adopt an oldie; I'd do so again, willingly.

Quick update on Bruce, has setteled in really well now has two steady walks a day, which seems to be improving his back leg movement a little.
During his walks he has his bit of off lead freedom and likes to do his own thing !! (very Harry like). In between his walks he likes nothing more than to roll over for a belly rub and have a nice long snooze in his bed or on the chair. Was out walking last weekend when we saw a mum with her little daughter who was pulling a toy wooden dog along behind her, made us all laugh when Bruce began to sniff the toy dogs bum, even gets on with toy dogs!!!Bruce sends his thanks to the wondeful RR staff who helped him on his journey and so do we,bless you.
