Bart Patterdale Terrier 6-7 yrs Weedon Aylesbury BucksBart started his life living with dogs. He was homed to an elderly couple and has led a happy life until his last owner died a month ago. Bart has remained in the house with a friend going in twice a day. The house has been sold and so he is coming to us on Saturday from 'up north'. We will neuter, vax and chip him. We will get everything done that needs doing.
Bart has had free roam in his house sleeping and being where he wants. He needs a terrier proof garden and exit security. "If he saw an animal and was off lead he would be gone." Bart mixes well with children, people and dogs. he can be left but likes to sit at the window and wait. He has a passion for 'cats and small furries' so to be avoided.
Lovely affectionate Patti who will be so pleased for company and if all goes well with Freddie, Bart will be my next foster or have to go into kennels.
If you are interested in re-homing please complete our homing questionnaire so we can ensure our dogs are matched and will suit your circumstances/lifestyle.

Little Bart was jetted in today from Cheshire. He spent the day in the car as he accompanied me from North London through Central London to South London the kennels to organised Bobby's homing and then on to wait whilst I visited Rose. Back home he enjoyed meeting the 'gang'. "He very much needs the snip" (I'm quoting Fern my Irish bitch here!)
Adore him. He is rotund with a lovely face with whiting muzzle. He is so much like Raffles the 2nd Patterdale we helped who sent me into raptures and was responsible for 'Patterdale Rescue!' being set up.

Bart the charmer. Barbara has had our telephone number for about 6 yrs and yesterday decided it was time for another Patterdale to fill the deep hole her previous Patti left 3 yrs ago.
Bart will be joining Whisky her 3 legged Jack Russell. A more perfect home we couldn't imagine for him.
So the the plan is snip and chip tomorrow then a journey up to Nuneaton nr Coventry to his new home Thursday

Bart met Barbara and Whisky today. Barbara was full of emotion..the dog of her dreams. Whiskey was nervous and tested Bart out and Bart passed as the 'friend that isn't interested in hurting you'. It will take a few days for Whiskey to feel secure but they had another walk tonight together and Whiskey was a lot more confident.
Whiskey has taken himself to bed after a demanding day and Bart is currently stretched out on Barbara's lap watching TV!

Bart came back to us yesterday thankfully Westie Lyn has elasticated her house walls again to save him kennelling.
The story of Bart's return. Bart was homed in with an 11 yr old 3 legged JRT who is a sweetheart but defensive around dogs. He had lived with a male Patterdale for about 6 yrs until the Patti died 3 yrs ago. When these two had first been homed they apparently had 'the fight to the death' but after months of the use of muzzles and 2 of them around they had bonded and grown into one another. So on introducing Bart personally I had managed to override the JRT's defense and they came into the house friends. The JRT then had a go so the owner slipped a muzzle on, with the aim to build confidence. They were building confidence until she came home and found them in the same room together happily without the JRT's on muzzle. She paniced fearing the worst and a tussle ensued(no damage done) Now she was too unsure to have Bart off muzzle. Basically bless her she was living in fear of another 'to the death' fight like she had encountered with her previous pairing all those years ago. After living on her nerves she was making herself ill and her JRT went off his food. Bart came back straight into a pack of 7 westies and 2 fell terriers as though he had always been there. His 'owner' was amazed and I think began to understand what I had been telling her all along Bart has no issues with dogs (But yes he is a terrier so will have his moments if pushed) Westie lyn will keep us informed, but I'm sure Bart's home will come up soon he is delightful.

Bart the barrel doing well
he is a bit clingy after all the changes he has had recently.
Bart is a very easy going dog and was sniffed thoroughly by Jay (honorary westie)
He is eating and playing loves going out and about.
He has been telling the new neighbours off....
Dislikes being picked up, although it is not advisable as he is roly poly boy and heavy!
He gets on the furniture and wants to stay there.(Barbara had to use his lead to remove him)

Bart has moved into a trial adoption yesterday. Bart has had so much change and it will now take awhile for him to feel secure so we really hope he can relax. Westie Lyn is delighted with the home and is keeping in close contact.

Sadly Bart is back within 48 hours of trial homing. He had a scuffle with the resident dog which happened whilst the owners were out and although the couple presented happy and welcoming there was blood and a slight catch to the ear.
He is now mixed back in with Westie lyn's pack but is showing signs of too much change we'll hang on in there for him he needs to settle. Sometimes this happens with our dogs and it seems sometimes beyond our control. Just pray a terrier home comes up who are able to provide assurance and sticking power to allow him to settle though this 'sea of change' He had a really wonderful week with myself and I couldn't praise him higher in his adjustment to living in a pack and the sweetest of natures to boot!

I'm very pleased to say Bart was rehomed today. He has gone with a wonderful couple who lost their darling Patterdale recently. They are looking for character...hope he doesn't disappoint
