Arnold Boxerx Bull Dog 3 yrs Coulsdon
His Story: Found stray, homed from the pound, but returned. Proved himself to be a superstar with ourselves and homed in with a young family with dogs and cats. Asserted himself over another male after 2 months so rehomed with a friend. Child cuddled him whilst a sleep in bed and nipped in confusion. Family are happy to foster until his home is found.
Salient points: Soft coat, soft nature. Shy, sensitive Boxer cross who has developed confidence. Has lived with dogs, cats, people and young children. Has reticent nature so needs respect until he builds trust. Not to live with resident male dog or small furries. Noise, raised stick and sudden movement/ approach sensitive usually tendency to flee.
Advert: Arnold has beauty and his spirit shines. Shy, gentle, sensitive soul clothed in a bull breed body. He is 2-3 years old and we think he hasn't had a good background but has come through more fluent than most dogs. He is proven to live with respectful young children. He is noise sensitive e.g. shouting, hammering and when any stick is lifted like a broom. Everyone who meets him connects with their heart and seeing his overtly gentle and caring soul.
Arnold walks well outside after initial enthusiasm! He is fit and enjoys periods outside off lead within a pack whilst aware of his noise sensitivity. Fine on lead, around general traffic and loves the car. He understands sit, come and stay and lie down. Housetrained. Neutered, vax'd and chipped. Fine being left. Cat friendly, chicken and livestock friendly, but not small furries. Arnold's current owners sing his praises on high and want the best for him and able to give a thorough handover of needs and care. He needs a family to love him and has so much love to give.
Please visit this Arnold's individual thread, in Dogs needing homes in our care on this forum to find out more about him and follow his progress.
If you are interested in re-homing please complete our homing questionnaire so we can ensure our dogs are matched and will suit your circumstances/lifestyle.

Arnold has arrived. We dont know where he will go..he is very nervous but not aggressively nervous. We will RR neuter him on Tuesday to help him along his way!

The rescue that had come forwards for Arnold have decided they won't take him . We all love him so although financially and spacewise it is very difficult for us, inwardly the feeling is delight to help him
Arnold has lived with another dog but both were unneutered and after 4 months they both got hyper excited with visitors arriving and tussled with Arnold catching the other dogs ear. The family kept him without separating him but felt better not to risk a more serious fight. Neutering would have sorted that problem! They kept for 3 weeks waiting for a place to come up for him.
We neutered Arnold yesterday so now he is ready for his home as he is vax'd and chipped. He was adored by the vet staff. Calm yesterday but not nervous. In fact he has stopped the trembling he had done when he first came to the kennels.
Emma put him through a cat test this am and he passed with flying colours as we 'almost' knew he would.

ArnoldI took Arnie out yesterday, he was very nervous in the kennel, he let me put the harness with no problem. Out on the walk he was very good on the lead, no pulling, happy to walk alongside me.
He was nervous of vans passing us, not so much cars, but the vans were noisier, at the halfway point I made fuss of him, he wasn't too keen about the water bottle.
A lovely boy who needs some serious attention and fuss to bring him out of his shell.

Arnold is finally cheering up!
Since arrival he has been shaky and weedy and scared of all around him, but this morning he has proved that he IS settling and has even started to eat his dinner up as soon as he sees it.
He had a bath today as he was a bit grubby and even this didn't put him off of his food and didn't cause any regression...

Well as everyone who has seen me recently will know I have fallen hook, line and sinker 4 this dog. When i first met him he made me realise how much dog owners annoy me with the exception of say 5 percent. It is so good that dogs do not hold grudges like people do or lets face it none of these dogs would be able 2 get a new home. Lucky for us they don't an that means dogs like Arnold can come out of their hidden little world an greet us with waggy tails and bouncy bodies go arnold!!!!

Arnold has found his pack we hope. Here he is with Wendy who fell for him big time having been looking for her 3rd rescue. Her first rescue was one of Jess the Staffie's pup via Joanne (Jess was found preXmas 07 on a London street being given away pregnant and close to birth.)

Arnold UpdateJust to let you know Arnold's doing really well so far. We've been for a lovely long walk it was great to see him really enjoying himself with his new friends. He has been brilliant with the cats and kids so far and is clearly a huge softy that wants nothing more that some love and to feel safe and secure. He has become my shadow today - I think he sees me as his protector from this big scary world. He's making inroads with my other dogs too. Elsie is pleased to have a new friend, Harry kind of likes him and wants to play but I think has his nose out of joint a bit. A few grumbles here and there but nothing serious. Arnold being very sensible and subservient. I'm hopeful that a few days of sensible handling will help even things out. Such a lovely boy. LOVES our stream. Done a lot of paddling today.
Seemed a bit stiff in the back legs today after his walk? Anyone notice that before - anything picked up by the vets?

Arnold - what a sweetieAwwww, we so love Arnold He's such a softie. Never more than a few metres from my side, but so good when he has to be left for an hour or so. And really starting to settle in - integrating much more rather than retreating always to a safe spot. He had a proper play with Elsie today, and Harry is starting to get used to him. Only one growl today and they belted along on the walk together beautifully. Pack walking is doing them all very good by realising it's ME in charge! Oh, just think he's beautful.
He's fantastic with cats but is desparate to eat my guinea pigs and rabbit!!! Naughty Arnold. Am going to have to keep very close watch of that as he's getting the other two excited about the too!

I am always amazed at how dogs can differentiate between species. I have had dogs come here who have total respect for my tiny Chihuahua x - who is half the size of my cats - and are absolutely terrified of him but would happily kill one of my cats if given half the chance...Rolo and Stan come to mind. I have had many more who completely ignore the cats, but are driven crazy by the ferrets, rabbits, chinchillas and rats.

Sadly Arnold has come on our books looking for a new home. He has been the model dog with all aspects of his busy family life and come on leaps and bounds in his confidence. He meets all dogs inside and outside really well but has recently been challenging Harry the resident male with a bit of positioning which has made Harry nervous. Unfortunately this ended in a fight yesterday, which may be influenced by there being a resident bitch also in the pack. We have concluded that Arnold confidently manages living with bitches, mixes well with dogs inside and outside his territory but doesn't want to share his home with a resident male though would continue to mix with visiting dogs. His family are devastated to have to say goodbye but for his sake need him to feel relaxed and continue to enjoy life to the full. Arnold is cat friendly and child friendly and has the most wonderful vib. as a dog. He still has 5 stars plus!

Arnold has moved into his new home as a trial adoption. Dee will be keeping in contact. Its our first Facebook adoption where distressed owners put their sadness up and friends came forwards as a genuine family for Arnold. Wendy and Mike have been supreme in loving Arnold and caring for his future needs, despite Arnold no longer being able to stay with them.

Arnold again has come on to our books. He has done very well since he has been in his new family. Enjoying his walks; left for periods whilst his owners are both at work. Unfortunately the daughter approached him to give him a hug whilst he was a sleep in his bed and he snapped and caught her. She is fine about it but they feel the daughter may not read his signs well enough for him not to do it again. Kindly the family are holding on to him as they love him dearly and saving him going into kennels in November. We will find him his home soon we hope.
