A bit more info on the fete from the organiser's website:
"Stone Fete looks set to stage a giant comeback this year with its ‘BESIDE THE SEASIDE’ event on Sunday 5 July.
Paying homage to the good old-fashioned frolics of the British seaside, the event sponsored by Bluewater features a host of activities including a real-sand beach with deckchairs, free funfair, crazy golf, and main stage entertainment.
A stroll along the promenade will deliver an assortment of stalls and attractions by local groups and associations. Refreshments include traditional seaside fish & chips and a fresh seafood stall, BBQ, cream teas and beer tent.
A full day of music will be provided, including acts such as the Take That Experience, Rod Stewart Tribute, the Life of Brian, and the Beached Boys.
Back by popular demand is Tommy Baker, the UK’s No.1 basketball freestyler, who helped launch the youth zone last summer. Since last June, Tommy has made appearances at the NBA Jam Session 2009 and has broken three world records. He can also be seen in the new series of ‘Guinness World Records Smashed’ currently on Sky One.
Kids and adults alike can also take advantage of the free funfair rides and inflatables that include seaside favourites such as the Helter Skelter, Ferris Wheel, seaside train and shooting gallery.
A number of local schools are taking part in an art exhibition, which sees children creating bespoke beach hut paintings to line the beach, judged on the day by local artists.
Main fete sponsor, Bluewater, has chosen to tie the event into its programme of community activities celebrating its 10th anniversary. Commenting on Bluewater’s involvement, Andrew Parkinson, Bluewater General Manager, said: “The Stone Parish Fete is a perfect opportunity for us to return the goodwill and support that the local community has for Bluewater, without whom we would not have enjoyed ten successful years. It is therefore with great pleasure and pride that we are participating, and we are confident that the Fete will be a great day for all concerned.”
Other sponsors include Stone Pit restorations Ltd and Frontier Developments, who are both involved in regeneration of the vast chalk quarry that sits next to the recreation ground in Stone.
The event returns after 11 years following overwhelming support from residents in a recent parish survey.
In a bid to minimise parking issues on the day, a free open-top Fete bus will collect residents at designated bus stops around Stone, Greenhithe and Bluewater and take them to the Fete."
Looks like it will be a fab day out with all this in addition to the dog show!! If anyone else wants to help out/stop by???

for all of those who are coming to this, here is the link about the fete for more info http://www.stoneparishcouncil.com/ (but it doesn't mention the dog show).
Apparently there will be buses laid on from various points but there will also be parking too. The post code for all of you Sat Nav-ers out there is DA9 9DQ and apparently the easiest way to get there is to come off the M25 at junction 1A.
There are apparently loads of banners in the area advertising it and they are shipping in 60 tonnes of sand for the fake beach
we can get there from 9am to set up, so will be another 6am wake up call on Sunday!!!
You can see what fun we have so if you are free and can get there, come along!! If you have a RR dog (or a dog we can pretend is a RR dog ) bring them too and we will see if we can win all of the rosettes
|
Bud
|
Do we know were abouts you will be at the fete? or is it too soon. let me know and I will bring the “Stuff” with me and also a staffie disguised as an RR with his RR necktie on.....not sure about winning rosettes but we will enter.

I have to say that the details are a bit sketchy!!! I have just been told to turn up at that post code after 9 and we will be part of the dog show!!!!

I look forward to meeting the infamous Bud!!!

What a good day!!! Despite the threat of rain (and a few spots) it was glorious sunshine (as my sunburn will testify too!! )
We were right by the dog show and were cleaned out of almost everything (if anyone had any dog stuff to go in our now-empty dog tombola, please let me know!)
Moss turned up with his family and did a great job showing everyone how delicious the dog biscuits were (he is fast turning into our best customer!!!)
Our stall was manned by myself and my Mum, Sharon and her Mum and the lovely Nicky!! Her better half brought the lovely Bud down to see us in the afternoon and it was lovely to meet them both.
Rosettes were won by Moss, Bud and Lucie and we gave out a lot of leaflets and raised a fair bit too!!
Sharon will be on later to give you the magic figure and i will put up some pictures when i retreive my camera from the car!!
Thank you everyone for helping on what turned out to be a veryh good day!!!

Phew, that was one busy day, but very satisfying
Our stall, even if I say so myself, looked the best ever today! We have now got set-up down to a fine art! It also helped to have extra tables to display on. The pace was fast and furious on our tombolas. Nicci excelled herself today and truly upped her game on ticket sales! Pure magic and I think we all had fun!
Many posters/contact details were give out today and one of the highlights was a volunteer to help at some of our events - Olivia. So I will be e-mailing her later
Nicci is also going to look into borrowing a dog suit for one of our events - guess you will be waiting for the photos on that one She has also offered to write to some of the pet suppliers for some donations of samples and dog accessory stock as we are running very low.
My mum has volunteered to make us some more RR bandanas so hopefully Stevie's mum will do the finishing/branding for her
TinaD, once again, pulled out all the stops and worked all week baking, ticketing and planning with her mum's back-up and support.
And here is the number you have all been waiting for ... drum roll ...
a fantastic £300! That makes the total for the last 3 weeks an amazing £650!
Well done!
Our next fundraising event will be: Barleylands Boot Sale, Billericay, Essex - Sun 12 July 2009

Can't wait to see the doggie suit - such a shame I will be elsewhere on 18th July, but I guess it is only fair that if you have the banner, you should have the doggie suit too
