28 June 2009 - Dog Show & Stall, Battersea ParkAs a direct result of our sponsored walk event today in Battersea, we have kindly been offered a free stall at the Battersea Park Dog Show on the 28th June by a lady from the Wandsworth Parks Police who is involved in organising the event. They run 20 dog categories in the show and only have one other stall so this is a fantastic opportunity for us.
I'll be giving her a call this week for further details. Please let me know if you are available to help out - all offers, as always, gratefully received

Sorry, no can do for this one.
I do hope someone can, as it was nice to be invited in the first place and it is a wonderful opportunity. Running stalls at these kind of events is usually quite good fun too

The organiser very kindly called me today to re-confirm her offer of a free stall at the Battersea Dog Show. TinaD & I will aim to arrive at 09.30am to set-up on the day. The public will start to arrive at 10.30 and there will be 20 dog shows throughout the day which will start at around 11.30.
Our stall will be set-up in the Boules Area (not to be confused with bowls) which is just along from the car park at the Albert Gate Entrance.
We would really welcome any offers of help and would be delighted to meet anyone that is able to pay us a visit on the day.

Phew, where do I begin!
Firstly, a big 'thank you' to TinaD who works so hard preparing for these events. It's not just about turning up on the day and I know TinaD is constantly baking, labelling and sourcing stock - she puts a great deal of effort in. Couldn't do it without her and it's a pleasure to spend the day with her. This time we also had the company of her niece Tia (age 10 I believe), who was a great help. Plus Lucie, TinaD's RR dog, who was entered into the 'Best Crossbreed' class and came 2nd and is now the proud owner of a rosette! Photos will follow.
We were delighted to have Nikki's help for the day (Bud's mum) - thanks Nikki! The help really made a difference.
Paul & Annie came along with the lovely Moss & Julie, Tony, Rebekah & Oliver also attended with Stevie. Lovely to see our RR dogs and have the support of their families - thank you very much. Stevie was also entered in a class - I leave his family to update further
Other positives from the day were:
A lady looking to home a terrier, a reporter from a Wandsworth newspaper who took photos of the stall and hopes we will get a mention (subject to the editor), a kindly veterinary nurse who wants to get our posters up in as many of their branches as possible and a couple of ladies who recognised our stall and made a beeline for us and TinaD's liver cake - they are now old friends! We have also been told that we are welcome to a free stall at the Battersea Dog Show next year.
All in all a very good day, the sun shone and we raised ... drum roll ... £164!
Our next fundraising event is: Stone Fete Companion Dog Show, Stone, Kent - Sunday, 5 July 2009

Well done everybody That's fantastic
I second everything Sharon said about Tina D - she puts in so much into these events and her liver cake is now infamous Sharon - don't be so modest - how much do you contribute
It is so nice to hear that some of the RR dogs came along to support (and brought their families ) - I don't think you can underestimate what a difference that makes.
So Lucie now has a rossette - well done
Great news - well done all

Battersea!!Thank you girls!! You made us all welcome and we had a fantastic day out - highlights were Lucie and Stevie winning rosettes and getting on famously til Stevie noticed that Lucie had some liver cake and he didn't, so gave a little growl...... hence we do not have a photo of the two prize winners TOGETHER!! Stevie trying to win a class with a pair of bunny ears - see his forum for that one!! Still laughing about the fluffy dog in the Gucci Suede Bag - Please Sharon do not ask me to make THEM - Bandanas are my limit.... Also Rebekah grooming the miniature "greyhound" she told us..... er where? When pointed out - we discovered it was a miniature "daschund"!!! Well done for raising that amazing amount of money..... and we hope to be with you in two weeks in good old Essex!!
Take care, thanks again for a great day - Stevie and the Bandanas!! XXXXX
Bandana Stevie and his precious rosette!!
Right girls...... I want £5 worth of tickets for your lovely tombola please....

Lovely photos (and captions!!) Well done Stevie for your rossette and, boy do you look cool in your bandana
|
Tina D

Ladies, you are very kind but we all do our bit and keep it all ticking over in different ways!
It was a fab day and we all cheered for Stevie and Lucie when they got their rosettes (as Stevie's Oliver said the judges must have been blind or they would have both been first in every class!!)
The dog in the picture was sooo funny! he had the saddest face but LOVED the biscuits and liver cake!! He would just come and sit in front of our stall every time his owner went past!!!
It was excellent to meet more of the RR family in person and to see the lovely Moss again (i do love him!!)
I will sort out more pictures later (or i will be completely inept, will email them to someone more competent than me and they will put them up!!!)

Well done!Well done to all of the team on Sunday for another great fund raiser!
It was lovely to catch up with some of the RR pack.
Well done to Lucie and Stevie for their rosettes. I shall look out for a picture of Stevie in bunny ears, he is cute enough already. Lucie is a great ambassador for RR, we hope that one day Moss' manners will be as good as hers.
We have stocked up on TinaD's dog treats. At obedience class this week Moss will be the only one being bribed with a bag on home made yummy liver cake tied up with a pretty bow!

lovely photosI saw the photos of Stevie with the bunny ears, shows what a lovely, good natured boy he is.
Look at those photos of Lucie, she looks so pleased with herself! Pretty in pink!
I wouldn't inflict my cooking on anyone, not even a dog! So we will be along to the Stone Fete to stock up on some more of your goodie bags.
