2 patterdale bitchesHi everyone, I have a small lurcher(male) and Female Patterdale
I love these terriers and have a question to ask. Can two patterdale females live together if one is 6 and new one a puppy. This is a theoretical question at the moment and I dont want to go into too much detail but I have a feeling I may end up being asked if I could rehome.
Is this feasible?

It may work for a while but it really is the worst combination bitch terrier with bitch terrier...especially with one going through puberty.

My parents brought up two terrier bitches together from when they were 4 weeks old, until they were sadly separated just before their 15th birthday.
It wasn't without problems, from what I remember being told (I arrived a few years after the dogs!) they used to fight over beds, even though they had separate ones. However, as soon as their beds moved to the kitchen , they stopped fighting, and refused to sleep separately. I only ever remember them fighting over food, and it only took a sharp 'OI' or a glass of water for them to stop, and there was never any blood.
The dogs used to lick each other clean, curl up together, would panic if one went out (one become completly uninterested in going for walks, but would wait at the front door for her sister to come back). It was heartbreaking only having one of these girls, the bond between them was so strong.
So it can work, although my parents said they weren't doing it again (think thats more about having two puppies destroying the garden though).

I kept a JRT and a JRTX with about a year between them. The JRT bullied the JRTX to start with and I would never leave her alone with the pup at first, though I left them in view of each other. The JRT was very jealous to start with, wouldn't sleep with the pup and got huffy if she tried to curl up with her. They had separate beds for some time (about a year). Eventually, the JRT stopped sulking and they became friends. When the JRT got very old she became a bit demanding and would constantly assert her domination over the JRTX and when she died I think the JRTX felt a small degree of relief... she did get very awkward towards the end. But generally they got on well and there were no fights, the occasional cross words. Food was never an issue. Incidentally, I bought them one large bed to sleep in and they didn't but when I bought two small beds they both tried to sleep in it at once. I ended up with a lot of beds dotted about the place. 
However, it did take ages for the JRT to bond with the JRTX and that really was the JRT's 'fault' not the pup's - she just wanted to be friends. The JRT was a strange little thing though and went through an additional puppy stage on the arrival of the JRTX who could think of all kinds of mischief in the space of 10 seconds!
