13 Sep 2009 - Culture in the Park, East HampshireHi there
We have very kindly been offered a free stall at the Culture in the Park event in the Queen Elizabeth II Country Park, Gravel Hill, Horndean, Hampshire PO8 0QE on the 13 September.
We are already committed to the PAWS in the Park event in Kent on the same day so have limited people resources. Is there anyone out there that could run/help with a stall for the Culture event on the 13th September in Hampshire
Plot Logistics:
• Setup access will be between 08.00 and 11.30 hrs. You must be ready by 12.00
• Removal access will start at 18.00 hrs.
If so, I need to get our application to them returned no later than Friday 28th August so please let me know before that date.
Your help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Oh dear, TinaD gets the last laugh - I am going to have to make the liver cake for this event
As my usual little helpers are away for this one, if anybody could help out, I would be extremely grateful. Queen Elizabeth Park is a lovely setting and very accessible, being right on the A3 just south of Petersfield.

Well, we think we are there Putting game went missing (thankfully now lcoated) and Belle decided to eat the entire supply salmon biscuits right down to using the ribbon as dental floss Do you think she needs lessons from Lucie on being taster
Janet has worked her socks off to replace them - still at least we can honestly say they are irressitable
Weather forecast is good and we are hoping that Stanley will be able to join us for the day so fingers crossed for a good day

Well, today was both good and bad - in the morning the weather was great, then the clouds rolled in and the wind got up and before it was even openning time, it was freezing So Janet put in a quick call and the first 'thank you' of the day goes to Alwyn and Janet's sister Lynne who arrived with a supply of warm clothes for us (Alwyn even got the colour co ordination right for me )
Janet and I did intend to pick up Stanley from the kennels so he could spend the day with us but when we arrived there were signs everywhere saying 'No Dogs'. We thought it was odd and as the afternoon wore on more and more dogs appearred. It turns out the signs were left over from a music festival last night but by the time we realised that it was too late to go and get him and get him back before the kennels closed. So that was a big shame.
However, as always the tomabola was very popular and the putting game (price doubled from 50p to a pound) did well. We also sold a few doggies items or the final amount raised was
GBP 211.00
A huge thanks to Janet and her family - Janet worked so hard doing the liver cake and biscuits and we had some fun together today, Lynne turned out to be the bestest seller of the treats and Lynne and Alwyn were an excellent support team. Thanks everyone

Whow sounds a very postive day but yes you get a sense this morning and this afternoon autumn arrived.
(I walked Stanley this pm so I'd hate to think you had tried and then found his kennel empty!)

Thank you, Lynne
Lovely photos of Bella and Paddy in their new beds too - no more biscuits, Bella, otherwise you will out grow it
I decided two things today -
1. I am going to try and dye the awning of my gazebo red - it will fit better with our literature.
2. We need a second banner. I think we missed some doggie people today because they passed to far away to see what we were about. Before I investigate - does anybody have a contact and any opinion on design? Our current banner does not include Staffie Rescue and that should be on there too now. Please let me know.

Wow!!!! That is FANTASTIC!!!!! Well done!!!! I bet you are all having a well-deserved glass of wine now eh??
You are brave to try and dye your gazebo!!! I have often thought that it is a shame that ours is blue and not red.
I have been wanting to get a second banner for ages now. I keep trying to go to a shop near me to see how much one would cost but i always get there too late when it is shut!!! I do think that we should include Staffie rescue as it is now a big part of what we do and would draw interest from Staffie Owners/lovers.

Bottle almost dry
The big advantage of having an old and knackered(oops am I allowed to say that )gazebo is that if it goes wrong, it doesn't matter - the worst that could happen is that it would look 'interesting'
Have a think about the banner.

That's fantastic Karen, well done to you and the team !
Sounds like we had a brilliant fundraising weekend all round and such a tremendous effort by everyone. So thankful for that as we are about to go into Autumn and the opportunity for further fundraising events will start to dwindle.

Well done to you all!
I think these events must be such hard work for you fundraisers and having to remake a whole load of biscuits involves even more effort, but it did make me chuckle. At least you know that dogs must love them!

I didn't do much chuckling when I came home and found Bella surrounded by cellophane and ribbons! I didn't laugh at all until later in the day when I worked out that she'd managed to eat nearly 200 pieces of salmon biscuit in less than 20 minutes It was worth the effort though - we all had a great day out
