Just wondering about this (and any other boot fairs that we might do) i assume that we would have to provide our own table??
I was going to borrow a tressle table off of my neighbour but he doesn't have it any more, so does anyone have a tressle/folding table that we can borrow for the boot sale season (preferable to borrowing it each time, but that might be workable if you are on the East side of London )
I have a wallpaper table but i don't think it would be strong enough to put much on.

I have two wallpaper tables (stable - unless you want to lie down on one!) and a folding table for the end. Plus will raid a source I know for some folding chairs

In case any one notices, we were going to do this event on the 14th June, but have moved it to the 12th July so that we can cover the Village Mid Summer Fair on the 13th June and have a lie-in on Sunday 14th
So if anyone is now free on the 12th July to help TinaD and I we would both love to hear from you.

Well, woke up to a wet garden and a breeze. Checked weather forecast and CM11 and its saying 10am no rain, but cloud and 1pm cloud/sun so fingers crossed - gonna try for it anyway.
Worst case scenario - we pack up early and have a snooze this pm

Well the rain held off! It was a bit windy in places and TinaD had to get her hammer out and stake the gazebo, but all in all we were lucky. Disappointed that it wasn't as busy as usual and guess the weather played it's part in that, but at least it didn't stop us!
First highlight, was that I flashed an RR poster at the guy on the gate and told him what we were raising money for and he let us in with two full car loads for free! Saved us £14. The Barleylands people were kind to us and even gave us a fiver for the collection tin
Well, a certain very handsome boy sends Dee a big wet slobbery kiss and wants to be remembered to her!!! Boy does he look fit! Arthur (RR dog) came with his family and paid us a visit! Pristine white soft coat, in gorgeous condition, lovely temperament, smiling all the way and now weighing in at 32 kilos! He has certainly moved forward since his rescue days. He is definitely a credit to his owners and very much loved. Lovely to see them all and many thanks to them for their kind donation
Lots of posters given out today and nice to see lots of Staffie supporters.
On the way home I passed my local vet who was holding a Fun Day today. Not one to miss an opportunity , I parked up and went to see one of the veterinary nurses. (They already display our poster in their waiting area). I handed over the RR posters I had left from the bootsale and she promised to hand them out during the rest of the afternoon
And here is the number you have all been waiting for ... drum roll ... £205!
Our next fundraising event will be: Northlands Park Fun Dog Show, Basildon - Saturday, 18th July, 2009

TinaD kindly bought me a dog face mask with ears, but unfortunately when I tried it on it cut off my blood supply! Hence no photos.
I will make adjustments to it and wear it next time!

Alas, the dog mask was too small but hopefully Sharon will get out her needle and thread and we can have photos this week!!!
It was a good day, shame it wasn't busier (one of the men there said it was the slowest day of the year) but we made loads and gave out loads of leaflets so we may get some enquiries from it. We have been incredibly luck with the weather so far so we can't really complain. We were telling people about next week's one too so we may get some more people showing up!
Sharon did a sterling job getting us in for free, she had the poster ready and waiting, the poor guy didn't stand a chance!!!!
Sharon's Mum also did a great job sorting out the clothes (and then re-sorting them several times when the wind proved too strong!!) and was in charge of the clothes selling (and mostly in charge of us too!!!) We didn't take my Mum or Lucie (there was no room in the car!!) but i have got some photos of Arthur which i will put up later. x

A parting wish ...A very touching gesture came out of the blue at the Barleylands event yesterday's. A lady came up to the stall and spent some time looking at our display and the dogs rehoming poster.
She then said that her neighbour had recently died and she had been a great animal lover. She had told her neighbours before she died not to buy flowers for her funeral, but to donate the money to the RSPCA. Her friend then handed me her £10 flower contribution and said that she thought that Rescue Remedies needed and deserved to have the money more. She said that she knew that that would have been what her neighbour would have wanted
A priceless gesture very much appreciated.

It is that kind of generosity and that of the guy working at the boot sale who gave us £5 that really touches your heart.
It is also a gift that can be made safe in the knowledge that we will appreciate what it means and will remember the person and the gesture-the money and the goodwill doesn't just get lost in the admin chain somewhere.

That really was very kind and we all know those donations are going straight to the 'frontline'.

At long last, here is a photo of the lovely Arthur, a RR dog now living in sunny Southend who brought his family to our boot sale last week
Arthur wouldn't look at me for his picture, he really did like me (honest!!) but i think he was upset that i wouldn't give him a biscuit (not my fault, Arthur!! Your family said it would give you a poorly tummy!!!) Thank you to Arthur's family for making the special trip to come and see us and support RR!!! It is always lovely when you see a dog thriving in their new home. It makes you realise what you are doing it all for!!
Sorry for the delay in getting this photo up, a combination of my slackness and a tempremental computer!!! I didn't take any pictures of the stall (cos i forgot!) but i am sure you all know what it looks like by now...

So wonderful to see Arthur looking so well and loved Poor little mite spent the worst part of the winter in kennels Everyone loved him and prayed and prayed for a home for him. Once he had gone, it was so quiet - he can sing and sing and sing
Fantastic to see up dated pictures of him
