Bruno is attending his training group weekly and doing so well

Stories of the day:Sad memories of 1 yr ago having to move the dogs out of our house..splicing down to our 5 plus one foster. Just getting our house back into shape yes it has taken a year with all else going on.

Our team has grown; we now have great fosterers; dog walkers and outing and holiday givers; we now need to fundraise to help to pay our bills. A very good feeling within the rescue. We have developed our love for staffies and helped so many beautiful dogs. A reflective day with our new website now live www.rescueremediesdogs.co.uk.  And a massive mailout has just gone out to our past homers.

Reserved A lovely Jack with 3 legs from a nearby rescue has benefited from one of our homes.

Stories of the day  "We had a lovely walk. We met a large bouncy pointer who wanted to play - Kathy wasn't interested in playing, but they sniffed each other for a bit - all very good natured.

We did a bit of running together and I tripped over a tree root and fell over - Kathy came running straight back to me, looked at me, licked my face and rolled over next to me for a tummy tickle . I think she was worried about me Exclamation" Janet and Olwen..out and about with Kathy the day after she has finished her season.

Rhianna has caught her leg...and revealing in the extra special attention no doubt. Kiya GSD now fostered and up for rehoming.

Walking a tight rope currently as saved 4 staffies this week Rhona; Tiffany; Lisa and Mr Bing plus Stanley came back; replacing 3 out Nina; Paul and Goonie. But yes we have too many dogs in and bills to pay..just praying for that great terrier home or that fantastic Staffie home to come in.  People are donating generously to help our dogs..that feels so good.

Also our Staffie Rescue website hits per day are 4x (40  now 190)what they were in April.

9th Nov 09 Monday Picture of the day
A picture from yesterday that has stayed with me all day. Becky..fantastic little sweetheart..it will be worth the wait when you are truly embraced by your forever owner and walked off into the sunset. It was close yesterday..lets hope even closer today!

Stories of the day: 3 dogs on to our books today..Trevor a 3 yr old Rottie with very little training; Gracie Staffie 7 month pup with nothing given to her but misplaced love and neglect and Elsdon the same kind-of story but he has had 2 weeks of opportunity that has revealed him as a worthy wonderful sort of guy! Blake's eye is more or less healed phew! just caught it in time..I thought he may lose his vision in that eye. (Tiger) Lily has settled in well in her new routine..just missed another intro. to 'winter in kennels'. The frosts have appeared and our hearts go immediately out to our kennelled dogs as we wake every morning.

This and that happening..and prep. for several fundraising events under way. Tweetering and tweeking!

Reserved Minx

10th Nov 09 Tuesday Picture of the day
Tiffany poor love in rescue; in kennels and now dental with removal of 4 teeth; and spay. She'll soon pick up she wins everyone's heart who meet her. Here she is meeting a light brown dog on her walk a few days previous

Stories of the day: Dominated by making the decision to put Trevor (Formally called Trigger!) an incoming Rottie to sleep. His owner was stopped from doing it 4 days previous by a rescuer being in the vets when he came in. However the truth was he had grown up with owner, first time dog owner, who thought he'd get a ready made dog after waiting 2 yrs; but realised he was out of his depth when his lack of training and socialisation meant he was kept in his garage and only walked at night. The very well meaning rescuer.. hoped a rescue would bring him through but couldn't find a Rottie rescue to take him on. We agreed; but when I arrived at the vets everyone had white faces and basically one very scarred Rottie with an owner who had left to boarding a flight to go 'back home'. Bless him he wasn't going to transit through into rescue and develop trust of well meaning strangers.

Dee and I are flagging under the pressure of people trying to move their dogs on 4 weeks before Xmas! Pounds are not getting the rescue places dogs are being to be needlessly put to sleep as they have 'no room in the Inn'

15th Nov 09 Sunday Picture of the day
Stanley is enjoying a loving pack lunch! A Trillion miles away from a cold lonely kennel

Stories of the day: George GSD today found his forever home..isn't it such a great occasion! Questionnaire received late last night; homecheck by 10 am and in the car and meeting 12 noon! Those are our homes and this is our team! Hopefully we only see our families every 12 yrs or sooner if they have or will have more than one dog. It never ceases to amaze to be party to that magic moment of a dog finding its family. Goonie became a permanent feature which wasn't a surprise; was a very great relief and 'happiness'. Then the news ( Tiger)Lily is loved to bits! Iris is an absolute delight. Gracie is the MOST intelligent dog to ever Graced the earth. Elsdon is so L O V E L Y Gillie's owners want to complete the adoption. Seargent (Polo) a star! News from Samson in Durham the working Lakie pics will follow. Stanley looks so at home. Russell got out of his garden whilst in the process of recall training! and was picked up and taken in by a lovely couple  Embarassed .

We have had a wonderful week; 3 dogs which we didn't even know needed new homes this time last week are tonight safely in their forever homes. 2 previously owned by men who are now living c/o Her Majesty's Pleasure (Elsdon and Gracie).

People are giving us donations through our websites and Secret Squirrel (See her Christmas song appeal!) is acknowledging their generousity and it really is making a difference as we struggle to meet our kennel bills. What the heck when a dog's life rests on it why worry! Everyone's contribution in money or time is vital Sweet dreams Minx our homing of the week sweet dreams.

17th Nov 09 Tuesday Picture of the day

Exceptional picture of Amber with her current family..one week to go before she comes into kennels.

Stories of the day: Dee and John prepared for Kathy and Marmaduke to stay overnight tomorrow after their neutering, as respite to kennels. I bathed and groomed 2 dogs in my own pack that had got into shameful neglect. Answered the phone to agree to a 8 month English Bull Terrier x bitch Belle in 3rd week of season..needing to come out..agreed to take in Saturday morning. Dee has refused to let me pick up the phone. We're all soft as putty and unable not to be there for these dogs. Stanley coming back to Gatwick (N) tomorrow. Ben coming into Farnham kennels tomorrow. Elsdon coming back on Sunday.  Strng lead on Jojo and Maggie (TR) Tia had a better day today.

Oh Dear Oh Dear this isn't a game; this is homeless dogs finding themselves in the mercy of Rescue. As a rescue you have to stand firm for your dogs and be ready to receive them back at anytime. The logistic and maths are complex..the success of our websites presents us like a Mayhew Rescue Centre or the like. A few -show we Can! with the help of friends!

19th Nov 09 Thursday Picture of the day

Marmaduke and Kathy ..there is life after neutering and a long spell of kennelling!

Stories of the day:
Dee and John proved themselves to be as soft as butter and couldn't put either Kathy or Marmaduke back into kennels..obviously this is taking up Dee's time having 6 dogs in the house (Oh I know that feeling!) BUT well worth the time. These are 2 dogs who so deserve everything on offer and continue to prove 'easy to home' so will no doubt to tucked up in homes by Christmas. Elsdon settling and so reserved again; giving him more time so not coming back at the weekend as planned. George Red Fell proving himself to be a star and passing all tests! Alfie Lakie coming in at the weekend

Spending time trying to catch up.. the phone continues to go and I continue to say ..OMG yes ofcourse. People dont realise everytime I say "yes" its committing us all to £400 at least for that dog. I've said yes to 10 dogs recently. People just need the dog gone and it is very rare to get any supporting money. Dont know how we'll pay our bills, and adoption monies still being chased. Our websites are attracting donations but whilst every £ counts the maths just don't add up.  We need more support to help deal with all the admin work so it is taken off Dee inparticular and be systematically dealt with. However neither Dee nor I have time to spoonfeed people through or spend our time emotionally supporting or engraciating people for their kindness. Hard truth but volunteers need to be there for our homeless dogs and connect in with their plight. This isn't joining amateur dramatics, it's reality, these dogs would be dead without us. So joining in is to achieve outcomes not an ego trip. Spoken by a 'task orientated person'! We are lucky that our team members are of that calibre; all hands on deck but have had people in the past who have fallen away because perhaps we didn't say thank you enough!

20th Nov 09 Friday Picture of the day
Alfie all set to come in to us tomorrow another terrier who has run out of options.

Stories of the day: Chleo is now reserved family travelling from Devon on Monday..they are so excited..this will be their 3rd rescue terrier sadly bereaved recently. Paul is settling but may turn out to be foster rather than homing with the best will in the world. Transport arranged for Alfie and Shadow tomorrow with Blue and Bruce's owners. Transport didn't happen for Dougie and Samson as Dougie needed to go to the vet re his neutering site. Maisie a Patterdale due to be Put To Sleep next week if we cant take..we will take.

That time of year when people innocently or otherwise want there dogs 'to go' and no rescue is in the position to help as homing has slowed down, so every rescue place is premium. Depressing time as just to look at our websites you can see how many dogs we are carrying more than most rescue centres. The good news is our dogs are safe, loved and as is our Staffie motto  have light at the end of their kennels.

22th Nov 09 Sunday Picture of the day

Shiva has an near human quality..some dogs do. Therefore Kennels seem more like prison..with her mind questioning ?Why what did I do wrong?

Stories of the day: Tara has gone in for a trial adoption with Tyler. 2 homechecks carried out yesterday but no prospective dogs identified. Benjy came in as an emergency our terriers can sigh relief as they come under our safety net. Benjy you are back on dry land! Boycie's owners have had a long chat with Dee...oh how they love their precious pooch..they now have a strategy on his opting for higher and higher value foods. 4 dogs continue to cause me intense worry in kennels Winnie; Becky; Zebedee and Ky Visiting Gatwick (S) is an overwhelming experience; shocking in terms of numbers and cost; pleasing in terms of atmosphere and care. A sleepless night for me last night as we brace ourselves for 7 dogs (Liza, Joseph, Remy, Archie, Samson, Dougie and Amber in this week. Fortunately Remy going straight into her home).

The drawbridge is up.  'Returns' will somehow have to be accommodated. 2 (Eddie and Kyia) becoming urgent..but where to place?). Any further new dogs will have to die we are way over our capacity Crying or Very sad No questionnaires in yesterday! Continue to get emails without questionnaires attached which takes so much time just bouncing them back.

27th Nov 09 Friday Picture of the day
Asher cant understand why he is in kennels he thought if was for a holiday spell!

Stories of the day: Quiet day in terms of dog movement. Agreed to take in Sushi as Jack Russell demoted to living in the garden for the past 6 months. Following a rescue's diary is to share a glimpse of the raw deal dogs get in our society. Sometimes you have just a gut full of hearing the reasons why the dog must go..its all blame and very little shame. What does a dog rescuers house look like..my office chair was a hard wooden one with a washable cushion as Minxie my Patti will mark particularly things with my scent on. Then I saw a second office chair 4 months ago in mock leather great I thought at last comfort. Within 2 weeks a foster I had in at the time had chewed a large chunk out of the front corner..a little momento to remember him by. Everything is dog proof no kitchen bin on the floor as that will be turned over and raded. Sideboards on wheels to be able to wash the floor under and vinyl throughout as Fern is only 50% housetrained over the past 1 yr. There is no blame, there is forgiveness and heightened awareness from then on whilst you work with that dog. Petty crimes or just a little nervousness and the dog is out! Good note: Iris's homing is now being finalised.
